Story
Last year, author Lysa TerKeurst released the book Made to Crave, providing the Biblical answer to why people diet, regain the weight they lose, and continue to find themselves stuck in this vicious cycle. Made to Crave helped thousands of people finally achieve victory in their weight loss journey. But, according to TerKeurst, "We need more than 19 chapters to stay motivated and on track. That’s why I wrote this daily devotional with 60 inspirational entries. There is plenty of new material not in the original book...."

Story
Have you ever felt stuck in a seemingly endless cycle of overeating, yo-yo dieting, and obsessive thoughts about food? Whether you feel defeated by your lack of self-control or overwhelmed by thoughts and longings for food, the answer to our food fixation does not lie in the $500 billion global diet industry. This is not a diet book and it's not a healthy eating plan. Because at the core, our problem is not really what we eat. It's why we seek fullness in something that will never satisfy. A healthier relationship with food through a stronger relationship with Christ - that's the goal of Full.

Publisher's Summary
What would happen if you started listening to your cravings instead of trying to silence them? If you’re tired of the same old messages of eat less and move more, this audiobook is what you’ve been missing. You know “how to” get healthy...but now there’s finally an audiobook to help you find your “want to” - the lasting emotional and spiritual motivation to meet your goals and stay healthy.
The reality is we were made to crave. Craving isn’t a bad thing. But we must realize God created us to crave more of him. Many of us have misplaced that craving by overindulging in physical pleasures instead of lasting spiritual satisfaction. New York Times best-selling author of It’s Not Supposed to Be This Way, Uninvited, and The Best Yes, Lysa TerKeurst, invites you to find the missing link between a woman’s desire to be healthy and the spiritual empowerment necessary to make that happen.
In this audiobook, Lysa will help you:
- Break the cycle of “I’ll start again Monday” and feel good about yourself today.
- Stop agonizing over numbers on the scale and make peace with your body.
- Replace rationalizations that lead to failure with wisdom that leads to victory.
- Reach your healthy goals and grow closer to God through the process.
This is not a how-to audiobook. This is not the latest and greatest dieting plan. This audiobook is the necessary companion for you to use alongside whatever healthy lifestyle plan you choose. This is an audiobook and Bible study to help you find the "want to" in making healthy lifestyle choices.

Really good book, TERRIBLE NARRATOR
I haven't finished this book, but I really like it so far, enough that I also purchased the kindle version for deeper study.
The narrator, however, is awful. She sounds as though she is a kindergarten teacher reading a fairy tale to a class of little kids. Fortunately I have listened to enough audiobooks with less than great narrators so I am still able to continue listening to it, but Jill Brennan, try reading like you are speaking to intelligent adults. Thanks.

Life Changing Book!
Would you consider the audio edition of Made to Crave to be better than the print version?
I have prefered listening to this book though I own a printed version as well because it's a tough subject for me. Being able to listen has been easier to do as it really has made me take a hard look at my own habits, never an easy subject, and begin to change them. Hearing it makes me feel like I have a partner to help me make some difficult changes for the better!
What did you like best about this story?
We all have excuses we use to justify behavior that is less than stellar, in this case, how we handle food issues. The author, Lisa, has used all the same excuses I've had myself. Seeing them in print or hearing them read aloud makes me realize how wrong they are and how much I've been lying to myself and BELIEVING the lies! With God's help I'm beginning to see them for what they are and am starting to see changes in my attitudes and behavior. And isn't that why we read a book like this?
Any additional comments?
I love this book because it's causing me to realize that my walk with God can be sweeter and more personal as I invite Him into my struggle with food issues. It's nourishing my soul as it improves my physical health. What a great combination! This book came highly recommended by two close friends and I'm so glad I took their advice and read it! You should too!

literally painful to listen to
this might be one of the least favorite books I've downloaded and listened to. First of all the narrator's voice is so condescending and pitchy it took forever for me to finish this book cuz I could only listen to her in short doses. second of all, if you happen to be recovering from emotional eating like I am, you might find the content vary condescending and lacking empathy. if I heard one more reference to being a Jesus girl as the solution to all of my eating problems I would have thrown my phone out the window.

