Boasting more than one million copies of his works sold, conservative radio personality Dr. James C. Dobson squarely addresses the problem of troubled marriages. He targets infidelity, alcoholism, spousal abuse, and emotional distance as the primary causes of divorce. Dobson also chooses to denounce homosexuality as an abomination. Dated But Timeless Info!

Very, very insightful into relationship dynamics during any Era. We'd like to think we "evolve" but dynamics don't change really. This is really about how to apply self-discipline in relationships and I think we need that more than ever!

I personally could have done without the chapter on homosexuality and recommend you skip it. Today it reads as homophobic and actually takes away from the beneficial aspects of this book.

Simply Phenomenal

I'm very tempted to say here, that I couldn't put it down... But that isn't the case, for only one reason, I found the topics and truths discussed in this book to be so deep and overwhelmingly insightful at times, I would simply have to take a break and let it all soak in. I'm speechless and blown away to say the least...

That being said... that's exactly why I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to just everyone... I'd definitely say most if not all adults should probably read it for the following reasons:

A) Counselors/Pastors/Christian Authorities, to better understand families/individuals who need to receive or dish out some tough love...

B) Newlyweds to better understand the issues that are out there to better appreciate what they don't want to experience... (inoculation so to speak, seems like that might've been the word Dr. Dobson used...)

C) Married people whose marriages are in trouble and want to save them. (Any relationship really that one person would like to salvage).

That would encompass A LOT of people if not possibly EVERY adult in some way...

Thank you Dr. Dobson for writing this wonderful book!

Thank you Lord for giving him these insights!

Have to read between the lines.

I really love the book! If toy can get past his quirky voice and 1950's examples. the info is really good. I read it again and again and I attribute this book to helping me get my marriage back together.

Excellent ebook.

I listened to this and wished I had heard this message long ago. For if you fear something it starts to take you over. Fearing divorce gets you divorced. You have to be brave and confront issues not passive and let them grow. This book addresses that issue head on.

Hope for the faithful spouse!

What do I do now that there’s another in his life? A question many people ask when spouse is unfaithful. I appreciate this book very much as it gives insight, guidance and a strong game plan to know how to move forward out of a tailspin of emotions! It’s so helpful to have a plan how to manage your emotions and encounters with your unfaithful partner during turbulent times of infidelity. It also touches on homosexual adultery, alcoholism and abuse from a Christian perspective. Dr. Dobson is no nonsense and compassionate! There is hope my friend!

Good against the normal Christian book

I have dealt with an affair and this book is good about helping with that. But the last third of it was really impacting to me. The affect on children and the dads that deal with how things affect them. I’m pleased.

Spoke to My Soul

Didn't want it end. Dr. Dobson was speaking to my SOUL in the book. It is one to revisit throughout my life in times of heartbreak, self doubt, anger, love, and joy.
