A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Publisher's Summary
A giant redneck in Fairyland, what could possibly go wrong?
Everything. Absolutely everything.
Monsters, Magic, & Mayhem collects four novellas chronicling Bubba the Monster Hunter's trip through the lands of the Fae in search of his kidnapped sister. Yeah, he didn't know he had a sister, either. And that joke's old, man.
Into the Mystic - Bubba and his troupe of merry morons has to find their way to Fairyland to rescue his sister. It's not as easy as it sounds, and it involves Bubba learning a lot of uncomfortable truths about why his mother walked out and his maybe not-quite human heritage.
Cold as Ice - Bubba meets his grandmother, which should be great. Except she's the psychotic Queen of the Winter Court and wants to pretty much murder everyone. There's torture, tights, and Bubba dancing. Which is pretty much torture in tights. So lots of torture.
Hot Blooded - Bubba and co. travel to the Summer Court in their quest for his sister, only to find that his grandfather, while less abjectly psychopathic than his ex-wife, Mab, is still kind of a douche. And just when the team thought they were on the right track to finish their quest, there's a dragon. A dragon. This is not something growing up in Georgia prepares you for.
Shades of Grey - Bubba is closing in on his sister and her kidnapper, the Shakespearean trickster Puck. Except, he's not like hot Loki trickster. He's more like cut-your-throat-while-you-sleep-and-tell-you-a-knock-knock-joke-while-you're-bleeding-out trickster. Bubba has to battle his way through a horde of zombies just to get the opportunity to go on an old-fashioned dungeon crawl (with spiders, because...dungeon) to maybe finally confront Puck and save his sister.
Then they get home, and things get really screwed up!

NOOOOO!!! I need more!!!
I'm a HUGE fan of dick jokes and immature humor. If you aren't, maybe this isn't for you. I listened to this one on a looong road trip, and found my family giving me strange looks when I burst out laughing at random times (headphones). My teen son, who was listening to zom-poc, asked me if I was listening to Bubba, when we were stopped at a gas station. Apparently, I'd turned up the volume to combat wind/truck noises on the interstate, and when the car was silent, he could hear the familiar twang. As always, this snarky, irreverent humor was top-notch, and the story was very entertaining.

I love this series
I grew up in the mountains of Appalachia. Bubba reminds me of one of my best friends growing up. He’s big, strong, and has a heart of gold. I know it might not be for everyone but every time I hear that southern accent, I think of my friend Matt and it reminds me of all the good times we had hunting, fishing and getting into trouble.
I don’t know if it’s the best story or the most original, but I love every minute of it.

Something on a completely different level
Following the previous two installments ts in the series, this book continues in the same style, leaning heavily on the down-to-earth self-deprecating humor as seen through the beer goggles of the giant monster hunting redneck.
Towards the end of the first part, I was almost overwhelmed with the tired clichès and pretty much gave up on the book, giving it a 2 star rating and an angry comment. The next day I continued listening to the story, however, as I didn't have another book readily available. And the insuing events in their glorious lack of sense reminded me that this book simply cannot be judged on the same scale as its distant relatives written by likes of Jim Butcher, Kevin Hearne and, of course, Neil Gaiman. These books exist on a completely different level, perhaps more closely related to the works of Robert Bevan than anything else (though compared to Cooper, Bubba looks almost like the Queen of England). In any case, I unclenched my previously clenched body parts, relaxed, and continued to listed to the book the way it is intended to be listened - without thinking about or analyzing anything, and simply allowing it to carry me along as a tube on a midwestern river during a warm summer day... And ended up enjoying the ride (well, sort of).

You gotta love Bubba
Bubba is maybe a little extra lovable in this forth season of his adventures. Or maybe that's just the setting and supporting cast. In any event, nothing in these stories disappoints, It's more of the same good old Bubba and friends with some new faces and a great exploration of a new setting touched on in the last season. Bubba grows, the setting grows, and we get the pleasure of being there for it.

love it
I love when Bubba the Monster Hunter comes out in a series like this, instead of novella size. I feel like I am getting my credit worth, plus don't have to wait for the next installment to come out.
That being said, I think this has been my favorite so far. As usual, Bubba and friends have to either kill or rescue something, but this time it is Fairy. There was plenty of action, some good laughs and overall, a great story. The narrator does an amazing job bringing it all to life
