Feminism and LGBTQ+ Nightmare, minorly useful

Pros: spiritually forward, practical exercises, erotic stories
This book provides a lot of practical exercises, interesting jumping off points and good accompanying PDFs. There is a good healthy perspective about clearing shame and gaining acceptance and empowerment through sexuality, and gives good citations throughout. The author is very vulnerable with her own experiences which makes the book feel genuine and personal. I appreciate the spiritual approach that includes reiki, tantra, meditation, energy work, trauma locked in cells, shamanism, etc.

Cons: INCREDIBLY Heteronormative, anti-feminist (esp Ch 12+), 'meh' narration.
Even with the disclaimer at the beginning of this book, it is incredibly (and annoyingly) heteronormative throughout. Where the author could easily refer to a 'partner' (and does use the term in multiple OTHER ways throughout) she insists on shoe-horning in "husband or wife/boyfriend or girlfriend" whenever she is referring to a relationship dynamic. She also continuously refers to "marriage" when speaking about a man and woman, and only uses the term "union" when speaking about same sex marriages. Even taking into account her own personal experiences, and the experiences with her clients, it would have been incredibly easy to shift the tone and narrative of this book into being more broadly phrased to not exclude huge portions of people who are looking for this information. Although I listened to the end, and had a couple minor gripes about content or tone throughout, where the author completely went off-rails and mask-off was chapter 12. In almost it's entirety, this chapter speaks about the importance of 'men being dominant and women being subservient' and how 'feminism really screwed up our power dynamic in the bedroom'. This incredibly poor take is thinly veiled with justification of her own experiences and studies showing that things "aren't that for women bad considering women now make $0.86 for every $1.00 a man makes, and it was much worse in the 90's".

All in all, I am incredibly disappointed in the turn this book took, and think that I can find the same information and exercises without the anti-feminist and anti-LGBTQ+ dogma that this book insists on perpetuating.

Worth Reading/Listening

This is a first book that I have listed to about sex life so I do not have a lot of reference from other books. It was very interesting! I think it was helpful and even hopeful as it was describing how the stories of the seemingly hopeless people have changed! What I didn’t like is that it was talking about some practices and seminars and how they changed the author’s life, but she did not describe what should I do to change my sex life (the book did have some practice exercises, but they were independent from the stories of the experiences of the author). Overall I would recommend this book! It may not change your life, but it could be a good beginning for the big but gradual changes.

Absolute 5 star rating!!!

I found this book to be extremely inspiring and enlightening. and if you take the tips and tricks and words to Heart and use them in your everyday life I strongly feel like it will make a difference. I extremely enjoyed listening too this book. The narrator made it very easy to listen to and follow. I will be recommending this book to every woman I know whether they are having issues sexually or not it has extremely good information about how our bodies as women work and I will even be having my husband listen to this book so he has a better idea of how my body works as well.

Tap into your inner self

Great book on giving you tools to help unlock your sexuality and the power that can come from that. It's based on the Eastern philosophy of Tantra. This is not my belief system but I was able to extract a lot of golden nuggets that help me to explore my sexuality. The book is very interactive and every chapter gives you an opportunity to work on the philosophies discussed. Definitely worth adding to your collection in this particular area. I believe one of the most powerful areas she covered is discovering your sexual blueprint and how those philosophies on sex that you grew up with have a strong impact on your sexuality today.

Great insights. I learned a lot about myself reading this book. If you think you won’t benefit from reading/ listening to this book, you’re wrong. Everything is connected to your sexuality.

Great Insight but Vague

I really enjoyed the book although I found it very vague. This is not a manual but more insight & helping one to begin those first stages of healing. It was easy to listen to.

Not a book I wish to keep.

I wouldn’t recommend this book, if you are looking for any psychological or scientific knowledge on human sexuality. It has a lot of focus on tantric sex and specifically to sky dancing tantra. It is mostly the personal experiences of the writer. I gained better insights reading the books of Emily Nagosky, Esther Perel and and Dr Karen Gurney.

Great

Really loved this book. The author shares so much of herself. As a woman I found it really helpful to hear about the challenges that other women have also experienced with their sexuality. Society and media can often give unhelpful expectations around sex. I found this book real and honest and I feel it can really help women to connect more with their true sexual nature.

As we edge closer to true knowledge of the orgasm we disgover what in hibits and enables us. I beg for a book written in a language accessible to men and a complete picture of the process from both partners perspective from beginning to end,
