Publisher's Summary
The forest brought them together. What's in it could tear them apart.
Maggie Sullivan has returned to Wolfe Creek, determined to find out why her best friend vanished one fog-shrouded night a year ago. But it quickly becomes clear that if the residents of the secluded mountain town know what happened, they aren't talking.
Sheriff's deputy Koda Wolfe reluctantly agrees to help Maggie, even as he tries to convince her to leave town for her own good. Soon he's compelled to protect her from herself, his family's ancient curse, and a killer who could strike again.
The nights heat up in more ways than one as Maggie and Koda delve deeper into the haunting disappearance. The eerie woods come alive with secrets bound to tear them apart, while someone is watching their every move.

3.75 Stars for me
I really enjoyed this story until the last 39 minutes and that is only because the dramatic moment was so dragged out and the h turned completely naive. She does put herself in to TSTL moments throughout the story but the beginning talked about how distraught she was.
Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Loan Wolf bk 1
Maggie Sullivan's best friend Amy disappeared over a year ago - just vanished without a trace. Maggie has returned to Wolfe Creek to get to the bottom of what happened - but the small town people don't take kindly to new transplants....esp those asking accusatory questions.
Deputy Koda Wolfe feels the same way Maggie does...there must be more but there is nothing to follow up on, He feels caught between protect her from herself, a family's ancient curse, gossiping town folk and knowing the killer is still at large.
While this was an interesting paranormal story, book 1 left me with unsatisfied feelings towards the best friend Amy.

I wanted to like this book
The narrator did a good job and was probably the only reason I finished this book.
I wanted to like this story, but the characters were flat and the storyline was underdeveloped.
The main characters didn’t have a believable romance. They had a couple of forgettable interactions, some internal dialogue about how they found each other attractive, no flirting or sexual tension and then they were in love.
The antagonist came out of no where, but not in a good, unexpected way. There wasn’t that lovely “Ah ha!”, where all of the pieces of the puzzle come together. There just weren’t any pieces.
I wanted to like the story because it has a missing girl, the spooky forest, the locally mythos. A good combo for a potentially great story, but it didn’t live up to the expectations. Maybe with a few more rewrites to flesh out the characters and develop the plot more, this story could be something special.
The very last chapter, was redeeming. It was intriguing, nearly enough for me to want to read the next book. I wish the whole book was was as good as the last chapter.

Story dragged on, Characters dumb
This book is just meh, like the characters are dull ass hell. There’s no real chemistry, Maggie is DUMB. The whole scene with Deputy Alan was terrible, ma’am did little to no fighting for her life and I noticed he was the damn killer wash before her. She daydreaming and he’s let himself into her room. And she didn’t think that was fucking weird. Get it together! Don’t waste your time.
