Story
Game on! Adam is the first person to reach level 10 and leave the Village of Beginnings, but before he can even reach the Sun Continent, the vessel he’s on is attacked by pirates! Age of Gods continues to be the most realistic game he has ever played. Nothing about it is like the old VR games of yesteryear, and he isn’t just talking about how oddly real the non-player characters act.

Story
Kevin Swift has the worst luck with women. It’s not that he’s unattractive or even unpopular. He just can’t talk to them. He blames it on all those shōnen love comedies he enjoys watching. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on who’s asking, Kevin’s love life is about to start looking up. After saving a fox’s life, Kevin discovers that he actually rescued a kitsune, a shape-shifter capable of transforming into a beautiful girl who appears to have popped right out of the pages of a shōnen manga. Her name is Lilian, and she apparently wants to mate with him.

Gregory and his wives fought honorably and hard to advance to the finals, where their last fight was against the Eternal Flame. With their rigorous training and communication, they managed to defeat the arrogant clan, letting them stand alongside their novice friends as champions. The excitement of being the champions wasn’t the happiest part of their year, though. That came after the tournament, when all five of their friends—Nessa, Daciana, Victoria, Clover, and Ling—joined Aether’s Guard.

Warner spent his days like almost anyone else. He got up, went to work, answered phone calls in a call center, went home, spent time with his daughter, and went to sleep. Only to repeat the pattern over and over and over. Life was as mundane as anyone could ever fear it to be. Today was the day that all that would change. On this day, his daughter Maya would be nearly fatally injured, plunging Warner into a world of paranormal creatures, monsters, and magic he’d never known existed. The only consolation is that he discovers he’s not quite human, either.

Have you ever felt like there was something inside of you pushing your actions? A dormant beast, so to speak. I know it sounds crazy. But, that’s the best way I could describe how I’ve felt for a long time. I thought it was normal, some animal part of the human brain that lingered from evolution. But, this is the story of how I learned I wasn’t exactly human, and there was a world underneath our own where all the things that go bump in the night live. And, that my beast was very real indeed.

Falling through a portal and becoming a dragon shifter was strange enough. But, when I devoured a demon core and gained access to a forbidden quest system, my life changed forever. Sintar was like Earth in many ways. It had a blue sky, green grass, and air that I could breath. The demon attacks and shifter magic, however, were new. Every man and woman in Sintar had the ability to change their form. And now, that included me. And the gorgeous, silver-haired wolf girl I saved on my first day.

Publisher's Summary
Game on!
Ever since various world governments signed the World War III Armistice, the virtual world has become even more important than the real world.
Adam does not care for the virtual world. His only concern is curing his terminally ill lover, but with Aris on the verge of death, he is running out of time and hope.
When a woman called Fayte comes knocking on his door with a proposal, he is all too happy to accommodate her. She will cure Aris of her supposedly incurable disease with experimental technology that has never been tested. In exchange, Adam will enter the newest VRMMORPG, Age of Gods, to help Fayte win a bet against her father.
He enters the game, creates his character, and is ready to rock. But before he can even think of helping Fayte with her bet, he must first leave the Village of Beginnings by reaching level 10.
Can Adam prove his worth by being the first person to complete the dreaded tutorial stage?
Warning: This series is rated R18 for explicit content. It does not fade to black.

It's hard for me to listen
I've been playing games my whole life and this book game design is so weirdly bad. The game is grind heavy apparently but this guy gets level 10 in what 3 days? When everyone level is averaging 5-6. And it just seems so dumb like this guy gets a head start on millions of people because he did a starter quest? So he's the only one out of millions who did a quest or something even though he pretty much sat through the entire tutorial introduction wasted that time compared to the people that immediately went straight to grinding? Plus like this guy apparently played games before and was world famous once but he gets surprised at the concept of a inventory?like WHAT?!? And what's up with this fayte chick who the hell tracks someone down for no reason other than "he walks with a deadly grace" that reason and conclusion to who he WAS is so stupid. Plus manz is trying to live a happy life with his dying wife why the hell are you intruding on that to seek help for your personal problems like this man dying wife is more important than your family allowance competition.
Man there's a lot wrong with this book but I can put thoughts into words right. Like I do not like this book but I can see how it can be good. Feels like a the author doesn't know how realistic the gaming world is. Like people complete 60hr games in a week's time. Will find a way to cheese any mechanic, will have guides on classes in abilities day 1, and will do exact same thing hours on in for the smallest reward or just bragging rights. The people in this book act like my grandmother when she tried VR for the first time and these people are supposed to be big gamers part of some military guild or something? Idk but yeah. I'll stick with your other book Wietfjjduyjbdujhg or whatever because this one right here AIN'T IT.

Poor Game Design
Poor game design in a game lit story translates into poor world building. No amount of highly realistic feel will keep people invested. If the game is heavy on grind, combat is dull, 5 hours in and theres still no meta narrative for the game world makes for boring game to play and even more boring game to read about characters playing.
I loved Wiedergeburt. Cat girl doctor and A Most Unlikely Hero were good. Man Made God is boring.

MC is a pervert
In the first few pages, the author shows our main character imagining sexual acts with a 17-year-old invalid girl. Not only is that way too intimate for a character we just met, it's also technically statutory rape since our MC is 19 years old. To ratchet the perversion up a notch, the girl is his adopted sister. Yes, they're not genetically related, but it still triggers the gag reflex.
I'm already inclined to return the book, but I force myself to soldier on. The very next page has the MC meet another woman and he immediately starts obsessing over the size of her breasts, comparing them to the breasts of the former object of his lust, his 17-year-old sister/lover. Geez, what a creep. This is all I can stand.

very well done
all right so I'm familiar with some of this author's work. One of us series is complete and one that I am waiting on bated breath for the next installment. Well I wait I decided to try another series from this author and I have to say I'm loving it. this book was a good opener especially considering that the specific writing type is new to the author. At the time of this review the first two books are available in audio form and the third one is available as an ebook. Book for supposed to be out December 14th. I'm moving on the book to right now and I've already purchase book 3 as an e-book so I'm going to say I recommend the series.
