Not great

I have to say this story isn't bad, but I can't tell if the writing is not up to par, or if it is the way the narrator reads the story. Or both. The narrator gives different words more emphasis than others and things that shouldn't have any emphasis get some. Both narrators have good voices for book production, but I think the narrator might be doing line reading and not really "reading" what he's narrating. The emphasis is only part of it, there are points where it feels like he has ended a sentence, but was really only part-way through. If I hadn't received this book for free to give a review I think I would have asked for my money back. It was a slog to get through.

meh

First 2 chapters are pointless. Lots of repetition. 60 year old man sounds 80, 15 year old boy sounds 10. Cid doesn't understand farming, as we are told again and again. I don't think the author understands farming. It's a slog to get through.

A wholesome story from Wolfe and Falcon

Loved this peaceful tale of farming in a small village. The characters felt real, like people I knew. A charming slice of life with a great third act twist!

Didn't Know What to Expect...

I had orginally looked at this just because of the title including Mana, but then I noticed that it was about farming... I won't lie, I became hesitant. but my interest was peaked by the Blurb.
So I jumped in and found I really liked the change of pace compared to most books. The easy going with some action here and there. I have come to really like Slice of Life stories!
And well, I found myself smiling and laughing throughout this story. It's just a lot of fun, focused more on the MC trying to become something, someone, different. And finding out the mystery of his new life as not only a farmer but also a magic user. The other characters surrounding our MC are fun and unique, having great nuances!
I believe this is Jahn's best work with narration! And Alexa does an amazing job with creating her accents for the female characters!

I'm looking forward to the next book!

A fun chance of peace

This was a nice change of pace, slice of life litrpg. I thought the story was though out and developed well and proceeded at a pace you would expect from this type of story. Recommended if you're looking for something else that's not filled multi-chapter battles.

I recommend the book

This is the first book that I've gotten from either of these authors. It appears to me that there are writing team and they have quite a number of works out and available both in eBook form and on audio. This is a dual narration audiobook, and the narrators are familiar to me. Both appear to be relatively new and are employees of the Actors Everywhere group. Both of them executed a fantastic performance. The story is about a guardsman retiring to a farm. The book starts with his last days as guardsmen and then moves to traveling to the new area where he's going to farm. The farm that he ends up with is heavily overgrown in nature's bid to reclaim what's it’s. It turns out that farming is harder than he thought. He does get a gift from a friend of his who is a magical knight. Now he's got magic of his own though it's supposed to be a secret and he has to figure out how to use it. On his farm he finds a mana tree. I have enjoyed the story and after some checking I found out that book two is currently available in eBook form and book three is scheduled for a release on October 15th, 2022. I believe the audio for book two is supposed to be released shortly although I have no knowledge of the exact release date. I recommend the series to anybody reading this review and would just like to say thank you to everybody who had a hand in bringing this book to us the audible listeners.

Fun story

This was a fun story and I could see it ending here. I hope that's not the case but either way it was enjoyable.

A surprisingly good change of pace

This simply worked. It was a complete change of pace to my usual audible books and it was surprisingly good.

A nice story marred by sub-par narration.

The story is pretty good with nice characters, although the first two chapters are wobbly and the author uses the word "lad" almost every 3 sentences, which got fairly painful, but overall enjoyable story!

But MY GOD what happened with the narration? Audio levels are all over the place, mic quality the same, with lines obviously stitched in at a later time and with a way worse mic. The MC is a 38 year old veteran but sounds like he's 21 at most, all stumbly and hesitant. The narration has a couple of repeated lines that should have been edited out and notes given to Alexa that system menus don't have to be YELLED at the listener.

But the cardinal sin of the narration is that more than once the characters are eating and Markus SMACKS HIS LIPS like he's eating! I have misophonia so I almost stopped listening there and then.

Now do keep in mind that some of what I said can be seen as nitpick but it's my feedback. If these things are not as huge of a deal to you then the story is enough to carry you through the rough parts. Or just buy the book.
