Publisher's Summary

Is it an accidental pregnancy if it’s purposefully planned?

Autumn Kulis wants a baby. It’s that simple and that complicated because one thing stands in her way: She doesn’t have a man in her life. And at almost 40, she isn’t getting any younger. On a two-week trip to her brother’s lakeside cottage, a plan forms. Make a list of three men. Sleep with each of them. Allow nature to take its course.

Only, a certain someone gets in her way.

Logan Anders goes with the flow of life. Divorced, single dad, he works hard and occasionally plays harder. When his college roommate invites him to Lakeside Cottage for two weeks, he hadn’t remembered his best friend’s little sister being so hot. Nor was he a fan of her plan to find a baby daddy. He’s determined to make her list, then tear it to shreds leaving him the only man horizontal with her.

A crush revealed exposes the desire for her brother’s best friend and a simple proposition could be the second chance they both need to really live.

It’s The Big Chill of 2021, including a reunion of friends gone awry when someone wants to get pregnant and someone else wants to be the one to give her everything.

Welcome to Lakeside Cottage, a new adventure in over-40 romance and second chances at love by L.B. Dunbar.

Pass me tissues

First of all. The narrators are PERFECTION for this story. I already read the book, so the story was familiar but I was pulled in once again, reaching for my tissues.
Listening to it read by these narrators, magnified an already amazing story.
This is one I will re-listen to again in the future.

Perfect narrators!!

New author for me. I've really started to enjoy these "adult" romances. This one was great and had lots of sexy times (I approve) - something that you don't necessarily see when reading stories with ~40-year-old characters. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Loved it!

OMG!! I am a mess! This book was AMAZING!
Our couple struggled to get it together they were going to be sex only but NOPE they both caught feelings. Actually the feelings were already there, they just weren't ready for them.
Honestly that wasn't the only love story in this book and that was something I LOVED. We had sibling love, parental love, and Oh My! the love of four men who are life long friends. So many touching heartfelt moments showcasing all the levels of love.
I finished it a sobbing mess! My heart was breaking for some characters yet filled with joy for others.
I can't wait for the next one in the series!

Great Story!💜

I enjoyed the reality of this story. It was well written with the struggles of getting older and having to make life changing decisions. Some were happy and others were sad but all were for a better life. It was funny, charming & heartbreaking but every aspect of this story was full of heartfelt emotions and the importance of lifetime friendships.
The narration was absolutely fantastic. Both narrators performed brilliantly. That said sometimes in duel narration, one narrator reads faster than the other so the flow of the story changed a bit. This did not change how much I loved this book and can’t wait for more. This is book 1 and can be read as a standalone.
I highly recommend this book.

Logan and Autumn

I loved how this book focuses on the older characters at 40. This sets a more established age with less young adult stupidity, or does it really? Lol Lakeside Cottage is a great family retreat and nice place to reunite with your friends and loved ones. There is so much more to this story than the birthday celebrations for the buddies. We have raising kids, wanting babies, single parenthood, forever love, new love, sex, emotion and camaraderie. I highly recommend this book.
I loved the great narration!

Bring on the tears part 2

What an incredible read this was and captured all my feels. I found the characters so easy to relate to (given they are juts about my peer group) and I loved the connection between them all and how it almost felt like a John Hughes movie for adults albeit through a book. The slow simmer between Logan and Autumn and the bonds with all the friends created for an epic escape

There truly is so much going on in this read through al the emotions and I don’t want to let this one go. Thank goodness we have more coming with the other characters.

Way to start a new series!

Wow, just wow. The Lakeside Cottage series opener did NOT disappoint. I have read many of L.B. Dunbar's books and have greatly enjoyed her writing style. This book felt like another big step forward in her storytelling. I found myself deeply interested in not only the main characters of Logan and Autumn, but all of the side characters ... who she sets up perfectly for the rest of the series. As older adults, the challenges are appropriate for their ages and she weaves in nuances that help the reader understand that their challenges aren't just surface-level miscommunications.

Narrators: The narrators voices are spot on for the characters, good inflection/tone/timing, and the female narrator has a very good "male" voice when needed and the same is true for the male narrator with the "female" voice. The book and the audio get a solid 5 stars from me! Can't wait for book 2!

I loved it. A biitersweet naration of real life. There is love and loss and lots of learning as we get older. This is just perfect for mature adults with real life happening. i cannot wait to read the book two. The narrators brought the story to life.

When will Book Two Be Out??

Living at 40 is a wonderful book, that has so many things that moved me. It really felt like I was a part of this group of friends. The characters are so relatable. Laughing, crying, and loving with them seemed so natural. I can’t wait for the next one to come out so I can continue my journey with them.

Narration let book down

I love books by this author. This story is a roller coaster of emotions and well written. It’s a shame the narration was lacking. Aaron is amazing however I couldn’t listen to Kelsey’s voice. Her narration is quite forced not natural. I’ll stick to the kindle version.