Narrator sounds like Velma from Scooby Doo
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Yes I would highly recommend the book, but not the the audio book. The content of the book is very good!
What other book might you compare Made to Crave to and why?
Well none really. It really is a new faith based perspective examining why we overeat.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jill Brennan?
She is by far the worst narrator I've ever listened to, so I think anyone would be better. I read the book first and then wanted to listen to the book as a reinforcer and I couldn't believe how the narrator managed to change the heartfelt and emotional message to sound just annoying. I expected her to start saying, "jeepers" and "zoinks" at any minute!

Prefer narration but Lysa, but still a great book.
I love non-fiction, inspirational audios. Having heard another book ready by the author, Lysa, I didn't enjoy Jill's narration by comparison. I like that this is a book I can listen to now and then six months later to hear a different message depending upon where I am in my journey. The first time I heard it, I didn't like it. Now I re-reading (listening) and I'm gleaning some truths that were more hidden the first time around. If you have always worried about your eating and never addressed it either with emotional self-help books or theray, the concepts here will be very awesome and really open your eyes.

Makes you think
I really enjoyed this book. It made me think about a lot more than food in my life. Lysa mentions several different things in life that can have a hold on us, things that we wouldn't even consider a "craving". I love the thought that "I am not fat even though my body may be". Our body is the container for our spirit like a glass holding water or a pretty box holding a present! The important part of us is the inside yet we spend so much time focused on the outside. Balance in life is focusing on the inside but not neglecting the outside.

A Great Book to Motivate!
Would you listen to Made to Crave again? Why?
Yes, I would listen again. The author uses Biblical references to explain why we should take care of our bodies and the importance of doing so. Listening to this often will remind me and keep me on the right track. This book should help motivate for all the right reasons.

Didn't know the Bible talked about food this much!
Would you listen to Made to Crave again? Why?
Yes. In fact, I'm listening to it for the second time. I'm very happy that I purchased this book so that I can listen over and over. There is so much information packed into it that I couldn't get all of it the first time through.
What did you like best about this story?
The understanding the author has of food cravings and how we can tap into God's unending strength.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did listen to much of it during a long run. Now I'm listening to it again...and taking notes.

Break the Vicious Cycle!
Would you consider the audio edition of Made to Crave to be better than the print version?
I didn't get the print version, as I have very limited time to read.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Made to Crave?
So many great quotes in this book! I listen to it repeatedly, to keep my mind focused on Biblical truth. Because I have received Christ by faith, I can access His power over food temptations by faith, and have seen this happen repeatedly as I follow Lysa's counsel to
What does Jill Brennan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Jill does a great job with expression, and her enthusiasm helped me feel Lysa's encouragement. I rated the reading 4 stars instead of 5 because of a few mispronounced words that initially confused me. These were obvious mistakes that should have been fixed by a review before final production, in my opinion.
Any additional comments?
I have studied the issue of wine in the Bible (mentioned in the first 2 minutes of the chapter on over-indulgence), and believe Lysa's pastor was dead-wrong and woefully ignorant to surmise the wine at Cana was alcoholic in nature. The scriptural evidence is overwhelming; get out a Strong's concordance and check out every reference to wine, you will find the same word is used for grape juice and for alcohol, and the meaning is determined by the context. Prov. 23:29-35 and other passages that are clearly talking about alcohol are undeniably against its consumption. Further, the Bible consistently uses yeast and fermentation to picture sin. In addition to these Biblical reasons, I also own a copy of a booklet by a pastor who visited Israel many years ago, and was able to see firsthand examples of traditional

Jill was brilliant
Many left bad reviews for the narrator Jill. However, that's not my experience. We all have different tastes and I love the way Jill read the book, with her own character. It sounded as if the authour herself was reading.
