Publisher's Summary

Reborn five years in the past. A second chance to do everything over. What would you do? For Ashlyn, being reborn five years in the past is both a boon and a bane. She’s reborn in the wreckage of tragedy, forced to deal with a life that she messed up before. Now, all she has to show for her life is five years of accumulated knowledge in the greatest virtual reality game ever released - Elysium - and the pain of friendships lost.

This time, Ashlyn is going to make a difference. This time, she’s going to fix the mistakes she made and save the relationships she lost. And to do that, she’s going to use all the knowledge she gained from the future to blaze her way to the top with a new class: the Mystic Mage.

Ridiculous

The MC goes out of her way to make the problems she goes out of her way to talk about and “try to avoid”. It’s annoying and stressful to have the MC derailing the story by pointlessly pointing at herself and dragging people into it.

This was verry good, not fake. Read this it's good

SO, there have been a TON of crap books recently (and not so) in audible. This is NOT one of those. It has, a good MC who is quirky without being stupid or trope-ish. The MC is powerful because she is using smarts and not in the "OMG I'm so smart so everything I do it right!" But actual smart, no deus ex machina BS. And THE BEST part of this, and this is the fail of like 90% of all other books from this genre, she is Smart from before everything that happens but, as every other type of this book "OMG for some reason my REASON left me and I make a dumb choice because PLOT!" that doesn't happen! SHE IS ACTUALLY SMART!!! YES!!!!!!!! SO yeah, I don't want to give away the story AT all because it is that good and I'm sure somebody can find something to nitpick but if you want to listen to a story that doesn't suck, at any point in it, and that you can after you listen to it say "Hey I would re-read/listen to this again" THIS book is it. If that doesn't get you to buy this book you haven't listen to the crap that is on audible enough to actually NOT buy books which mean you should buy this book anyways!!! It's that good.

Really good

Jay Boyce has done it again, a compelling story that isn't focused on the fighting, even if the MC fights a lot. I can't wait for the next book!!

partial spoiler

As the title states this review is a partial spoiler. So you've been warned. The synopsis of the book states that the heroin of the book gets the chance to fix her mistakes of the past by being reincarnated in her past. Now in her past she doesn't do anything like fix mistakes, all she does is live by the creed of might makes right all the while being an anti social person. She isn't exactly a "Karen" but she isn't to far off. She's an OP character having knowledge of the past, and she states what is fair and what isn't. For the most part, she is kinda fair in alot of ways. But she totally favors herself and a couple of friends. Everyone else is or must be in the wrong. The author tries to get that past you by making alot of other characters in the book total jerks but not everyone. But as stated earlier since she's OP and lives by the creed might makes right. She isn't a "heroin" fixing the mistakes of her past. I will say that she is a bully to anyone she doesn't like instantly, and acts suprised and enforces her way when people respond negatively to being bullied. That being said it still is a entertaining read. I was just really bothered by the synopsis saying one thing and it being something different.

well written

This is an incredibly fun story! I really like how realistic Ashes is! She is a believable character because we all have an introvert friend that makes us connect to Ashes. I can't wait for book 2!

A new and wonderful world

Jay boyce’s use of reincarnation as a means of main character knowledge works well yet again, and doubles to prevent the fumbling around “what does this even do…?” parts of books that can drag on in the early chapters. It’s a wonderful mix of knowledge and discovery in a very cool VR world. Great supporting characters and a great showing of how full of trolls a game can be XD

Not bad

Heads up I did have to speed up To 1.10× 1.15× is not bad She reads a little too slow But the story is interesting The characters are likable Give a chance you should be disappointed I do believe it's cheaper if you buy the kindle an the audible I think I bought the kindle for $2 And the audio for $7.49 So don't waste a credit I think a credit is around 11:40 or something like that

Very Enjoyable LitRPG

Okay, if you don't enjoy litrpg then just move along... Honestly, the beginning was a bit rough and jumpy due to the premise and trying to get the reader the base information and character development. However once our main character started playing the game I was in.

Loved a female gamer's perspective, and while I would love to say it was overdone, I have seen way too many of the player mini-villains and wish them many stays in The Between!

This was a fun romp and I can't wait for a sequel!
