Publisher's Summary

Midnight. Some call it the witching hour. Others call it the devil’s hour. Here in the graveyard, midnight is a very special time. It is a time when ghostly spirits are at their strongest, when the veil between our world and theirs is at its thinnest. Legend has it, that while most of the world is asleep, the lack of prayers allow the spirits to communicate under the cover of darkness, among the headstones, their whispers rustling in the leaves of the old oak trees. But if you’re here in the graveyard, you can tell yourself it’s just the wind, that the moonlight is playing tricks on your eyes, that it’s only the swirling mist you see. But when you hear the graveyard gate clang shut, the dead have something to say. Here are their stories …

Very good selection

This book has a very good selection of different stories all read very well. A couple of the stories were just ok. But some I didn't want to end, and I am looking forward to reading more from those authors.

Delighted by the creativity!

The horror genre has slipped into gore and pseudo science it seems. Steven King was able to take us to a regular place and terrify the senses. He used what we are accustomed to believe to show monsters are indeed under the bed and thank you, you don’t even need to see to know that.
Not since Mr King, with his Alfred Hitchcock approach, have stories such as in this book offered refreshing, original, and the terminal to normality. Lately the horror genres has indeed been swinging back to the Masters of Horror and a new writer maturity evident. I am very excited with these authors. Good job!

Did not enjoy

I love short stories and I love horror. What could go wrong? A lot apparently. The stories were predictable or awkward. The narration was mediocre- the voices used for women and children almost made things comedic if they weren’t so annoying. I did not finish the book and wish I could get my credit back.

Not as scary as I'd have liked.

Just a little corney. I was looking for something to really give me chills.

Amazing horror anthology!!!

From start to end amazing, All stories were good, specially the ghost ones ( I love ghost stories)
The narrator was good ( I do listen at 1.3x speed) would have been nice to have multiple ones since each story is different, but Gary Bennett did a good job nonetheless.
Absolutely recommend this one.

Top notch horror

This a long but fantastic collection of horror short stories. The narration is very good, except for one story where his London accent goes very badly wrong. Otherwise, well told.

it's done 😭

I so loved this collection of stories, brilliantly written, suspenseful, had me wondering when I usually suss the end, I'm gutted it's finished, I truly am, I have to say it's been at least 20 years since ive felt like that about a book, get it , if you're into small stories you'll love it.

A mix of fearful, futuristic & fascinating stories!

This book has a great selection of varied horror/ghost stories from the past, present and even the possibility of the future.
The Narrator has the ability to make the stories believable using the different tones of his voice, which submerges the listener into the many tales of ethereal murders, spectral suicidal intentions and emotional events that unfold in each of these ghostly stories.
If you’re a fan of grisly graveside ghouls and twisted tales of doom, then this audiobook is definitely for you.

Uninteresting, not scary..avoid

A largely boring and utterly not scary collection of stories.
I rarely write a review, so it should tell you something that I am here now….
Spoiler: one story is about a man who murders his cuckolder by throwing him in a crocodile
Infested swamp, only for the man’s arm to attack him ‘Adam’s family’ style. Good grief.
