I am Levy Michaels. Once my kind were the hunters - now we are the hunted. Supernaturals are out of the closet but I have to stay hidden because of the type of magic I possess. I’m a legacy. It sounds like the title should come with reverence, a trust fund, or at the very least a cool backstory - instead it comes with a death sentence. I have to hide in plain sight and pretend to be just human. I’m pretty good at it.

Amber Blackwood, lifelong resident of Edgehill, Oregon, has earned a reputation for being a semi-reclusive odd duck. Her store, The Quirky Whisker, is full of curiosities. It has everything from extremely potent sleepy teas and ever-burning candles to kids’ toys that seem to run endlessly without the aid of batteries. Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

An exciting story that is well developed
Nara is a small child, playing in the grass blowing on dandelions when she is quickly and silently abducted from the orphanage. The nun turns a blind eye and thus begins the adventure and life of Nara. Nara has secrets she must keep, a scar that she keeps hidden and a curiosity that will end in more pain than she could ever expect. Nara has compassion, an abundance of love and eagerness to help those she has known all her life. Taking her secret magic, she tries to help the townsfolk of Dimmitt only to find herself, her “adoptive father” Bilo and her friend, Michael on the run for their lives.
Her act of kindness sets them on a path that is deadlier than they are prepared, they forge friendships and lose friends along the way – but ultimately, Nara must face the biggest threat she has ever encountered. She must defeat him or die trying to save her friends.
An exciting story that is well developed and executed perfectly. The characters were well developed with a keen insight into their personalities from vivid imagery and their actions. Willson is a master wordsmith, creating scenes that leave listeners both emotionally and physically on the edge of their chairs.
The narrator, Tanya Eby, performed the audiobook excellently with the appropriate emotion the engaging the audience to keep listening. I found her voice soothing and she skillfully moved the book forward enthralling the listeners.
I enjoyed this book immensely and am looking forward to the next in the series. I cannot help but wonder where Willson will go with book 2! Lots of action and more gut-wrenching suspense I suspect!
There were no issues with the quality or production of this audiobook.

Amazing fantasy for all
Magic powers are a very different in a world where if you have abilities you can either harm or hurt the town you are born in. Those with positive magic could even gain high positions and wealth for their town. However, that doesn’t mean they can’t use them for their own selfish ideas. Nara has a power and a secret held from her. During announcement her world is turned upside down and she goes on a journey where she learns more than she bargains for.

An excellent Fantasy!
“The answer to a prophecy. Tender to those around her. Deadly to her enemies.
Looking For Dei is a different type of Fantasy novel that allows us to watch the story unfold from all directions. We switch between the point of views of Nara and Mykel primarily, but there are a few scenes from their enemies’ point of views (yes, multiple enemies) which I thought really heightened the tension. We were able to feel dread for what we knew was to come, even though where they were through most of the story didn’t require a tight grip on the book.”
The narrator did a fantastic job of capturing this story and bringing the characters to life.
At first, it took me a little bit to get used to her reading style, because it sounded a little too automated for my taste. But after a couple chapters, I began to quite like the way she read and I think she did a great job with this book I had already grown to love.
The novel itself received a full 5 out of 5 stars rating and I give the audio book version 4 out of 5 stars.

Very Enjoyable Fantasy!
Wilson did an excellent job bringing his story to life! I felt connected to the characters early on and the world that was described here. It seemed like there would be more going on in the later half of the story and I was correct! It was a little slow to start off with, but once it gets into the action part of the novel, I got caught up in the story very easily. I didn’t want to press pause on this audio at all! For me this was a very engaging story that had more than just young characters falling in love in a fantasy world! I give it a 5/5 stars.
With the narration by Eby, the story was elevated more! I enjoyed her accents and different voices for each character. She made me feel both relaxed while listening and excited to get to the bottom of everything. She has a very nice voice and I would say is probably one of my favorite audio narrators I’ve listened to! Studio production seems to be great as well, no issues with background noise or weird pauses. I give it a 5/5 stars!
I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by David A. Willson. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

Excellent YA/Teen Fantasy Adventure
This book starts slow with good character development and multiple POV being given so you can get a good idea where different characters are coming from.
Narration was good and brought the story to life.
The story is complex and there is a lot that goes on as the story picks up and one thing after another keeps you on your toes. I wish there was a bit more romance. The story is unique and the plot unexpected. I was blown away by the way things concluded. I assume there will be another installment because the conclusion left several unresolved things pending. I’m looking forward to see where this story goes.

Magical Coming Of Age Story
Looking For Dei started out slow but picks up quickly. It is a great fantasy following Nara's journey of finding herself and her magic. There is plenty of action and the characters are well developed. The narrator did a fantastic job bringing the story and characters to life. I look forward to more from this Author and in this series.

Fantastic
Narrator is wonderful; solid pace and differentiations.
The story is something that engulfs you and you feel like you’re right there with the characters, tensing at surprises, feeling the deep sadness of loss. I love books that involve magic and while many of them involve being transported to a magical reality, this is not that. It was refreshing to have a new approach to magic and it’s uses.
Don’t think any further, just get this book, you won’t regret it.
Parents: there is a fair amount of fighting and injuries in this book. If you or those you love are highly squeamish maybe look elsewhere.

Unexpectedly great!
I wasn’t sure if I wanted to read this book but I am so glad I did! The characters were really great, the plot was fun, I loved the land and setup of the setting. The book took me to another world, one with magic, but also a lot of qualities from this world that transitioned seamlessly. I was really impressed with the writing and how engaging the story was. I was never bored! I highly recommend and am now waiting for book 2!

Characters you can feel for
I received this book free in exchange for my review and I am feeling pretty good about this book. For anyone, much less a kid, to find out that their whole life has been a lie has to suck. Fortunately for Nara she was raised by a good man, Bilo, who love and protection made her into a caring person vs her sibling and its evident on how she was taught to view life. I look forward to reading the next book to see how more of how this girls life unfolds.
