Publisher's Summary

When college freshman Rowan Michaels meets gorgeous, up-and-coming rock star Adam Everest, she knows a player like him is the last thing she needs after her ex-boyfriend shattered her heart. But she can't stop thinking about the kiss they shared on his tour bus.

On the first day of school, Rowan is stunned when Adam saunters into her French class. He's soon failing miserably, and, on a whim, she offers to tutor him. But Adam doesn't recognize her as a makeup-free, glasses-clad college student - a far cry from the beautiful, mysterious "Peach" he met at his concert.

During a wild weekend on tour with the band, Rowan can't help falling for the sweet guy buried beneath Adam's rocker persona. Yet she knows she could never compete with the girls constantly throwing themselves at his feet. She'd just end up hurt... again.

Peach is all Adam thinks about, though, and when Rowan realizes this, she has a decision to make: stay just friends to protect her fragile heart... or reveal the truth about the night they met and admit she's fallen completely, hopelessly in love with him.

I love a feel good love story and a Rock Star!

YES!!! I love a good book with very little unnecessary drama! This was a great book! It has rock stars, college students, great friends and love, what more could you ask for?

Adam is a rock star and comes across at first a little douchy but that lasts about 2.5 seconds for me! He is actually a good guy who meets a girl once and can't stop thinking about her. Don't get me wrong, he's a slut and a jerk to other girls but only the ones who care only about his career. Rowan is a sweet girl who is naive and innocent (yep my one eye roll in the book). She has a great heart and wants to help Adam even if he might not deserve her help. She has a crappy ex who thankfully makes his own bed and paves the way for Adam! This book just made me happy all around! Started Riot as soon as I finished because I NEEDED Dee's book!

Andi Arndt was great narrating this book as always! Not really sure why they has a second narrator for 1 chapter but Adam Verner did good in small part he narrated but he didn't fit the voice of Adam to me.

YA/ New Adult, College Aged, Rock Star, Romance

Would you consider the audio edition of Mayhem to be better than the print version?

Never read print.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Mayhem?

Lol, "Please?"!!!

Have you listened to any of Andi Arndt and Adam Verner ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

See below.

Any additional comments?

OK, so there is only one other review on here (at this time) and I think this book deserves a review from a different prospective. This is a YA/ New Adult Romance novel, with college aged students as the main characters. Personally I enjoyed the pace of the novel. I think the interaction between the female lead and male lead was... enjoyable, frustrating, and funny at times. Yes, they don't really get very physical till the last few chapters (excluding the beginning). And wow, ya, things get a little steamy. All I have to say is 10, 9, 8... Any who, they have some great chemistry going on through most of the story, whenever they are together. The story focuses mostly on the getting to the b/g relationship. So they have a relationship throughout most of the book just not in a relationship during the plot. But fear not there is plenty of teasing going on along with the crazy frustrating reasoning on why they can't be together. Lol, I admit even I got a little confused on their reasoning at times. But the author took what could have been a used story line and went off in a couple different directions I wasn't expecting. And I think that's what made the book for me. That, and great supporting characters (Peaches friends), some pretty funny moments, and well Adam! "Please?" made me do the stupid fan girl giggle thing (I hate that, but jeez!) Which leads me to the awesomeness of the narrator, Andi! Who made you forget you weren't watching a movie but listening to a book, and she was the only voice speaking. Enough said. A job well done. Now, the random male narrator at the very end did kind of throw me out of the story a little. I just wasn't expecting it. I think he did a good job, but I just wasn't a fan of the sound of his voice. I just couldn't picture that voice on Adam. Huh, oh well. The change of view was interesting and different (I actually think I liked it, I think). Plus it warped up some loose endings. So what can you, do? For its genre (YA/ New Adult romance) I think this has to be one of the better novels I've listened to. Perhaps in the top 10. Needless to say if you aren't interested in this type of genre then I wouldn't recommend. But if you are and you enjoy handsome, sweet, bad boy rock stars and corny HEA endings I recommend this novel and can't wait for the next one to be released! In disclosure I am in the targeted age group for this novel.

