Poppy Wyatt has never felt luckier. She is about to marry her ideal man, Magnus Tavish, but in one afternoon her “happily ever after” begins to fall apart. Not only has she lost her engagement ring in a hotel fire drill but in the panic that follows, her phone is stolen. As she paces shakily around the lobby, she spots an abandoned phone in a trash can. Finders keepers! Now she can leave a number for the hotel to contact her when they find her ring. Perfect! Well, perfect except that the phone’s owner, businessman Sam Roxton, doesn’t agree.

Publisher's Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
The irresistible new stand-alone novel from number one best-selling author Sophie Kinsella.
I love you...but what if I can't love your life?
Ava is sick of online dating. She’s always trusted her own instincts over an algorithm, anyway, and she wants a break from it all. So when she signs up to a semi-silent, anonymous writing retreat in glorious Italy, love is the last thing on her mind.
Until she meets a handsome stranger. All she knows is that he’s funny, he’s kind and - she soon learns - he’s great in bed. He’s equally smitten, and after a whirlwind, intoxicating affair, they pledge their love without even knowing each other’s real names.
But when they return home, reality hits. They’re both driven mad by each other’s weird quirks and annoying habits, from his eccentric, naked-sauna-loving family to her terribly behaved, shirt-shredding dog. As disaster follows disaster, it seems that while they love each other, they just can’t love each other’s lives. Can they overcome their differences to find one life, together?

The Kinsella I love
Fiona Hardingham and Sophie Kinsella are just an unbeatable combo. Can't even describe the amount of laughter they've gifted me, esp during these horrible days for humanity.
Sophie Kinsella's characters are always so quirky and hilarious yet remain realistic, and Fiona Hardingham's narration is just a cuddle for the soul. Thank you both ❤️

loved it soooo much
sophie is my absolute favorite author but her last novels (namely my not so perfect life and i owe you one, but Especially surprise me) had been really letting me down. even more so when i compared it to the shopaholic series and other classics from sophie such as youve got my number and can you keep a secret. BUT this one is absolutely back on track!!! it has everything i love abt sophie's stories - fun, romance, humor, drama, happy endings. its so well written and ALL the characters are so amazing and the issues faced by them all are completely relatable. i cant stress this enough, its a classic sophie kinsella novel and i love it

Disappointed
I just cannot believe Sophie Kinsella wrote this drivel. I never thought I would return one of her books. I really hope this is a one off duff as she is my favourite author but this was just dreadful. Cannot find one positive to say 😬

wishy washy clap trap
Oh dear! Extremely disappointing story with irritating narration. Pulls no punches and I guarantee you will figure out the ending by page 10. Mind numbing, dull as dishwater, with a prissy main character whose voice is like nails down a black board. Yes you've guessed it, it wasn't for me!

Terrible until the end
I can’t even describe how I felt about this book really because it’s so mixed. It was so bad I found myself slightly addicted to it.
It was very funny at times though.
If I had the hard copy book I never would have finished it but because it was on audible I listened to the end and that did salvage it a little. I was glad it improved as the first 3/4 were bordering on ridiculous.
Wouldn’t say don’t read but certainly wouldn’t recommend it (I love the majority of Sophie kinsella’s work and usually rave for weeks after each book)

Normally love Sophie's books
Found the characters very weak and sometimes even annoying. The story line was very predicable and clichéd at times. This is the only Sophie Kinsella book I've read and not liked.

The start
The middle
I regret
The end I liked...because everyone grow common sense and behaved like adults.
I could skip half the book and not be lost in the plot. I was annoyed and bored by the main characters, most of the time. do your self a favour and don't waste your money.

Ok ... but socially problematic
The heroine is a totally useless woman even though she’s not meant to be. This sort of story is the reason why women end up unhappy in marriage, unrealistic male roles and plot. These are the things I was annoyed by but otherwise the story was ok in parts. The reader was quite good too.

Don't bother
Insipid story which has an unfunny sitcom feel about a dimwit girl who falls in love with a bloke she meets on a writers retreat after having spent half a day with him then a night, and not knowing anything about him - not even his name.
If I can prevent one person from wasting valuable time on this title, I'll have done my bit for humanity.

Disappointing for Sophie Kinsella
Usually love Sophie’s books but this one was tough to get through. Too much random bits of nothingness and no connection between the couple. Lots of random and unnecessary plot added into the last two chapters. Fiona hardingham is still an enjoyable narrator
