MMMMM WOW...
Of all the brothers I was most excited to see where John Matthew headed, I knew he loved Xhex and always knew her issues where going to be hard to bare, but darn if the young boy alone all his life knew the right moves, He is passionate, loving, strong and one of the kindest brothers, I thought Rev's was my favorite, but JM moved him over lol... This is a spellbounding series, long listening, action packed, nerve racking, sexy, I was sad when it was over, I felt I left my friends behind :(...
It powerful!!!! Jim Frangione voice is hipnotic, strong, soft, sexy, passionated, angry, and humble...
Thank you for a great series....

IM IN LOVE WITH THE BROTHERHOOD!
OMG this is one of the best series I have read. Twilight pales in comparison to these novels. JR Ward brings a wonderful twist to vampires. I also love the masculine characters she has created and the awesome sense of humor she gives each character. I love the story line from start to finish. I am craving more more more after I am done. I cant wait for the next series. It draws you in from the very first book to this book 8 it is awesome!

Blah blah blah
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Less filler
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
...finally; meaning the story went on and on....just tell the stink'n story; quit stuffing it with filler!
What about Jim Frangione’s performance did you like?
Good
Any additional comments?
Lots of filler; I understand setting the scene but to go on and on and on and repeat and repeat and repeat is unnecessary.

One of the Best
I find it amazing how J R Ward can continually put out an outstanding novel even after EIGHT! Usually the storyline begins to thin and repeat and suffer after a few books but LOVER MINE is outstanding. Great characters as always, fabulous story line and I enjoy some tears and alternate laugh out loud moments!
Jim Frangione is PERFECTION with his narration! I couldn't imaging a better choice! He is perfect in all ways as he brings me to the world of the Black Dagger Brotherhood! If Jim ever stopped narrating I would read it myself not listen to the audio so...keep it going Jim! THANKS!

Overall, a good story
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I've enjoyed the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, and enjoyed watching John Matthew's story develop in this sequel. To be honest, though, the constant sex is getting a bit boring, and I keep skipping over those sections to get to the rest of the story. It was interesting and titillating for the first few books, but by somewhere around book 4, I really was more interested in the stories than in the sexual exploits. I think the stories would be enhanced with more focus on events, actions, and interactions of characters outside of the bedroom.
If you’ve listened to books by J. R. Ward before, how does this one compare?
This was a decent read, compared to the other books, although I felt like there was more focus on the sex than on truly developing the characters. The stories are starting to feel a bit thin, and like they're more about who is going to have sex with whom, rather than truly exploring the essence of the characters.

Disappointed
I love this series and have both re-read and re-listened to all the previous books. However,(1) LM had so many story lines going at once, I stayed frustrated with all the interruptions to "peek" in on what's happening with other characters. (2) The two main characters must have had personality transplants because they were unrecognizable from the characters we came to know and love in previous books (3) the editing on the audiobook was awful. There are loooooong pauses and voice changes where , I'm guessing, errors were corrected. There were even a couple of places where ambient sounds were heard.
I have enjoyed the BDB series so much that it is difficult for me to critize anything J. R. Ward writes and I will continue to buy the BDB books. I just think that this time, the book did not live up to the hype.

Consistent writing, somewhat jarring narration.
If you're looking for another steamy Black Dagger Brotherhood book, in the tradition of the other Black Dagger Brotherhood books, this more or less fits the bill - better than some, worse than some - but chances are, you're not buying this to be surprised. I wasn't, and I wasn't disappointed by the plot. Whenever JR Ward takes her story back in time, the writing is stilted - Ward's just not in her element trying to make language or description seem historically accurate. Lots of "verily" or "hereunto" and just random historical accent words that good historical novelists wouldn't dream of using - but chances are, you're not reading the Black Dagger books because of the historical detail either. I wasn't. I wanted a steamy, paranormal, fast-paced adventure/sex/love story, and that's what you get.
However, the narration was a little jarring. Clearly the narrator would have been better suited to reading Thomas Hardy or Mark Twain or one of the other classics. JR Ward writes much of her prose in 21st-century slang, using terms like "fidiot" or "POS", to list a couple of the more vanilla. The prose is sort of a stream-of-consciousness of semi-thug vampires and other supernatural beings. Listening to this narrator try to master the perpetual slang was not unlike listening to an accountant read rap lyrics on public radio. Mostly the extremely correct pronunciations just made me smile - a few times I came close to laughing. If you can get past that, or it doesn't bother you, this book may be worth that credit.
Essentially, no surprises here in terms of what you'd expect from the book, and if you can hang in there with the narration, you'll have a basically satisfying experience.

The story line as always is fantastic... the recording/reader has to many gaps... the pause between the chapters and half way through certain areas makes me think something is wrong with my Ipod. Whom ever did the piecing together of the story/recording .. YOU suck.

I think I must be tired of the series
This one was not so great. I had trouble finishing it and that's even with fast forwarding through the sex scenes.
The plot jumped around between three or four different story lines and was not difficult to follow, but it wasn't enjoyable the way it kept skipping around. The characters of John Matthew and Xhex weren't true to their characters in previous novels at all. A reviewer on Amazon said, "Complicated subplots" and it's true.
Jim Frangione is a decent narrator but there were HUGE gaps in time when he read and a few times I could hear the director or someone else in the background. That was actually kinda cool in a way though.
I think I'm going to stop listening to this series now. It's just not enjoyable to me anymore.
