Publisher's Summary

A dazzling 'tell-most' memoir: poignant and laugh-out-loud funny scenes from the life of actor Minnie Driver.

I love stories. I have mostly told other people's, but now, in telling my own, I realise how all our stories are connected by that great leveller of acclaim, loss, fortitude and fortune: being human.

When I look at my life from the alleged halfway point, some patterns are revealed: one, that the story does not necessarily begin or end where it should; two, happy endings are overrated. And three, happy endings are almost never the end.

This book is memoir-ish. A tell-most. Largely because there's a lot I don't remember, and a lot that's not worth talking about.

So, this is a collection of stories about how things not working out—worked out in the end. How reaching for the dream is easily more interesting, expansive, sad and funny than the dream itself coming true.

I really hope you enjoy it.

Love, Minnie x

This audiobook includes an exclusive bonus track with Minnie Driver and Emma Forrest in conversation.

It's exquisite

This is a beautifully written (and performed, of course) book. I just loved every mouthful.
My favourite part was Henry's birth, when Minnie said "Thank god YOU'RE here." I was very touched.

Beautifully written

Really hope Minnie writes more books, this book is so beautifully written. Didn’t want it to end. Daffodils was a difficult chapter for me as I experienced a similar situation with my mother, but Minnie’s warmth and love through her words was so comforting to me.

You’ll Listen to This More Than Once

This memoir is extraordinary. Vignettes of an unusual life, the highs and lows. Minnie Driver is perceptive, and searingly honest, but she doesn’t take herself too seriously, and is also absolutely hilarious.

Listening to her reading this so beautifully reminded me what a good actress she is. I listened to it again as soon as I’d finished it, and after a couple of days, I listened to it once more.

I don’t know what I was expecting, but it certainly wasn’t this poignant, honest, and funny romp through an extremely interesting life.

A great insight into the life of Minnie Driver

I enjoyed the insight into the life of Minnie Driver. I loved that she read the book herself. I think a career in reading audio books is their for the taking should she choose to, her voice is just lovely to listen too.

Having only seen her on screen (and shunned tabloids) I had no preconceptions or insight into her life, so I listened with genuine interest and surprise about her up bringing, schooling, acting, self doubt, travel, pregnancy and recent passing of her mother.

I feel that the book skims the surface of areas that many may be seeking, this is by no means a kiss and tell, nether an insight in to the world of Hollywood, and that fine by me. Although gross point blank does get a wee mention, I love that movie.

P.s. people who count babies age in weeks (beyond the first month) is infuriating.

Utterly beautiful, moving and funny

Minnie Driver has always seemed a bit of a Hollywood oddity to me, so when I heard her talking about her book with Chris Evans my ears pricked up. I ordered it straight away and I am so glad I've listened to it, as hearing Minnie reading it made it even more poignant.
Presented as a set of stories dipping into key moments of Minnie's life, it's beautifully written and gives you a glimpse into her world and why she is who she is.
I utterly loved it and was rather sad to get to the end.

So funny and insightful!

I enjoyed every moment - so glad that I listened to the audiobook. She tells her story with so much humour and sincerity, I don’t think the voice in my head while reading the book could do it justice.

Loved it

Minnie Drive is a born storyteller, loved her narrative and the story of Miami was absolutely brilliant. I enjoyed hearing her honest, raw and beautiful story, my heart aches for her in the final chapters and I am so grateful to have read this memoir.

Absolute Heaven

Such a lovely reading of her own book, it’s wonderful from beginning to end. Sometimes sad, often hilarious, it’s full of really interesting self- reflection (not inane Hollywood type, the proper English type), a little philosophy - most often from her mother, and, on the audible version, the pleasure of listening to her sing a great song about saving a tree from her school days. Write another Minnie, please.

Marvellous Minnie

I really loved this book. In the movies we get to know her characters but in this book we get to know Minnie. I really enjoyed this highly personal performance.
