Publisher's Summary

Jack Taggart, an undercover Mountie, lives in a world where the good guys and the bad guys change places in a heartbeat. Taggart is very good at what he does. Too good to be playing by the rules. The brass decide to assign a new partner to spy on him.Taggart's new partner discovers a society dependent upon unwritten rules. To break these rules is to lose respect. To lose respect is to lose one's life. Loose Ends is terrifying. It is a tale of violence, corruption, and retribution, but it is also a story of honour and respect.

The narrator

Could have been a good book- I tried... the narrator made everyone sound whiny and they all sounded the same. I liked the premise...

Good story

I didn’t care for this narrator. I’ve listened to many books in the past and this story was very interesting. I would love to get more in this series but I don’t know if I can listen to this guy’s voice for more. All this women sound whiney or snotty. A lot of the men who aren’t the star sound like whiney toddlers as well. Or to me that’s how it comes across. I just didn’t enjoy. If these books were read by someone else I’d definitely get the series.

Can't make it through this one.

Story line was OK but the tale took forever. Narrator was not very good at changing his charactors voices. Made for dull and uninspiring listen. Had to leave before I finished it.

Deplorable narration

I'm retired and am an audiobook addict. I choose a lot from the "included" list of books and listen all day every day fairly indiscriminately. I generally enjoy the experience. This one is a BIG exception. I'm trying to get to the end - only 2hr 20min left to go. The story is worth it, the writing is borderline passable, but the narration is soooo bad it's really been a slog. The rest of the series is narrated by the same guy so I'll give those a miss. It's a mystery to me how this ever got produced.

Meh

My thought is this could have been a good story but the characters are flat and the performance wasn’t a good fit for this story. I quit less than halfway through.

Started pretty good but...

It starts out tragic but pretty good but then it takes a disgusting turn. Couldn’t finish.

wickedly triggering mental ride

there's a talent to write trigger moments without making the listener feel uncomfortable. the author has this talent in abundance. The story and every character are written with detail. you'll know what's happening while not being tortured with unnecessary troubling details. Crime stories are good listens and this will have you teetering and wanting to never hit the stop button.

Moronic narration makes it hard to follow the story

He makes all the characters sound utterly stupid or retarded. He has no fluency so it’s impossible to follow.

I’m pretty sure the story is fine but the narration makes it unbearable.

Why oh why do these types of narrator get commissioned to wreck audio books?
