Publisher's Summary

When Miss Julia burst on the scene in her fictional debut, Miss Julia Speaks Her Mind, this proper lady of a certain age found her orderly world turned upside down when Hazel Marie Puckett appeared with her nine-year-old son, Little Lloyd, who looked disturbingly similar to Miss Julia's late husband. Now, in Miss Julia Takes Over, with her sharp tongue and iron backbone intact, Miss Julia must tackle another disruption when Hazel Marie doesn't return from a dinner date with a fund-raiser who, in Miss Julia's opinion, wears his shorts too tight. Frantic and unable to persuade the local police that Hazel Marie is in danger, Miss Julia hires J. D. Pickens to investigate, despite her reservations about his taste for beer and women. She and Little Lloyd help search for Hazel Marie, running into adventures ranging from a most indelicate display of fisticuffs to a high-speed car chase on the track of a NASCAR Speedway, all the while standing strong...because if Miss Julia doesn't take care of things, who will?

I Loved the first book!!

The Narrator is horrible!! The first book was so good, really kept me captivated and the voice for the women, men and child were all so wonderfully done. You really ruined this series by changing the narrator.

Great story

I’m writing this for my mom, she’s 97 and can’t see to read. I hooked her up with this book and she loved it. She would not stop listening, she is looking forward to hearing more of Ann B. Ross books!

Loved it!

I really enjoyed this audible book, narrated by Cynthia Darlowe. The first book in the series was worth the credit, but this second book in the series was even better. The non-stop action and narration by Cynthia Darlowe made it one of the best books I've purchased. I'm sorry some of the previous reviewers don't care for this narrator, but I really enjoy listening to anything she reads.

A listening pleasure

Funny and entertaining, this is one of the best purchases I've made in a long while. I enjoyed it so much that I almost finished it in one session. Cynthia Darlow provided the best older southern lady voice I've heard.

VERBOSE!!!

Good mystery but too much unnecessary commentary! Honestly, we could probably shave off an entire hour or more if we remove some of the repetitive internal dialogue.

Hated the narrator

As some others have mentioned, the narrator was awful. I felt that she ruined the book. While the first narrator might have sounded a bit too young, this one sounded too old. But the bigger issue was the way she read the character of Lillian. It was offensive and almost caused me to stop listening to the book. Too bad they changed narrators.

Delightful Stories

I absolutely love these books especially for listening! Light hearted and being from the South enjoy her sayings and Southern attitude. Easy to listen to while working around the house or driving. Cynthia Darlow as the narrator is perfect and anyone else doing this just does not fit. I have listened to 12 of these books and hope they never end!!
