Publisher's Summary

It's Peretti's ultimate monster story. And this time, the monster is real. Miles away from the hectic city, Reed and Rebecca hike into the beautiful Northwestern woods. They're surrounded by gorgeous mountains, waterfalls, and hundreds of acres of unspoiled wilderness. But something - or someone - begins closing in on them. Something no human has ever seen. And it's killing everyone in its path without remorse.

Liked it

I liked the fact that the author was also the narrarator. He's able to add emphasis where someone may not have picked up on the pages.
I have listened to several other narrators and I think Frank Peretti did a fine job. I did find the soundeffects at the begining of each chapter a little distracting.

Fantastic!

A wild adventure! I was never bored and it kept me with my muscles tense in a lot of places. I highly recommend for anyone who is a scifi monster fan.

Good story but a little disappointing

Good story but I was expecting a spiritual allegory. I kept waiting for an analogy to be drawn but it never happened. Interesting and enjoyable story though.

Just OK

What was hard to get past was the narrarator doing the voice of one of the female characters. It almost made it unbearable but I got past it. The story is just so-so and I am surprised because the Piercing the Darkness, etc. books were so good.

Good story but stuttering is really annoying

One of the characters has a stutter for quite a bit of the beginning, and the narrator really exaggerates it, and it was so annoying, I almost stopped listening to the book. Toward the middle she stops talking and is thinking, so the narrator stops doing it.

Incredible.

At the start if found the reading fast. And it ism likely with another author this would be 15 hours. But once I got use to it, the delivery was incredible. Since he's the author he expresses the exact emotion of his intention. What a great book the interweaving story lines were terrific. Just loved the imagery he created. Wow.

Good god STOP

The story seems fine but for the love of god the narration is terrible. Just the most annoying narrator I have ever heard. He sounds like Max Wright from ALF with a lisp. This is without even addressing the shuddering character, add her into the mix and the book is unlistenable. If I'm being honest I cant even say the story is that good because I was only able to make it 2 hours in before I wanted to tear my ears off. If you must read this one I'd suggest buying a physical copy of the book. If you're looking for a good bigfoot story I'd go for Devolution by Max Brooks. Much better written and more engaging and great narration. Skip this one unless you have a high tolerance for annoying dialogue and poor story development.

Terrible narration

This was a pretty good story but the narration was terrible. A print version would have been more enjoyable.

Harry and the Hendersons!!!

This was a good listen! The fear factor was really enhanced in an audible version, compared to the written word. Suspicious big foot sightings have been whispered about, folk are being maimed and an evil scientist is up to no good...I wouldn't go down to those woods today!

Gripping!

Well narrated I found the story easy to follow as the various characters and sub plots unfolded. Great twist, great ending!