Sooo sweet.

Very sweet young adult romance. Loved the chemistry between the characters. Very nice read, relaxing, not as much drama as the usual bad boy rocker books.

Slow burn with a scorching finish

My best Audible buddy recommended this one to me and although I tend to not enjoy rocker books, I absolutely loved this one. It takes place with the characters in college, so NA which is perfect for me.

The slow, slow burn of this story kept me amped and wanton and just when I was going to get frustrated, the explosion happened and it was so good and so amazing.

Andi Arndt narrates 99% of this book with Adam Verner just having the last chapter. Andi is perfection with any character but she excels at alpha, bad boys and that's what we had here. The one chapter Adam did was great.

Surprised by how much I loved this book!

What a good listen! I got this solely based on the reviews, and they weren't wrong! The perfect amount of drama, comedy, and sex appeal kept me hooked and I couldn't stop listening. Rowen might have gone a little crazy sometimes, but it was part of her wholesome, naïve charm. And yes, Adam is the perfect rockin', swoon-worthy hero. If you like this genre, you'll love this book!

Fantastic listen

This story is so well written with an exciting hero and strong heroine that really draw you in. The supporting characters are fun and developed well. By the end, you feel like you are part of the story, you know everyone so well. As stated by other reviewers, the sex does not come until the end, but it comes at the perfect moment for the story. So many authors miss this concept. Sometimes a story needs more sex scenes, but so many times they are just thrown in to fill pages. I was never bored, never felt the story was missing anything. Yes, it is more of a YA, but a good romance is a good romance, no matter the age.

I love Andy Arndt's narration. Her first performance for me was Lick, one of my all time favorite rock romances. She did an excellant job here as well.

If you love a romance that will stay with you long after you finish, don't let this one pass you by. I will be following this auther for more great romance...

Great Start to a New Adult Series !

Shaw is a New to Me author and I am so glad that I gave MAYHEM a chance cause I really enjoyed the storyline, the characters and I am so excited to get my ears (hands) on RIOT and see what happens with Joel and Dee!

Sometimes a New Adult can get too angsty and depressing, but MAYHEM was just the right amount of secret crush emotion mixed with tons of humor and just light-hearted goodness! Great debut for the series!

Good - it lags a bit but strong ending

Any additional comments?

There was a huge lag in the middle of the book. HUGE LAG. That section could have been cut back considerably to make the story stronger. That being said, the end was really good and overall it was entertaining.

Just a Heads Up about this book

It wasn’t riveting, it didn’t keep you guessing, and it had very predictable ending.
Narration by Andi Arndt was as always was wonderful. That kept me listening to the end.
This was basically a virgin girl meets Rock Star, and on that same night she saw her boyfriend with another women and he rescued her. The rest is a chase of emotions as she is naive but he see’s her as no one ever before, so he keeps fighting for her to give in to him.

I think I’ve listened to one too many books like this and I wish more of them had better stories and more “WOW or OMG” in the middle of them. Oh well. It’s romance books, so here’s to looking for better ones.

I guess I like the concept

I liked the idea of this story. But it got a little weird at the end (not a fan of the word moist). And there was so much slut shaming!!

Wonderful and witty

This book has everything I hold dear in a great book, fantastic characters, lovely twists and turns, romantic and sexy and funny ...

The narrative was perfect and added that extra dimension Andi Arndt is as usual fabulous ... This is the first time I've ever listened to Adam Verner and although I didn't feel his contribution was needed it was very pleasing

not very interesting

Struggled to finish. The main female character in the story was insipid and pale. I found it hard to believe in a connection between the two main characters.

3.5-4*

Really cute story - loved the narration and who doesn't love a rockstar romance. I just wish they were a little bit older (was comparing to Kylie Scotts series a bit too) but a good listen. Will repeat this one down the line and listen to the rest of the series for sure
