Publisher's Summary

The surprising story of how wrestling superstar Glenn "Kane" Jacobs beat all the odds to become the mayor of Knox County, Tennessee.

Even in his heyday in wrestling, Jacobs was inspired to pursue politics by popular libertarian figures such as former Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul, Republican Senator Rand Paul, Fox News' Judge Andrew Napolitano and others, and that led him to fulfill his own political ambitions.

Before becoming Mayor Kane, Glenn "Kane" Jacobs was one of WWE's top Superstars for over two decades and traveled the globe with the likes of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, John Cena, Ric Flair, and many others. He dominated the WWE with The Undertaker as the "Brothers of Destruction." Kane reinvented himself with the help of Daniel Bryan forming "Team Hell No." He set "Good ol' JR", Jim Ross on fire.

The wrestler-turned-politician hasn't hung up his wrestling boots yet. Politics is a contact sport and Jacobs is using his wrestling skills in that arena. Jacobs supports President Trump and his agenda, and is implementing conservative policies in Tennessee.

As a life long Kane fan...

The book was alright. More of a glossing over of his career.

If you listen to any wrestling podcast (Something to Wrestle or Grilling JR) you can get more of a behind the scenes look then Glenn gives. It seemed like he was just giving bullet points and spent a lot of time just repeating how so and so was his favorite to deal with...until the next story came along and that person was his favorite.

Obviously because of the title of the book, I expected some politics talk but it got to the point of just self promotion and not actual politics talk.

All in all, if you listen to wrestling podcast, you wont hear (read) anything new or exciting in this book.

Good not great

This was a decent book but overall I felt like he was repeating a lot of the stuff I remembered from TV, his road stories are probably the best part of this book but I find them scarce compared to other books by his colleagues. I had to stop listening towards the end because his rants on politics got a bit tiresome and I wish he could've filled more of his book with less of politics and more of fascinating stories and his views on fellow performers. Also I respect his view on Vince and agree with many of his points on the man but its kind of obvious he views the dude through rose colored glasses.

I appreciate his enthusiasm and gave his performance 5 stars because performance is what he excels at the best but everything else was a hit and miss in terms of holding my interest.

Applause

Wow! Being an avid wrestling fan I had to hear what stories Glenn Jacobs tells about his life and career. Not only did I find the biography intriguing, but Mr. Jacobs does an excellent job narrating his work. I also enjoy the fact that when it gets political it is expressed in opinion and not fact. Makes it much more palatable and less intimidating to hear the things the mayor has to say. Definitely enjoyed this.

Glenn Jacobs

I always wondered who Glenn Jacobs was, not Kane and he tells all in this Book. Glenn Jacobs and Kane are 2 completely different individuals, Kane was a Monster but Glenn Jacobs is a Educated, Loving Man.

Too much real politics, not WWE politics!

No shocks nor great stories; his personal political beliefs are naïve "American Dream" chasing flannel

Worth a listen if your a wwe

After reading a few reviews I opted to go it. I did enjoy it but felt that it was a little tame. It could be that nothing absolutely outrageous happened in his career and that he absolutely agrees with wwe completely and if so I’m glad for him but it felt lacking in the mental stories you hear about the business from other memoirs. Didn’t feel like there was too much politics involved at all contrary to other reviews (from a uk listener).

Made me like the man behind the mask even more.

Glenns autobiography is a standout. This is one wrestlers account that is not just full of inspiration but hope.

It is short, yet sweet. Brief, yet informative. He highlights the best points of his wrestling career along with his personal life, both with his family and behind the wrestling curtain. If you’re expecting a full blown in-depth account of all his wrestling career you may be left in the cold as Glenn gets through most stories in bullet point form.

Cannot recommend this enough. By the end you’ll be wondering if there could be a big red machine in the oval office.

Great insight behind the mask

I loved this book.
I am a big fan of pro wrestling but an even bigger Kane fan and have been waiting 20 plus years for a book on his life. It's great to hear more about Glenn and the stories he's had with all the interesting characters thrown in.
I thought Glenn's naration was top notch. Sincere at times and very funny at others.
Even if you don't like wrestling, Glenn gives enough insight for you to understand the stories he tells.
Highly recommended!! Thank you Kane!!! Thank you Mr Jacobs!!!

Mayor Kane

Simultaneously sharing stories and adventures from his WWE career Glen Jacobs also manages to inform readers / listeners about American politics without being preachy or boring.

A decent listen for WWE fans and US citizens

I did enjoy this title, the WWE aspect was entertaining although felt a little blocky at times.

As an Australian the political side was hard to relate to and I found myself skipping through parts.

But a decent listen all the same, a huge thanks to the big red machine for years of entertainment.
