Welcome to the World, Baby Girl! is the funny, serious, and compelling new novel by Fannie Flagg, author of the beloved Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe (and prize-winning co-writer of the classic movie). Once again, Flagg's humor and respect and affection for her characters shine forth. Many inhabit small-town or suburban America. But this time, her heroine is urban: a brainy, beautiful, and ambitious rising star of 1970s television. Dena Nordstrom, pride of the network, is a woman whose future is full of promise, her present rich with complications, and her past marked by mystery.

Publisher's Summary
Ann B. Ross' most recent addition to the Miss Julia's Marvelous Makeover series was the first to hit the printed New York Times best-seller list, so Miss Julia fans both new and old will be especially keen to get their hands on the next one. The 16th in the series, Miss Julia Lays Down the Law is guaranteed to be the steel magnolia's most exciting adventure yet.
It's November, and Miss Julia is looking forward to some quiet time before the holidays. That is until snobby Connie Clayborn and her rich husband move to town. At first Miss Julia and the other ladies are pleased to be invited over for coffee, but the afternoon turns into a slap in the face when their hostess spouts nonstop criticism about Abbotsville. Why, how dare she? Days later Miss Julia decides to confront Connie woman to woman, but when she arrives Connie is lying on the kitchen floor - lifeless in a pool of blood. Who could have done this? Miss Julia will need to find out fast - particularly because her fingerprints are now all over the crime scene....

Love Miss Julia!
If you find yourself laughing out loud to a book them you know you have a great writer. I am a true fan of Miss Julia books. I've read several and listened to most all of them. Cynthia Darlow does an excellent job with the voices. If she isn't reading it's just blah. Keep them coming Ann Ross!

Not my favorite Miss Julia book
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes, I listened to this audiobook while doing household chores (i.e. preparing meals; folding laundry; while eating breakfast/lunch) so this book made these activities not so boring.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Relief that the story was over.
What about Cynthia Darlow’s performance did you like?
Cynthia Darlow does a good job of portraying the voice of Miss Julia, although at times her performance is a bit too melodramatic and overdone for my taste.
Was Miss Julia Lays Down the Law worth the listening time?
Yes, but only because it entertained me while performing mundane activities.
Any additional comments?
I have listened to every Miss Julia book and of all the books in this series, this one was my least favorite. There was too much repetition throughout this book. I hope the next Miss Julia book will be better.
