Publisher's Summary

Mary Kate Malone runs away to Liverpool and into all kinds of trouble in this sequel to Shadows In Heaven - from the best-selling author of The Four Streets trilogy and the Lovely Lane series.

Liverpool, 1963. Mary Kate Malone is 17 and bitterly unhappy that her father has married again after the death of her mother. On her last day at school, she decides to leave home in Tarabeg on the west coast of Ireland and head for Liverpool to find her mother's sister. But absolutely nothing goes to plan. Within hours of disembarking, she finds herself penniless and alone, with no place to stay and no idea how she will survive. Meanwhile, back in Ireland, where old sins cast long shadows, a long-buried secret is about to come to light and a day of reckoning, in the shape of a stranger from America, will set an unstoppable chain of events in motion.

I loved this book

Yet another great book from Nadine, I really hope there is a follow on. through out heartbreak & tears there is such humour. I do love the characters & the sense of community in Tarabeg & Liverpool. I love the Narrative too, such great ascents & feelings her her voice. Excellent.

Enjoyable book with another good story

Having read the 1st book Shadows in Heaven which I enjoyed. I wasn’t disappointed apart from the narrator not pronouncing some words wrongly eg Neil Sedaka. I had to rewind to listen again so I could make it out. There is scope for another book in this series if the author wishes to.

Great story

love these stories by Nadine , and although the narrator tells the story well she certainly hasn't mastered the Liverpool accent, she'd have been better not trying !

left me wanting more.

Once again Nadine Dorries has written a story that draws you in.....keeps you wanting more.
The narrators Liverpool accent was terrible providing a Yorkshire twist instead. Luckily this didn't spoil the storyline.

I’m now looking forward to the last epilogue. This story always takes me back into a peaceful state and grateful for what we have now.

Great story, terrible narrative

Sadly the attempt at a Liverpool accent which by far missed the mark, ruined listening to the book for me.
