Publisher's Summary

Get this 32-hour box set of pure kickass military sci-fi - a thrill ride combining space opera and first contact!

Terminal Lance Lucky Lee Savage likes his life. Sure, doing PT hungover is a pain, but no one can dodge responsibility like he can - or sweet-talk the cooks into giving out double rations.

But when Lucky’s ambushed behind enemy lines and left for dead, along with a handful of privates so boot they actually respect his authority, he has to step up, manage the ambitions of his foul-mouthed AI, and figure out what’s tearing a hole in the fabric of space-time before everything goes haywire.

Lucky wouldn’t bet on the universe. One thing he will bet on: Somewhere, somehow, somebody is going to pay for all this. And he is going to be right there to pull the trigger.

If you like Aliens and Firefly, you'll love this funny, gritty, and endlessly entertaining series!

Fun, Full Throttle Action

This imaginative, futuristic military science fiction thriller series written by Joshua James is filled with virtually non-stop action. There is graphic violence, graphic language and gallows humor - ubiquitous Marine culture. The story is clever and brilliantly delivered with plenty of plot twists, betrayals, ulterior motives and snark. Each character is well crafted with their own unique complex personality. The main character, Lucky, is a bio-engineered Space Marine with an implanted female AI named Rocky, with advanced tactics, nanobots to provide enhanced healing and specialized cutting-edge tech and combat gear to improve his chances of survival. I especially enjoyed the evolving relationship and conversations between Lucky and Rocky. Rocky is a flawed, reluctant hero troubled with intriguing lost memories, nightmares, and unique insights. No spoilers. The narration by Mark Boyett was outstandingly entertaining and provided me with hours of listening pleasure. I was provided a free review copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this review.

Horrible repetition of the same battle over and over again

90 percent a repeat of the same battle with minor variations and 10 percent poor story. The first half of the first book was entertaining but the rest was so poor that I had to give up after forcing myself to read through the end of the second book.

great book series, excellent narration

I would definitely recommend this book series to anyone who enjoys military fiction. Each book is a little small and if I could ask for anything it would be to combine or lengthen the books. Mark Boyett provides a very emotional narration that I believe is worth the money for the box set.

Too busy of a storyline

I thought the series was good overall but there are a lot of parts where it was tough keeping track of what happened to which characters.

Rock and rolling marines

Only way these marines die is cutting their head off.

Otherwise nothing stops them.

Lucky is.

A very formable enemy.

Androids, AIs, empires and unions.

I really enjoyed it rocking and socking.

Audio book or computer game?

Glimpses of a story line. Gaming violence 95% of book. No point to this.

A gripping saga, with the odd excessively gory bit

Good story
Engaging, twisting, random saga that keeps you engaged and guessing at every step of the story.
Just beware there are a few passages where I think they went a little over the top on gory violence, sections the the book would suffer to lose, but apart from that thoroughly enjoyable for an adult.

Great Find!

I am new to Joshua James' books.
Bought this particular series because Mark Boyett has recommended it.
As usual his narration is excellent!
This series has action, interesting worlds/Aliens and is altogether good fun.
Now pls excuse me while I download the next books in the series!
