Publisher's Summary

True love brings a deadly threat to the Black Dagger Brotherhood in this sizzling new novel in J.R. Ward’s number one New York Times best-selling series.

Possessed by the demon Devina, Balthazar is once again on the hunt for the Book of Spells—and fighting an undeniable attraction to a woman. As a thief, he has stolen a lot of things…but he never thought his heart would be taken by another. Especially not a human.

As a homicide detective, Erika Saunders knows there is something otherworldly going on in Caldwell, New York. Mutilated bodies that cannot be explained are all over her case list—and then there are her nightmares in which she’s hunted by shadows and captivated by a mysterious man who is both a suspect and a savior.

When Devina’s wish for true love is finally granted, Balthazar and Erika unwittingly become the gateway for the rebirth of an old enemy of the Brothers. Will the very thing that brings them together lead to the ultimate destruction of the Brotherhood? Or will they have to lose everything in order to save the race’s most sacred defenders?

🌻I don’t ever want this series to end!🌻

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

I love this series. I love these characters and I love this narrator! I can’t think of a single storyline that I didn’t enjoy. This book was no exception.

This book brings back two evil characters, from the past. This was no surprise, the BDB has to have some evil essence to defend the race from, after all.

Lassiter, the Angel, played a critical role, in this book and I’m thinking this issue will likely be revisited in a future book.

The only thing this book lacked, in my opinion, was an update on the lives of more of the beloved BDB characters.

If you are a devoted BDB fan, this is definitely a credit worthy listen. If you’re new to the series, start with book one, you won’t be disappointed.

JR Ward nails it again

There is literally no book series I have ever loved as much as The Black Dagger Brotherhood. The way Ward writes is perfection. A blend of comedy, drama, tragedy, and pure heat is an absolute balm to my soul. I'll never ever get enough of the Brothers and their world.

It’s okay

Struggled with this one- it felt disjointed to me and I kept losing interest which led to rewinding to try to figure out what was going on. This has never happened to me on a BDB book.

More questions, not enough answers

I had from beginning to end a love hate relationship with this story. No detail because of spoilers, but once you have read (listened) you will get my meaning.
To be blunt a whole new can of worms have been placed in front of the citizens of Cauldwell. Fair warning.
As always Jim F. rocked this story, but I'm sure you knew that in advance.

Paranormal Romance!

Wow! I don’t know how she does it, but this series only gets better with each book. This is the twentieth book in this series. It focuses on Balthazar and homicide detective Erika Saunders. With a side feature of Devina to make matters worse. They are instantly attracted to one another. But how can they make it work? He is a thief and she is a cop. Not to mention he is a vampire and she is human. Can true love prevail? Can they survive Devina’s meddling? With the help of fallen angel Lassiter and his fellow members of the Brotherhood they might pull it off.
And there is a surprising new/old character to contend with in the future.

The audiobook is narrated by Jim Frangione. I just love his voice. The deep tone is perfect for this series.

Buried the lead

it's so long to get to the part of lash being back but oh my God then you went on and on with the story about him and homicide detective which was boring as I don't know what I love your books but girl get rid of it you buried the lead and left it very there was really no action and just more chaos and confusion and that seems to be what's going on lately with the prolonging of the black dagger brotherhood so I guess I still love your books though.
