Publisher's Summary

He cannot obtain his fortune without first obtaining a bride.

Charlotte Clarke wants nothing more than to experience a London Season. But when she finds out she has to wait another year due to her sister's recent pregnancy, she is crushed. All is not lost as a letter arrives soon after summoning Charlotte to Danbury Hall to meet her new guardian, John Wilkins. With little choice but to go, she determines to contrive a way to convince her new guardian to take her to London in her sister's stead.

John Wilkins spent the last four years running his family's plantation in the Caribbean. When he returns to England after his father's death, he learns that not only is he the guardian of his estranged cousin, but his father amended his will: John will not inherit anything until he marries or turns thirty. Eager to attend the Season and obtain a bride, he agrees to take Charlotte with him.

Charlotte takes on the Season, searching for love while assisting Mr. Wilkins in finding a suitable bride. But what she doesn't count on is falling in love with him herself.

A clean and wholesome Regency romance, Love in the Ballroom is the fifth book in the Women of Worth series. It can be listened to as a stand-alone romance, but is best enjoyed in proper order.

I appreciate these clean romances

This is an okay story to relax of an evening. It’s told through the alternating point of view of both characters. There’s a bit of repetition in the “informing” of readers about the reasons, motives, and goals of the characters through their internal thoughts. As though we didn’t get it the first time a character had a thought. This is very typical for this genre. And the narration is heavy. Otherwise it’s a fine story.

such a sweet wonderful book

I enjoyed this book very much!! I loved the whole story here. I'm always intrigued when I read these time period stories where women have no real control on their lives. It's so frustrating to read! lol But i loved this book so much. The main character is a very smart woman and had no problems with navigating her new circumstances.

good clean story!

Well written and I enjoyed the historical bits! They where not overwhelming but did bring light to a dark part of history.
The subtle falling in love was fun to listen to!

A clean regency romance

It was a little slow to start with but worth the time to get to the ending. A wonderful clean regency romance.

Dual perspective Regency Romance

This story is told through the eyes of an eager young heroine and also through the eyes of a noble young gentleman. Their path to romance includes lots of hiccups such as guardianship, the horrors of slavery, illegitimacy, greed, and society’s expectations. From beginning to end, it was interesting. I especially liked the inclusion of an anti-slavery society and two great examples of happy adoptions.

Why did Mary sarah not narrate all 5

Having listened to the prequels, this and book 4, were hard to listen to as the characters had already been narrated so well. It was so hard to get into the story with the change in tone, pace, and character interpretation. I have enjoyed the story, but the narration was hard, she’s very nasally and added a lot of whining tones.

Great story, but terrible narration

Kasey does a great job but it was very hard to get past the narration!

Absolutely Delightful!

Thank you to Diana for providing me with a free copy of this audiobook in return for an honest review.

Charlotte and John meet as distant cousins when John is given the responsibility of being her legal guardian. Soon after Charlotte's arrival, the two accompany John's mother to the London season where they both have similar goals but different motives. John needs to find a bride to obtain his fortune, Charlotte simply wishes to find love.

This was a really lovely story from beginning to end. It was so well written. I almost instantly fell in love with Charlotte, our mild-mannered heroine whose ambition and dreams are as huge as her horse Benny. She was such a real character - she had her flaws where at points she would be childish and a little irritating but she always meant well. John was also a really likable character. We had other great people in the plot, such as Mrs. Wilkins; John's stern and stubborn mother, Elise; the best friend that everyone wants, and Mrs. Opie; the complete inspiration.

Narrator Diana Croft was such a perfect selection for this piece. She read at a really good pace and brought every single character to life with their own voices and personalities.

This is easily a must-read for those who enjoy historical romances. It's an easy read that cleverly touches on issues that occurred in this era and subtly made a very good statement.

Sweet story

This is a nice sweet historical story where the author has made good attempt to use period language and references. I found the story a little flowery but it was still a good solid story that had depth and detail.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Sweet

I loved the main characters and I grew to love the aunt by the end of the story. Sometimes the story felt like journal entries that were a little confusing but the story was sweet.

Perfect Addition to the Series

Love in the Ballroom is a well written, entertaining addition to the Women of Worth Series. It is a story that is able to stand all on its own but a reader who has read the other books of the series might appreciate the opportunity to catch up with the main characters from the previous books. Kasey Stockton does a wonderful job telling the story from both main characters point of view. The story is quick moving and delightful. The narrator does a superb job adding emotion and depth to the story. A nice addition to the story is the announcement of whose point of view the story is coming from at the beginning of each chapter. It makes following the story much smoother for the listener. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys clean regency romances. If you haven't checked out the previous books of the series, I highly recommend you do that as well.
