Publisher's Summary

A love story, an adventure, and an epic of the frontier, Larry McMurtry's Pulitzer Prize-winning classic, Lonesome Dove, is the grandest novel ever written about the last defiant wilderness of America.

Two retired Texas Rangers, Captains Woodrow Call and Augustus "Gus" McCrae, lead a cattle drive from the small town of Lonesome Dove to the unsettled Montana territories. On their grueling journey, they are joined by Joshua Deets, a Black scout and former Ranger, Jake Spoon, a fugitive, and Newt Dobbs, a 17-year-old boy who may have family ties to Call. Richly authentic, beautifully written, always dramatic, Lonesome Dove will make listeners laugh and weep, dream and remember.

This remastered audio edition is expertly read by actor Lee Horsley, best known for his starring role in the television series Matt Houston.

Not the full book

Not the full book, don’t waste your time on this selection. Cuts off at the peak of the story.

Not the full book.

No idea this wasn’t the full book. Not stated anywhere on this title. Very disappointing.

Not entire book

This was only 15 hours and stopped at chapter 49. Why would this version say it’s unabridged but then not be entire book? Very frustrating and waste of money. Make sure you buy the 30+ hour version.

Half book

This reading ends in chapter 49! Do not buy this reading of this book! At one point in the book you can even hear dogs barking in the background that is not part of the book.

Performers breathing!

I cannot stand the way the performer constantly takes a deep breath before seemingly every sentence. I had to stop at just a few minutes in. Ugh!Totally ruined a great story!
