Story
An insidious cabal has decided to change the direction of the United Alliance of Stars (UAS) with a coup d’etat - but not through a military takeover. They have devised a subtler coup: the manipulation of the Committee, the 15-star system that sets policy for the UAS. The UAS Committee enlists their de facto troubleshooter, Anna Paulus, to shut down the cabal, but they insists she leave the NIA and manage UAS Committee Security. For Anna it’s a nightmare scenario, leaving her safe world for a completely new environment dominated by macho men with years of combat experience.

Story
In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue - Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is - she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

Publisher's Summary
When puberty brings on her first shift, Missy goes into the mountains for two years - until finally learning to change back. She can change from fully human in one instant to a mountain lion in the next. Everyone assumes her two-year disappearance was because she'd been kidnapped by a sexual predator that she managed to kill. She keeps her werecat nature a secret. There is no pack, no pride of other werecats, and no alpha. She's a girl with fantastic abilities growing up and learning to do great things in today's world, amongst humans. She only has her instincts to guide her, and those drive her to train herself to extremes. She must control those instincts; dampening the wild predator is often necessary. Her raging hormones and enhanced senses require very strong controls; she explores what happens when those controls are relaxed.

Good book could have less random crimes in it
What made the experience of listening to Missy the Werecat the most enjoyable?
I liked how it was a coming of age story. Though I found the amount of rape and criminal activity to be unlikely. The main character was always stumbling upon some crime or something, then rescuing the hapless victim, it got a bit repetitive after a while. Without the crimes it reads like someone's experience of high school, only with more turning into a mountain lion. I got this book in exchange for a review

Please show me, don't tell me
This felt more like listening to someone describe what happened in a book they read than actually reading a book myself. There was very little dialogue or action and way too much dry "this happened and then this happened." The whole book felt like a preface and I kept waiting for the actual story to start.
I tried to like it. A YA Paranormal story about a werecat with my name seemed super fun and light but it was just not engaging or entertaining. So boring.

Interesting Story
Where does Missy the Werecat rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Very good story and lively blend of action and character development.
What did you like best about this story?
easy pace to listen and not overly developed on any one scene
Have you listened to any of Meghan Kelly’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Only criticism is the voices of many of the males voices lack realism and I wish the narration could include male and females for a proper effect.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I had a few chuckles but the story wasn't one that should make a person laugh or cry

This cat has 9 stars
Book 1 in the series. This is a paranormal werecat story . Heroine is Missy . You first meet Missy when she’s in between a mid teen and a young adult. There are some things that Missy goes through that you can’t believe. Next thing you know Missy is grown up and she knows what she wants . She has speed like a cat . Not only that she has the speed but she can change as fast as a blink of an eye .
Meghan Kelly performance was spot on. Her voice brings the story to life . The way she does the characters is perfect. Her voice is strong , clear and smooth

what....
narration was fine.. but god was this storyline so bad. ok I get it she's a teenager werecat that's cool. that being said the stupidity of almost every adult in this book was astounding. they way these "Gang leaders" we're written made them seem like cowards. Also for some reason any male character who wasn't important in someway was apparently a rapist, a gang member, or a pedophile. again What? also somehow this 15-16 year old girl is outsmart everyone.

Interesting read.
Would you listen to Missy the Werecat again? Why?
Maybe, I enjoy Meghan Kelly's narrations.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Missy, she was quite interesting and Meghan really did a good job conveying her character.
Which character – as performed by Meghan Kelly – was your favorite?
Look at the previous question.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The beast unleashed.

Mystery and Romance..
Any additional comments?
" Missy, the female lead is a mountain lion, and when she hits puberty. she goes into the mountains for two years"
Ok, wow, that is all I can say right now about that..
This was an interesting story with a different slant on Shifters since Missy has no pack and has to learn everything on her own.
Missy is a strong female lead who is determined to face any challenge.
The author has done a good job with writing a well developed female lead and an interesting story line.
Overall, the book was a worthwhile read or audio.
Meghan Kelly did really well with the narration.

Its ,,, Very Special !...
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I probably would to someone who wanted an uncomplicated fun read.
Would you recommend Missy the Werecat to your friends? Why or why not?
I would but for the same reasons I put for the previous question.
Did Meghan Kelly do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?
She did though I dont think she enjoyed what she was actually narrating.
It didnt come across as a book she actually liked.
Do you think Missy the Werecat needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Yeah why not ,,, I dont mind books which dont take themselves too seriously.
Any additional comments?
Ok now the Cons about these books,,
The Author used "very special" "special" and "magical" and other phrases way way too much,,, needs to expand there vocabulary & vocabulary in descriptions used by characters in regards to the main character !
Plays to the sterotypes of Gangsters , Military and Other persons so you expect the gangsters to be like the Goodfellas and the Military to be like A Few Good Men.
The sex scenes are ,,, a bit puerile and really not needed or not as much ,,, there also a how I would imagine an 16 or 17 year old would write them.
I skip passed these as there ,,, just irrelevant to an otherwise good idea storywise.
.
The first couple of sexual descriptions in the first book were,, a bit creepy if im honest too.
I was at one point going to turn off but I thought,,,ive heard worse,, lets see where this is going.
If this is what the author was aiming for in some parts of the book ,, I cant really say without giving some of the parts of the book away ,, then it worked, creeped out and slightly uncomfortable.
I would like the Author to maybe take the writing out of the juvenile stage and onto being written in a grown up adult way.
It wouldnt take that much which would make the continuing Missy storys more compelling.
Pro's
There good and entertaining if you can get passed some of the previous subjects and they have kept me reading / listening.
For someone who has over 500 plus books on there Kindle alone and over 4000 books in my collection ,, I dont suffer poor reads well but enjoyed these for what they were.
Hope this helps.

A brilliant and gritty coming of age story
If you could sum up Missy the Werecat in three words, what would they be?
Great pace
Werecat
Original
What did you like best about this story?
This is not the typical shifter paranormal story, she has no pack, no-one to learn from or relate too. She needs to figure out everything herself. It's not just about being a Werecat but about learning how to be a young woman with unique and special abilities and how to best use those for herself and others.
Which character – as performed by Meghan Kelly – was your favourite?
Missy. She is a very complex character and she is very likeable. Strong but not too much so that it makes her untraceable.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
What would you do if you turned into a Werecat. Where would you go?

This could have been a good novel
I listened to the first part of what could have been a decent novel. I then downloaded second part, around 20% was a repeat of what happened in the first episode. I don’t appreciate being manipulated into buying parts of a book. There are several annoying phrases such as “right” at the end of every other sentence. The sex scenes were uncalled for, uncomfortable & in no way added to the story. I will skip the rest of this light weight attempt to sell bits of what could/should have been a good read.

Absolute love the Missy stories
I love all seven Missy stories. I have re-read / listened to them multiple times. I just hope that P G Allison keeps being able to turn them out, perhaps a little more frequently than of late.

Disappointed
Audio levels all over the shop, and a story that sounds like a bad book report on the actual novel.

Fun story
The story was fun but unfortunately I did not enjoy the narration. The narrator 's voice did not fit with how I imagined the characters and I found it distracting.

Easy read
An interesting take on a shifter who lives more as a human and not in a pack like most shifter stories. Would not recommend the audio, not a good reader and I have listened to many audio books
