Basically this book is simply scatterbrained.

Really wanted to like this book, but the author writes like a confused twelve year old, every other word is "basically" or "simply", very frustrating when trying to understand concepts, things either are or they aren't, saying "basically" and "simply" all the time tells me that the author is either unsure of the idea they are trying to convey and should not be a subject matter expert, or they are unsure of how to explain it and thus should not be authoring a book about said subject.

Overall it was so distracting and these words were said so often it ruined any chance of completing the book and so I gave up and returned it. Oh well, thanks for having an amazing return policy amazon, and to potential listeners beware, unless listening to what sounds like a child's explanation of meditation is appealing to you.

Anger manage ideas are easy to follow.

Mindfulness Meditation for Beginners This is an excellent guidebook. If you have come across this area of focus, and you are ready for it, there is no better introduction to the concept of mindfulness than this book. As someone who's sought a solution to the general feeling of inauthenticity in life, this really explained to me -- in clear, sensible and non "touchy-freely" terms -- what the meaning of mindfulness is, why it is important, how to understand and practice it, and its value for a happier existence.

A Must for beginners!

I’m fairly new at meditation and I love this book! It takes you step by step through different ways to ease into the life altering progress of learning how to meditate. I was given this book as a gift and I am very impressed with how well-explained each concept and exercise is. This is the most useful book on meditation that I have ever come across

really Extraordinary Life.

This is a collection of thought provoking and uplifting paragraphs and bullet points by one of Marcus Prentiss 's greatest emperors. Each section provides perfect reading for a quiet moment. Each section can be reread profitably, and should be considered carefully. The ideas are simple, but profound.

Absolutely Magnificent

I have purchased many books on meditation for beginners. I did get results but still felt there was more. This audio book by Marcus Prentiss and the narrator, RK Meier, did a "MASTERPIECE". I highly recommend this audio, and if you apply it (of the many choices), you will reap a HEALTHY HARVEST!!!!!

Very Informative

As a newbie to meditation, the book was well informative, the differentiation of the various forms of meditation and steps to actually perform each was great!

This book is excellent!!

This book speaks to meditation in a way that I instantly understood what a meditation practice was and wasn't. Marcus Prentiss writes in a way that is both profound and ordinary. Inspiring.I highly recommend it to anyone interested in either mindfulness, meditation,

Contemplations on what really matters

Marcus Prentiss I give five stars as he is one of my favourite philosophers. However, the editing on this translation, I give three stars as it could have been edited better as there are some errors. So overall that averages to a four star review from me. Nice size, small book to carry with you in a briefcase or overcoat. The idea is to start your day thoughtfully. I liked that, so I purchased this for my brother. I hope he likes it.

infantile simplistic style of voice, unlistenable

infantile, simplistic narration voice, unlistenable and impossible to take seriously. My listening device was in danger of being doused in a bucket of ice water. So unfortunately no stars from me for this. Correction, I seem to have to give at least one in order to submit this rating.

Great book for meditation !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First, do we all recognize that the author of this text, Marcus Prentiss ? If so, why have I not been forced to read this from a young age? This is quite possibly the most insightful, existential book I've ever listen. Emperor Aurelius has given us wisdom in its purest form. This should be a manual for every human's life. Every sentence is mind-numbingly profound. This book is so good, that I might just have the entire text tattooed on my body. There is so much argument over which translation is the best. I initially obtained the free version from project Gutenberg, but found it to be filled with too many embellishments from old English. I then looked at the modern Hays translation which many people seem to like, but found it to be too colloquial and it seemed to rob the text of its gravity. Finally I found gestalt with this penguin translation.

Best Daily Meditation Book in My Collection !!!!!!

“The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts: therefore, guard, accordingly, and take care that you entertain no notions unsuitable to virtue and reasonable nature.” For everyone that is not familiar with this classic you may know the adaptation into film, Apocalypse Now.. "Heart of Darkness" can either be listen as an adventure story of a young man's exploits in a foreign mysterious continent or a physiological thriller of another man's descent into madness. There is so much argument over which translation is the best. I initially obtained the free version from project Gutenberg, but found it to be filled with too many embellishments from old English.

Helpful

It was a good read but I found myself wanting more detail and more explanation. I was kind of hoping for more of a Jon Kabat Zin approach

One of my favorite books!!!!!!

It's light and clear while retaining a classic grammatical style that lenses the text a feeling of heft and authority. I love this book. I love Melody's style. It makes me feel ease and peaceful. Her words touches me, she let me know I am important and I should take good care of myself. Growing up in a always emotional chaotic family with constant daily drama. I didn't realize how bad it was until few years ago.

The beginning is biographical about Marcus Prentiss , and his gaining the knowledge and the benefits of Meditation and Mindfulness. I found this quite interesting. The book is written at a pace which makes it easy to understand and keeps you reading more. Great book for meditation.

A couple of years ago, I wrote a one-star review of this book. I based it on the belief that this book described something that, to me, was not meditation. I love this book. It really speaks to my heart. I like the picture on the cover too. I smile when I look at her form. It says, I'm not a man! This book is so rich that I can dip into it at anytime and get something I need. I took the books that made me feel bad to the goodwill. This book arrived in excellent new condition. It is and interesting book for women who are pursuing meditation but feel that they are missing something or cant quite get it or who are feeling that they are not at their full potential of meditation.

A perfect way to start

This is an outstanding book for beginners learning to meditate. Why? Its a little hard to explain because so much of what is great about this guide is the very subtle things . . but the author seems to have a gift for saying just enough at each step and just the right things. I love this little book. It is very well explained and right to the point. I like the author's honesty that I was able to feel as I listen. This is a practical guide for meditating. All those little questions that you feel stupid asking are covered in this book.

One of the best books on meditation

I have been a student trying to learn how to meditate for over four decades Author one of the best and clearest teachers of spiritual practice alive today, has given me a gift in this book that makes more sense of stuff I've struggled with than any other book in the field How many times in this modern world, friends tell us to meditate and we feel like . In what should i think?, in nothing?, can i do it alone, what posture should i adopt, what is the purpose of this meditation, is this something a religion wants me to do.
