Publisher's Summary

Life for Bertie seems to be moving at a pace that is rather out of his control. In Drummond Place gardens, it seems that Olive has their future together all planned out. Meanwhile, upstairs at 44 Scotland Street, Bertie’s father Stuart is powerless to stop overbearing Irene and her motion for Bertie to travel to Aberdeen on a three-month secondment. And, further up in the New Town, while Bruce Anderson plots with old-school chums, love blossoms in Big Lou’s Cafe.

Warmhearted, humorous, and wonderfully wise, Love in the Time of Bertie offers philosophical insight as well as sartorial elegance. Catch up once again with the extended family at No 44, in this the latest installment in the Scotland Street series.

Another Visit to Scotland Street

I always look forward to reengaging with the cast of Scotland Street and learning how they each are faring and giving us varied causes for reflection on life with love and hope in distressing circumstances. Alexander McCall Smith blesses us with his writing.

Standard fare for this series

Seems the author is trying to wrap up loose ends. Focus of the book is happiness and happy endings.

First rate

I deeply hope that AMS enjoys writing his books as much as I enjoy listening to them, especially this series. I only have to cue up a book to feel light and warm inside, even before I hear Robert Ian Mackenzie's voice. He is the perfect match for these books, and if anything, he enriches the stories. Can't wait for the next!

Finally Bertie!!!

Finally a BIT of Justice!!!
Stewart still needs to push back.
Olive and her gang of wee thugs need to be neutralized.
Balance in the time of Bertie would be nice, but then what???
I look forward to more 44 Scotland Street.

The Weight of Love

Always a fan of the folks from 44 Scotland Street and these episodes from each character including Big Lou, Bruce, Angus and of course Bertie continue to remind ume that it’s a blessing to have people who only wish the best for us.
