Publisher's Summary

Centuries before the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, in the era of the glorious High Republic, the Jedi are the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy!

After a series of staggering losses, the Republic seems to finally have the villainous Nihil marauders on the run, and it looks like there's light at the end of the tunnel. Until word comes of a suspected Nihil attack on the industrial cosmopolitan world of Corellia, right in the Galactic Core. Sent to investigate are Jedi Masters Cohmac Vitus and Kantam Sy, along with Padawans Reath Silas and Ram Jomaram, all fighting their own private battles after months of unrelenting danger.

On Corellia, Reath and Ram encounter a brazen young security specialist named Crash, whose friend was one of the victims of the Nihil attack, and they team up with her to infiltrate Corellia's elite while the Masters pursue more diplomatic avenues. But going undercover with Crash is more dangerous than anyone expected, even as Ram pulls in his friend Zeen to help with an elaborate ruse involving a galactic pop star. But what they uncover on Corellia turns out to be just one part of a greater plan, one that could lead the Jedi to their most stunning defeat yet....

I'm spoiled by Marc Thompson

Halfway through the book I gave up because the characters were so indistinct I couldn't remember their names. I couldn't tell if the story was good because it all just sounded like random words with no emotion.

Do the narrators not listen to previous books?

Personally nothing rips me from the story as quick as hearing a common name constantly mispronounced based on how it’s been established in a handful of previous medias. This seems like a super easy thing to get a handle on, not sure why it’s been an issue in a few stories in the High Republic era

Last act ok

After the comics seem to be going in a good direction I was expecting this to take place a bit after the last book not along side when it was just with a group of kids and for the first 3/4th of the book it felt more like a high school love story but very "woke" and take that as you will. But then in the end some pretty important things happen those who miss this one won't find out for months. And if it's the same Jedi order why do they not say "for light and life" or " we are all the Republic" by the time episode 1 came??? lol

This series keeps getting better and better.

Another excellent book in this series. Ro's people are after a major planet now, out of their minds. Narration and writing are both excellent, though both are ones I'm not familiar with.

Worst book of High Republic

The soundtrack was great. The story was mediocre at best. The narrator was bad.

First time disappointed with a Star Wars novel.

This was the first time I could truly say I have been disappointed with a Star Wars novel.

Slow and uninteresting story, with a poorly done low budget narration make me regret this purchase.

Definitely not what I was looking for.

I love the star wars universe and I love to bury myself in so that I can escape the wars and politics of today. I have no guile towards anyone or thier decisions but having the LGBT aspect involved in these books has ruined the story for me. It has become the same something I was trying to escape.

Narrated by the Animmaniacs

The story rambles on and on about nothing that really has anything to do with the overall story. I really don’t care about some protection service thing. But what gets me the most is the narrator, he sounds like the guy that voiced the Animaniacs. I kept waiting for them to say, “there’s baloney in our sacks”! I need to start listening to the previews a little better.

A great chapter

I thought the new characters were great like Crash and it was fun hearing about some of the other Jedi that we haven't heard too much about.
