Penguin presents the unabridged downloadable audiobook edition of Make Your Bed, written and read by William H. McRaven.
The incredible number one New York Times best seller.
Make your bed to change the world....
'What starts here changes the world' was the university slogan that inspired William H. McRaven to take charge of the small things that could change his life...and even the world. Here McRaven shares the 10 life-changing principles he learned during his 37 years as a Navy SEAL. These 10 philosophies helped him to overcome challenges not only in his career but also throughout his life. What's more anyone can use these basic lessons to change themselves, and the world, for the better....
Begin each day with a simple task, help one another through life, respect everyone, know that your life won't be fair and that you will fail often, take risks, step up when times are tough, face down the bullies, lift up the downtrodden and never, ever give up.
Do these things, and we will live in a far better world than the one before it....
Told with great humility and optimism, this timeless book provides simple and universal wisdom, practical advice and words of encouragement that will inspire listeners to achieve more even in life's darkest moments.

a summary of life's biggest pains
The life of the author is filled with impressive events and the narrative shows the strength of character he needed to overcome each of them. i didn't feel motivated by the book though. each chapter described an even greater drama than the previous, up to the point where I could not listen anymore to the last couple of chapters. While you develop as a reader sympathy for the author, I wonder if it is meant as a autobiography or as a motivational book. In my opinion, the book does not motivate, it rather showcases the tragedy of life.

Missed opportunity
Basic. On the surface. Emotionless. Detached. Seems like the book was produced in one day. I genuinelly believe that Admiral has some nice and inspiring stories to tell. But he did not put the effort to tell them to us. This short book felt like an avarega ad to become a navy seal. I recommend listening to Cant hurt me by David Goggins as that is a verz similiar book in terms of its topic and goal, but is just SO MUCH better.

compelling advice, but...
Some great examples here, from someone who's clearly been through a lot, and his approach to life has helped him do this.
However if you have no interest in the military, or the elite squads, or how awesome commander X was, the constant military terms are quite tiresome.

Some good stories and points but quite short.
Once you get to the points of do one task like make your bed and never quit there wasn't much else apart from how hard Seal training is. I felt there was more which could of been told.

A guide for life
Would you consider the audio edition of Make Your Bed to be better than the print version?
Any book narrated by the author will have an extra "something" compared to the printed version and this book is no different.
What did you like best about this story?
The short chapters make this an easy book to "dip into".
What about Admiral William H. McRaven’s performance did you like?
The Admiral isn't a trained actor or performer but this adds to the authenticity and enhances his genuine respect for those who have guided and influenced his life.
Any additional comments?
I would like to think one day the Admiral will write a more extensive autobiography and share an insider's view of the World we now live in and it's recent history.

Life changing
I absolutely loved this book! Not only were the stories real, but the narrating had me on the edge of my seat and it had me crying, laughing, and cheering along the way. Although I thoroughly enjoyed it I did find it somewhat confronting at the same time. When someone can relay stories of such unimaginable occurances of some incredible men to get across the morals that are very relevant in your life is crazy! I have learnt alot about myself through listening to this and have identified not only some of my strengths, but also how to deal with some of my weaknesses.
A very powerful story indeed, absolutely loved it.

Great simple strategies to change your life.
Start the day by making your bed. Sounds simple and it is so true. One properly completed task at the beginning of the day compounds into many tasks being completed that day. I tried it and it works.
The author narrates his works. The admiral is easy to listen to and tells of many of his personal experiences while training and being a Navy Seal throughout the book. It’s a brief book full of simple concepts you can put into practice daily to improve your life and accept and overcome the times when life is not fair. I enjoyed and recommend this audio book.
