Publisher's Summary

Are you plagued by compulsive thinking? Do you have a voice inside your head that tends to obsess, complain, compare, and criticize yourself and others? Do you feel like a hostage to your mind’s whims?

If you're ready to start harnessing the present and living in the now, this is the ideal book to introduce you to the basics of mindfulness meditation. Keep reading!

The mind loves to hold onto the illusion that it has control over situations and to immerse itself in thought. In reality, your thoughts are just a tiny piece of who you are. You are actually the awareness that witnesses those thoughts. As soon as you begin to observe the patterns of your thoughts and refrain from identifying with or judging them, you can enter a state of joy and peace.

Mindfulness will allow you to immerse yourself in the experiences happening right now. Of course, having an idea of what your future will be like, and learning from your past is important. Yet, pausing to shift your mind to the present gives you power to continue moving forward effectively.

In Mindfulness for Beginners: Declutter Your Mind and Overcome Anxiety, Anger, Depression, and Borderline Personality Disorder Becoming Aware of the Present Moment by Practicing Mindfulness Meditations, Elizabeth Broks outlines what mindfulness is and how it can help you experience a state of flow, increased peace of mind, and greater happiness. This practical guidebook includes:

  • Four key questions to ask yourself for present moment awareness
  • Top six myths about mindfulness
  • Eleven mindfulness techniques that can be done anywhere
  • Mindfulness exercises for children, teens, young adults, and the whole family to practice together
  • Several amazing guided meditations to start your mindfulness meditation journey
  • Common obstacles to mindfulness and how to overcome them
  • Tips on managing anxiety and anger through mindfulness
  • And much more!

Scientific researchers have found that mindfulness has positive effects on the brain, memory, creativity, and attentiveness. Even if you have a tendency to think over thoughts again and again, relive the past, and obsess over the unknown future, you can begin on the path of mindfulness today.

Mindfulness is free, and it’s your birthright as a human being. The meditation practices clearly presented in this book can help you live a more mindful, happy, and peaceful life.

Take a deep breath, and allow yourself to fully arrive right here and right now. Get started in this present moment with one simple click of the "buy" button!

Slow, tedious, and still needs editing.

The narration of this book is slow and tedious with an odd delivery. I just started the book and the narrator is restarting lines over again that have been flubbed. It sounds like first run through that still needs to be edited. I tried to hang in there, but I just couldn't do it. Very poor quality editing and delivery. Buyer beware!

Poorly recorded and waffly

I thought it was a text to speech recording until the constant mistakes which nobody has bothered to edit out. Regardless, not very engaging.

Unfinished editing

This audio book has not been properly edited. Stopping and re-starting sentences within the first 20 mins constantly. Very jarring for a book on meditation...

Very surprised with ratings based on the poor editing.

Is it read by a robot?

Horrible robot-like narration ruined the audiobook for me. I found the monotonous and flat voice of the narrator so distracting I kept switching off - it really sounded like a robot’s voice! I’ll read it on Kindle instead.

This is a fantastic little book

This is a fantastic little book on mindfulness and self reflection. I can imagine listening it over and over again. Good message even for those who don't want to learn how to meditate. It's really a universal rumination on self-awareness.

Must listen!!

I wasn't able to naturally convert reading and enjoying this book into a mindfulness practice, but I think that's more about me than about the book.

focus my wandering mind.

It is probably the best introduction to meditating with mindfulness. Elizabeth Broks is an excellent teacher and he should be since he is the creator of MBSR program at Boston University Medicine School. The Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program has expanded widely worldwide. Elizabeth Broks is a master of the processes involved in meditation. The book was written in a language understandable by the common listener and yet, it's inspirational. I have read it several times and go back to it every once in while. This book and Elizabeth Broks's videos that you can watch in the web convinced me to start meditating with mindfulness every day, for several months now. I can breath and go back to mindfulness every time I need to focus my wandering mind.

very helpful book

This is a very helpful book if you're struggling through a hard time. Each section is short and to the point, so it's not a huge commitment of time. It definitely helped me to ground myself in the midst of the chaos I was going through.
