Story
In one bloody night, three of Washington’s most powerful politicians are executed with surgical precision. Their assassins then deliver a shocking ultimatum to the American government: set aside partisan politics and restore power to the people. No one, they warn, is out of their reach—not even the president. A joint FBI-CIA task force reveals the killers are elite military commandos, but no one knows exactly who they are or when they will strike next.

Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Publisher's Summary
It's just seven days before Memorial Day, and a spike in CIA intelligence has pointed to a major terrorist attack on the United States. Now it's up to counterterrorism operative Mitch Rapp to pull out all the stops.
Rapp immediately leaves for Afghanistan, where he leads a special forces unit on a daring commando raid across the border into a remote Pakistani village. Their target: an al-Qaeda stronghold. Rapp and his team soon discover plans for a catastrophic nuclear attack on Washington, DC. Information is quickly relayed back to CIA headquarters, and a nuclear emergency support team scrambles to the scene. In a few hours, the freighters have been located and disarmed and the danger has been averted. Or has it?
Mitch Rapp can't shake the feeling that the operation seemed just a bit too easy. Rapp follows his instincts on a quest to unearth the whole truth. What he finds is truly terrifying, and with Memorial Day closing fast, Rapp must find a way to prevent a disaster of unimaginable proportions.

Ditto on the High Fives!
One of Vince Flynn's best novels, read by one of my most favorite Audible narrators, George Guidall!
Worth every penny, worth every minute. I now have another favorite in my Audible library. Even though I've read all of Vince Flynn's books in hardback, I have every intention of buying Audible's, unabridged Consent to Kill and Act of Treason - both of which are also narrated by George Guidall! And yes! If Audible ever offers American Assassin, narrated by Guidall, I'll buy it immediately.
Highly recommended!

Flynn's best Mitch Rapp Book
This has been my favorite Rapp book to date. Mitch Rapp kicks a-- from beginning to end. When he is not taking out the bad guys, he is putting the spineless politicians in their place. I love Mitch Rapp and if Flynn ever takes him out, I am done. These books give me the escape I need from the political divide that exist in our country today. Hats off to Mr Guidall as he does a great job with the narration.

This is another excellent and well written book by Vince Flynn. The pace is blistering. I could not stop listening until the book was done. I just slipped into the zone and enjoyed every moment. Great story line and I am afraid all too real. Highly recommended if you like the, Terrorists are coming to get us plots. This book does not disappoint. George Guidall is always excellent.

Excellent Book
I have avoided this book in the past because the only version available on Audible was the abridged version. Abridged version are only for those who have an attention span of a third grader. I will never understand how you can take a great 14 or 15 hour book and hack it to less than half it's original length. Murder mysteries are great because of their detail. I love the Mitch Rapp books and this one is very good also. I loved it. George Guidall "is" Mitch Rapp. He's read all of them to us. This is a scary book and has an element of "could happen" which makes it even better. I have loved every Mitch Rapp book that Vince Flynn turns out. Just wish he would stop doing the abridged stuff. Abridged books are worthless. I like the detail. That's what makes a book exceptional for me. I am glad I waited until Flynn's publisher finally got a clue and put the unabridged version on Audible. I will definitely read the whole series again sometime. There is another one out there that is also only in the abridged form (I forget the name of it). I will NOT buy that book until we get the whole thing on Audible.
I would definitely recommend this book along with all of his other in the unabridged version.

Terror On The Potomac
I am listening to the Mitch Rapp series in order. I started with American Assassin as a starter even though it was actually written later on. Hands down "Memorial Day" is the best entry so far. Rapp is truly in his element hunting down terrorists while despising the Washington bureaucracy that hinders him at every turn. With a potential Nuclear bomb being blown up in DC taking out many our nation's leaders on the horizon, Mitch does everything within his power to chase down the terrorists hell bent on ignoring the political machine that attempts to slow him down.
This is an excellent listen with my only issue being George Guidall as the narrator. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Guidall when he reads Longmire, but for my taste, he just does not have the right voice for Mitch Rapp. The pace of the story was excellent and overall was a terrific listen from start to finish.
I do have to throw in an editorial comment. I finally saw the "American Assassin" movie and found what the writers did to the Rapp story ridiculous. It was a very weak interpretation of a great fictional character. What I figured out while reading Memorial Day is there is no way our left leaning entertainment industry is going to present us with the true Mitch Rapp with his disdain for politics in general and the left's version of right and wrong in particular. Being a conservative thinker myself, I find the narrative from Vince Flynn through the voice Mitch Rapp right on the mark. It is just sad we will never see an accurate portrayal of this fictional character on the big screen.

It's about time!!
I have refused to listen to any of the abridged books by Vince Flynn. I kept hoping they would come back and do unabridged versions of the older books and here we are! As always, I enjoyed the book immensely and Vince Flynn is becoming one of my favorite writers. He's not Hemingway or Faulkner, but his stuff is great entertainment and the George Guidall (once again) brings it to life. The only complaint I can offer is that I wish they did the unabridged versions from the beginning of the series forward not in reverse. I would much rather make my way through the series in the order intended. But, I'll take what I can get--as long as it's unabridged.
