Almost 50 years after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, his murder continues to haunt the American psyche and stands as a turning point in our nation’s history. The Warren Commission rushed out its report in 1964, but questions continue to linger: Was there a conspiracy? Was there a coup at the highest levels of government? Horrified by the specter of nuclear annihilation, Kennedy gradually turned away from his long-held Cold Warrior beliefs and toward a policy of lasting peace. But to the military and intelligence agencies in the United States, who were committed to winning the Cold War at any cost, Kennedy's change of heart was a direct threat to their power and influence.

And why did significant documents from that file mysteriously disappear? Oswald and the CIA answers these questions, not with theories, but with information from the primary sources themselves.

For decades, government pundits have dismissed these "coincidental" deaths, even regarding them as "myths" as "urban legends." Like most people, Richard and David were initially unsure about what to make of these 'coincidences'. After all, events don't "consult the odds" prior to happening; they simply happen. Then someone comes along later and figures out what the odds of it happening were. Some of the deaths seemed purely coincidental; heart attacks, hunting accidents.

A Lie Too Big to Fail asserts the idea that a government can never investigate itself in a crime of this magnitude. Was the convicted Sirhan Sirhan a willing participant? Or was he a mind-controlled assassin? It has fallen to independent researchers like Pease to lay out the evidence in a clear and concise manner, allowing listeners to form their theories about this event. Pease places the history of this event in the context of the era and provides shocking overlaps between other high-profile murders and attempted murders of the time.

Over two grim nights in Los Angeles, the young followers of Charles Manson murdered seven people, including the actress Sharon Tate, then eight months pregnant. With no mercy and seemingly no motive, the Manson Family followed their leader's every order. Twenty years ago, when journalist Tom O'Neill was reporting a magazine piece about the murders, he worried there was nothing new to say. Then he unearthed shocking evidence of a cover-up behind the "official" story, including police carelessness, legal misconduct, and potential surveillance by intelligence agents.

The very strange but nevertheless true story of the dark underbelly of a 1960s hippie utopia. Laurel Canyon in the 1960s and early 1970s was a magical place where a dizzying array of musical artists congregated to create much of the music that provided the soundtrack to those turbulent times. But there was a dark side to that scene as well. Many didn't make it out alive, and many of those deaths remain shrouded in mystery to this day.

Publisher's Summary
Judyth Vary was once a promising science student who dreamed of finding a cure for cancer; this exposé is her account of how she strayed from a path of mainstream scholarship at the University of Florida to a life of espionage in New Orleans with Lee Harvey Oswald. In her narrative she offers extensive documentation on how she came to be a cancer expert at such a young age, the personalities who urged her to relocate to New Orleans, and what led to her involvement in the development of a biological weapon that Oswald was to smuggle into Cuba to eliminate Fidel Castro. Details on what she knew of Kennedy's impending assassination, her conversations with Oswald as late as two days before the killing, and her belief that Oswald was a deep-cover intelligence agent who was framed for an assassination he was actually trying to prevent, are also revealed.

Me and Lee solves and explains JFK Assassination
Where does Me & Lee rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Top of the list, very best audio book I've ever listened to.
What other book might you compare Me & Lee to and why?
Mary's Monkey. Both talk about the contaminated mokey virus in the polio vaccine and how all of us Americans who got the vaccine were exposed to cancer cells.
Have you listened to any of Kathleen Godwin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, but she is very good.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Judyth Vary Baker explains all of Lee's last days of life and knowing why he left his wedding ring on the dresser was very moving.
Any additional comments?
If you want to find out what Lee Harvey Oswald was REALLY like, who was involved in the JFK shooting and why, how we were trying to kill Castro, why we don't cure cancer even though the cure was discovered in the 70's, what was going on in New Orleans in the summer of 1963 and how and why a talented 19 yr. old was forever banned from cancer research and forced into exile, listen to this audio book.

Layers off the Onion of Truth
Where does Me & Lee rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It ranks as among the most informative; I don't like to compare on a linear scale; makes no sense.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Me & Lee?
When the depth of the involvement of Oswald with David Ferrie became apparent it made it very clear how little we were told in the way of truth by the Warren Commisison.
What does Kathleen Godwin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She read with clarity and empathy- - it sounded like the real Judyth Vary Baker was speaking to the microphone.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Breaking the slag off the truth.
Any additional comments?
This book is a must read, along with "Dr. Mary's Monkey" if one wants to truly understand the breadth and depth of the cover-up of the assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy.

