Story
Joseph the Bellmaker is troubled. It has been four seasons since his warrior-mouse daughter, Mariel, and her companion, Dandin, set off from Redwall to fight evil in Mossflower. Nothing has been heard of them since. Then one night, in a dream, the legendary Martin the Warrior comes to the Bellmaker with a mysterious message. Clearly, Mariel and Dandin are in grave danger. Joseph and four Redwallers set off at once to aid them. As they push over land and sea, they cannot know the terrible threats they face: the impossible Foxwolf, Urgan Nagru, his mate Silvamord, and their army.

A one-man team of experts, Stephen Leeds is a genius of unparalleled mental capabilities who can learn new skills or master entire scholarly disciplines in mere hours. However, these skills come at a price. Stephen must compartmentalize his brain, with each of his new skill sets being held by an “aspect”—a hallucination his mind creates with their own fully-developed personality, life, and limitations. Without these aspects, and the delicate construct of reality they provide for him, Stephen is unable to control his mind and engage with the real world.

Publisher's Summary
A shadow has fallen on the shore of the Eastern sea, a shadow called Marshank. In this cold stone fortress, a stoat named Badrang holds dozens of innocent creatures as slaves, part of his scheme to build an empire where he will rule as unquestioned tyrant.
Among those slaves is a mouse named Martin who has a warrior's heart and a burning desire for freedom: freedom not only for himself, but for all of Badrang's victims. There is no risk he will not take, no battle he will not fight, to end the stoat's evil reign, and in the process regain the sword of his father, Luke the Warrior: the sword that Badrang stole from him when he was but a lad.
Once again master storyteller Brian Jacques has crafted an epic adventure and filled it to the bursting point with unforgettable characters, including villains so hilariously evil you'll barely be able to keep from hissing at them and loveable woodland creatures so brave you'll want to stand and cheer as they fight for their freedom.
Critic Reviews
Praise for the Redwall series
“Brian Jacques has the true fantasy writer’s ability to create a wholly new and believable world.” (School Library Journal)
“Redwall is both an incredible and ingratiating place, one to which readers will doubtless cheerfully return.” (New York Times Book Review)
“An excellent adventure with an enlightened conscience. Brilliantly complex. With vibrant and distinct animal characters, Jacques’s classically inspired plot-weaving achieves virtuosity.” (Publishers Weekly)

A Fireside Tale for all Ages
The tales of Redwall narrated by the author Brian Jacques with his thick brog and a full cast of voices are a ticket to the unique theater of the mind. Reminiscent of radio drama mixed with the delightful fantasy of a JRR Tolkien Hobbit tale and the satisfaction and pleasure we all felt the first time we watched The Princess Bride. These books are filled with swashbuckling mice, evil stoats and weasels, heros and champions, romance and families, all spun together by a master storyteller who paints pictures of the world of forrest creatures so vivid that I could smell the oatmeal scones with maple cream.
Delightful!

Return to Childhood, with a Smile
An old favorite, I've always loved this story in book form. But now that I've listened to it in audio form, I've found new love for a childhood staple. A large cast contributes to a rich voice of characters, with the narration read by none other than the author himself. A must-listen to any fans of the Redwall-verse, and a beautifully-crafted piece of art to any connoisseur.

Brilliant
It is so brilliant to have a full cast to record an audio book. I first started The Redwall Series in 5th grade with his first book 'Redwall' and immediately fell in love. Brian Jacques is a rare writer who makes you feel as his characters do. For a work of fiction to make you feel anything is a great feat, Jacques understands this and creates characters that all deserve their own tale. This is a great series to read and an even better one to listen to

In this epic tale of love and war, Martin's true backstory is revealed. It shows the events set before the book of Mossflower, and reveals how Martin became the solitary warrior that he is. Narrated by the author, the setting, characters, and plot are all exceptional. Can't recommend this entire series enough.

very funny adventure
I listened to redwall before hearing this book, and this book was very funny. the rabbit in each book sounded and acted far to similarly, but everything else was quite different. the story was very well thought out. the actor's brought the characters to life. the plot was a little forced, but it worked out in the end. the jokes were very cute, and it made the redwall book sound boring in comparison. a great listen for adults and children. however, the person reading the chapter numbers was distracting... I was honestly waiting to see if she would crock it the middle of announcing a chapter.
