Publisher's Summary
When her son is accused of a violent crime, church first lady Gloria Jones finds herself battling his prosecutor - as well as her own inner demons - to save him in this drama-filled novel from best-selling, award-winning author ReShonda Tate Billingsley.
Gloria Jones is living a mother's worst fear. There's a massive manhunt for her son after a regular night out with friends escalated into the fatal shooting of a police officer. Her husband, esteemed minister Elton Jones, is humiliated by the news, complicating an already strained relationship with his son. And everyone in Jasper, Texas, a town already ripe with racial tension, is up in arms. But the killer they're searching for isn't the son Gloria knows, and now she must decide whether to turn him in or help him run.
As the 17-year-old battles for his life, Gloria turns to the woman hell-bent on bringing him to justice - prosecutor Kay Christiansen. Kay has built a solid record putting criminals behind bars, and now, as she's about to ride the record to the city's top spot - mayor of Houston - this new case could threaten everything she's worked for. But a mother's love knows no boundaries, and Gloria will have to face an ugly past and tackle painful secrets in an effort to save her son.

Go on ReShonda, this was one of your best!
If you could sum up Mama's Boy in three words, what would they be?
Held My Attention
What was one of the most memorable moments of Mama's Boy?
SPOILER: When the prosecuting attorney received her own personal wake up call and had to face her own demons with her son that she thought was one of the best and brightest kids because he was raised in a "good home". Don't get me wrong, he was a good kid, but he was not perfect and just like any other, he had his own issues and was crying out for help. In fact, this was one of the predictable story lines in the book. I KNEW she was going to get hers in the end.
Which character – as performed by Myra Lucretia Taylor – was your favorite?
It's been a while that I've listened to a book narrated by Myra Lucretia Taylor and I must say that she did an excellent job. However, I cannot say that any of the characters really stood out that much in the book. It would have been nice to have multiple narrators because it always helps the flow of the story.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
SOMEWHAT OF A SPOILER: Yes, the ending. I was not expecting that outcome at all especially in the society that we live in. The way the judge handled the case showed her concern for ALL parties involved to the point where she was not being one-sided as with all other cases I've seen.
Any additional comments?
This book really held my attention and there are many lessons that can be learned throughout. In fact, it was such a good read, that I'm considering it for my next book club reading. Although we live out this type of story every day in the news, I can honestly say that many moments in the book were not quite that predictable. Just when I was picking myself up off the ground from one revelation another one seemed to crop up. So, the book definitely held my attention and if you are looking for a good, positive, realistic book, this one is it. You will NOT be disappointed! I was so glad that I stumbled across this book.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, this book was a good read from the beginning to end. This story was so real. Your faith can get so weak when trouble comes running away seems like the best solution. Each charter went through something. This book showed a very good illustration of how over coming trials in our lives will make us stronger in the Lord.
What did you like best about this story?
The unconditional love the stepmother (Gloria Jones) had for the son that was not biologically hers. How she had the courage to fight for him against all odds.
Which scene was your favorite?
The judge ruling.... Loved every word.
If you could take any character from Mama's Boy out to dinner, who would it be and why?
If I could take a character from Mama's Boy out to dinner, I would take the stepmother (Gloria Jones) because the love and compassion she had for her child made her to be supermom to me. She fought for her child like Jesus fights for his children.

WOW!!! A MUST READ/LISTEN!!!
One of my favorite authors has done it AGAIN!! Real life situations that rang true, currently! What I like most was the story was very relatable from the pastor and his cravings, lies, and “MIS”use of position to how police officers treat black people! The betrayal of Kay’s friends/employee was also another reality for many. I disliked that Camille (Kay’s best friend) was ready to blackmail Kay, although, Camille made VERY valid points. The justice system DEFINITELY needs to be revamped, as black people are GUILTY until proven INNOCENT (DEFUNDING IS NECESSARY)!!!! All in all, we need more black men like Phillip (a biracial man identifying as a black man)!! Reaping and sowing = Settling the score!!!! Believe your child(ren) because Bruh Passah be lying!!!
