A Torture

This book makes me despair of reviews on Audible. How it is positively rated, I can’t imagine. The plot was filled with implausible turns. The writing marked by flowery and often inexplicable phrases (the press “coagulated”). The southern accents of all the lawyers in Philly was puzzling and annoyingly poorly done. There was too much time spent on subjects largely unrelated to the main plot. And the working assumption of the case evident in the entire book was, in the end, totally wrong. And this champion of justice, in the end, doesn’t care that cops are wrongfully accused of murder and the real murderer walks free.

It was quite simply a mess. The most entertaining part was laughing with my husband about the craziness.

Great story! Great ending as well and that's all I will say so as not to spoil it!

Five stars all around! I was nervous after I'd purchased the book then saw the reviews not liking the ending but thankfully I don't agree with them.

I didn't like the ending! I never thought I would get into secular mysteries but yours are really well written.

Narration makes the difference

This was the most bizarre narration I’ve ever heard. Burton used southern accents for every man in the book in spite of the fact that the story takes place in Philadelphia. For some reason she made Judy’s voice a man too. She called Benny’s last name risotta instead of Rosata. Repeatedly. Narration can make a story or ruin it.
