Shetty grew up in a family where you could become one of three things - a doctor, a lawyer, or a failure. His family was convinced he had chosen option three: Instead of attending his college graduation ceremony, he headed to India to become a monk, to meditate every day for four to eight hours, and devote his life to helping others. After three years, one of his teachers told him that he would have more impact on the world if he left the monk’s path to share his experience and wisdom with others.

Depression is something we all dealt with either personally or have witnessed its impact on others around us. It affects our intimate relationships, drastically impacts our sex life, and affects our children, spouses, and family. If not dealt with in a healthy way, it takes over our lives. Our problems become our only focus. After some time, it only leads you further into the abyss and lessens the likelihood you’ll ever regain control of your thoughts. Even if you’ve tried everything you can think of with no success, you can finally gain control of your thoughts.

Such a beautiful audiobook
Such a beautiful audiobook, with plenty of supporting information to back up the theories and studies, allowing us to put our faith in the outcomes. Every chapter is useful and realistic, making it much easier to try and wasting less time. I've started putting some of the hypotheses to the test, and so far they've worked out very well.

I just completed this book and it was fantastic
I just completed this book and it was fantastic. It's an excellent pick if you want to learn about mental toughness without having to wade through a lot of extra stories. I love reading books with such elements from time to time, but I frequently wish the book just covered the most important aspects of the subject and how to apply them to my life. That is something I believe this book did exceptionally well. I'll be reading more from this author in the future. Damon, thank you for taking the time to write this. I feel that everyone who takes the time to study it and use the ideas will benefit from it.

Life-saver
I consider myself lucky to have received an advance copy of this new book. During these strange times, most of us must confront the topic of mindset. Over the years, I've liked reading about living during a pandemic in a variety of medical thrillers. Nonetheless, here we are in 2021, living that nightmare. Being forced to self-quarantine for your own protection and the safety of people around you can take a toll on your mental health.

This was a great listen
This was a great listen! This book was fantastic, especially during the pandemic. It made me think a lot about our inner critics and how we are harsher on ourselves than on others. The author walks you step by step through the process of developing mental toughness. The distinction between mental toughness and mental resilience is enlightening. This is a book I would recommend to anyone who wants to improve their mental strength. It comes highly recommended.

Exactly what it claims
This is an excellent book. At the outset of the epidemic, I began to seriously consider my life and how I approached it. My mental habits and thoughts were *bad* (to put it mildly). This isn't a science book about brain plasticity or cognitive bias (but there is enough science to show that it isn't nonsense). This is exactly what it claims it is: a manual with step-by-step procedures for replacing weak mental habits with more powerful and productive ones.