Makes sense to me.
We see so much in our world today. This isn't even a far stretch after living any amount of life beyond actual maturity. Especially if you do any research at all on what you are interested in. If you think for yourself and you observe realities will fall into place. What doesn't fit leaves. I've seen the JFK assassination through All the cover ups revealed to this election of 2016. Clearly our government is based on money, power and control.

Any additional comments?
This is a wonderfully written and executed audio book. A must for history buffs as well as JFK assassination investigators; plus, you'll get a pretty darn good romance novel as well! I like the fact that the story had to be adapted from Judyth's diary, because there are actual dates to keep the reader grounded. Some books gallop forward and then add something from the beginning as a sort of afterthought. Not this one! "Me & Lee" is a book that will tempt you to listen to in one sitting. Hey, go for it - you won't regret it.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Who was your favorite character and why?
There are no characters... This is a true story.
What three words best describe Kathleen Godwin’s performance?
I'm not a fan.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes.
Any additional comments?
Judyth Vary Baker is one of the bravest, most intelligent, well spoken, truthful human beings on this planet. I recommend this book to everyone who wants to know what was REALLY going on in this country in the early 1960s...

The Truth About JFK Assassination Finally Revealed
If you could sum up Me & Lee in three words, what would they be?
Finally, the Truth!
What did you like best about this story?
Judyth Vary Baker reveals the truth about the assassination and that Lee Harvey Oswald not only didn't kill JFK, but that he actually gave his life trying to save him. And it's an amazing love story!!
Have you listened to any of Kathleen Godwin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not. But she did a great job with this one!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
For me, the most surprising and moving part of the book was how Judyth helps us understand the real Lee Harvey Oswald was far different than the vile portrait the government would have us believe.
Any additional comments?
If you're interested in the truth about JFK's assassination, "Me and Lee" is a must!

Ridiculous.Zero documentation, evidence, testimony
This [story] may have taken place. But 99% of this book is fiction. The author is not recalling conversations (verbatim)with dozens of ppl after 40+ yrs. That's impossible unless she's an audible savant, which she never claims to be. That's all this book is - fictionalized dialogue. She does not provide any facts, documents or other persons who can support her claims. Which is understandable for a spy to be covert. But there are too many risks and actions that Oswald does in her story that a trained spy would most likely not do-unless he was playing her, which seems more likely than a love affair of ridiculous proportions. The vaccine/monkey experiments did take place, & there is enough evidence to prove this within the greater margin of reality. The love affair on the the other hand is like reading a horrible harlequin romance. Ridiculous and absurd. Like, for example, the mob & CIA can't figure out how to smuggle illegal contraband thru customs, but thank goodness Judith(!) who comes up with the plan to hide the materials in furniture..... c'mon folks- the mob & CIA, in 1962 has no clue how to smuggle items thru customs?? And the narrator. Oh god, what to say? She talks like a baby talking TO babies! And it gets worse as it goes on. Brain cringing, irritating and I nearly returned the book a third of the way thru, but stuck with it, hoping to learn more about Lee's movements and the polio vaccine experiments. And to these, no I did not learn anything bc I cannot take Judith's claims as credible or reliable. I smell a fame & fortune seeker, who's doing a huge disservice to the public by publishing this as nonfiction. Society is so very, very sick :(

This is a good resource that should be heard by all JFK assassination researches and enthusiasts. I recommend you seek out Dr. Mary's Monkey, as they go hand-in-hand.

Tedious and contrived
I was excited to read Me and Lee after listening to Dr Mary’s Monkey, but I could barely finish this book. The author seems to have delusions of grandeur and drones on about herself too much to be interesting. I was willing to look past her inflated self importance, but it became clear this story is greatly exaggerated, if not completely made up. This account doesn’t pass the smell test.

Used and abused
This poor lady, so used by her narcissist husband and the CIA, who's to say that her 'love affair' with Lee wasn't just part of the 'game'? He admits to being her CIA handler. She was so young and inexperienced. Wanting her to be and stay safe and be happy. Well written. Well narrated. The narrator's voice sounds like Judy. I'm so happy to have heard her story.
