Publisher's Summary

Riley Madigan escapes to the sleepy mountain town of Miracle Creek after her relationship with an A-list actor ends badly. At least for a time, she hopes her new job as a high school art teacher will bring her the peace and quiet she is looking for. The last thing on her mind is love.

Mark Rivers was a firefighter until he got trapped in a wildfire and suffered third-degree burns on his face and body. After a year of recovering, Mark is trying to piece his life back together but struggles both emotionally and psychologically. He's been a recluse until he forces himself to attend his niece's school play and sees Riley, the school's art teacher. Immediately, Mark feels a connection to her. Maybe it's the kind way she greets his niece or the way the art she created for the school play is reminiscent of his late mom's artwork. Either way, Mark feels driven to get to know her, but first he'll need to build up the courage to talk to her.

When Mark asks Riley to work on a special nativity, he finds himself falling for her, particularly because Riley doesn't seem bothered by his scars. Is her affection for him real or is she simply overcompensating, pretending he's not different. One thing's for certain, in a small town that views Mark as a fragile hero, it's hard to pursue a relationship without everyone in his business. And although Riley has sincere feelings for Mark, is she really ready to risk her heart?

Broken hearts and lives are mended as the town of Miracle Creek comes together to celebrate a Christmas to remember.

Gahhh this hits you in the feels..

Although Riley can be super frustrating I’m not gonna lie Marc is my new book boyfriend for life. This story really did touch a special part of my heart and though it’s long the story was worth every minute!

Good but wish she wasn’t so blind

I wish she would’ve been more open with him earlier and then the story could continue their love story instead of them not official till the end.

Perfect Clean Holiday Story

I throughly enjoyed this book. It’s a more substantial Hallmark sort of feel. No sex, violence, or anything “questionable”, but there plenty of chemistry between the two main characters.

Definitely is a slow burn

The only reason I gave the story 4 stars is because I wish there was more of them together, like as a couple. I do see why everything happened the way it did, I’m just a hopeless romantic and I love all the cheesy stuff. Other than that, I thought it was such a cute story. I love the “Hallmark Christmas” vibe to it, because I mean, come on, who doesn’t love a good Hallmark Christmas movie. The narrator sounded robotic at times, but I think it worked because it acted as what it is, a third person POV. Oh, and I absolutely LOVE Mark. He was just *chefs kiss*. I caught myself yelling at Riley more than I should’ve, but I’m glad the way it ended with a HEA.

Touching story with good reading performance

Narration did not detract from the story as can sometimes happen. Story was a nice slow build of character growth and maturity. Location imagery was lovely. I enjoyed the book.

Wow, I love this book!!

This is so much more than a Christmas story. The plot could have been set anytime of the year and the actual story would still be remarkable. This love story captures every emotion and hands it to the reader to live vicariously. I laughed... often!! I cried like my heart was being torn out and rejoiced in the hard fought happily ever after.

The writing is flawless. Not too highbrow with words I'm always having to look up but not elementary either. What I think I enjoyed the most was how real every situation the characters went through felt. The dialog between all the characters was terrific and necessary. The banter was so unique but also familiar. As though you were eavesdropping on real conversations.

Although there was only one narrator she did a great job bringing the scenes to life.

This is going down as one of my all time favorites!!!

I love this book

One of my favourite books. It covers such a sensitive and serious topic as fire and severe burns so well.
I love the humour of the author.I laughed out loud in a few places. The playful banter between Mark and his dad and the way the relationship builds with Mark and Riley is fantastic. The hurt and struggles they both overcome is covered so well.
The Narration is brilliant too. Overall I just love it. it is my feel good go to favourite book.

Struggled to get through this

Bit too "mushy" for me, although I did make it to the end. However, as my normal genre is Crime Fiction, if you are into this genre please ignore my slight negativity.
