Publisher's Summary

Mere Christianity has sold millions of copies worldwide in over half a century. It is one of the most popular introductions to the Christian faith ever written. This classic brings together C. S. Lewis' legendary broadcast talks from the war years in which he set out to simply "explain and defend the belief that has been common to nearly all Christians at all times". By rejecting the many boundaries that has been dividing Christianity’s many denominations for centuries, Lewis provides an unparalleled opportunity for both believers and unbelievers alike to hear a powerful, rational case for the Christian faith. This book is a collection of sparkling brilliance that is strikingly fresh for the modern listener and at the same time confirms C. S. Lewis’ reputation as one of the foremost writers and thinkers of all time.

“If wit and wisdom, style and scholarship are requisites to passage through the pearly gates, Mr. Lewis will be among the angels.” (The New Yorker)

“Lewis is the ideal persuader for the half-convinced, for the good man who would like to be a Christian but finds his intellect getting in the way.” (New York Times Book Review)

“It is not surprising that Lewis’ time-proven views are still flourishing while most other mid-20th-century works are nearly neglected.” (Wall Street Journal)

“C. S. Lewis understood, like few in the past century, just how deeply faith is both imaginative and rational.” (Christianity Today)

Now I Understand

I have read MC 3 times without understanding or grasping the argument. Listening was a different experience. CS Lewis makes a compelling case for Christianity and does so in a logical manner. If you only get to listen to one of Lewis’s books make it this one.

Best book I've ever read!

Best book I've ever read..........maybe because it was so timely. Having had a series of tragic events in my life and while struggling consistently with various church denominations CS Lewis put it all into narrative that made it all make perfect sense. Excellent!! I've listened to it on Audible twice and will be going for a third. Wonderful book!

Wake up and smell the truth.

It's amazing how the truth can knock you right on your butt then reach out it's hand to pick you back up.

Why isn’t this book the first thing you get handed when you walk into church????

Maybe it’s because I appreciate deep thought provocation. But, I honestly feel anyone that wants to understand what the title says... will find a satisfying answer. Moreover, they will be inspired to try and learn more. Once you feel your hearts disposition shift, via the mere curiosity of your mind... you won’t stop listening until it’s done. Then... you’ll want to listen to it all over again. And I don’t usually listen to or watch anything a second time. Also the elegance of the reader here, really adds that quirky, engaging edge to it.

Christianity in a nutshell

This book really explains what Christianity is. It brings it to life. In the end it is about surrender & letting Christ in to work HIS miracle within each one of us. A must read for any lost soul (I include myself in that statement). Thank you CS Lewis or should I say thank you Christ through CS Lewis.
