All races in that part of the galaxy are subjects of the Confederation and forced to obey the Confederation’s laws. Story
The Trellixian Empire was constantly expanding, seeking new worlds for its ever-increasing population. If worlds were discovered with existing sentient populations, they were cleansed to make room for colonization. Hundreds of budding civilizations had been eliminated by Trellixian battle fleets. On Earth, years in the past, a scout ship fleeing from the Trellixians crashed. Scientists investigating the wreckage discovered what the Trellixians had done to the world the scout ship escaped from. They also discovered it was only a matter of time before the Trellixians reached Earth.

Story
In the 20th century Earth sent probes, transmissions, and welcoming messages to the stars. Unfortunately, someone noticed. The Galactics arrived with their battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined their vast Empire. Swearing allegiance to our distant alien overlords wasn't the only requirement for survival. We also had to have something of value to trade, something that neighboring planets would pay their hard-earned credits to buy. As most of the local worlds were too civilized to have a proper army, the only valuable service Earth could provide came in the form of soldiers....

Publisher's Summary
For the first time, all three short stories that introduce The Slaver Wars science fiction series are together. The Slaver Wars has currently sold over 100,000 copies. Listen to how it all began.
Disaster has struck the first Moon landing to be attempted in years. Commander Jason Strong and his fellow lunar explorer Greg Johnson have become stranded with no way home. In desperation, they set off in their lunar rover to check out an anomaly they discovered on their descent. What they find will shake their beliefs and what they know of human history. It is the beginning of an adventure that will take them far out into the Solar System and to a discovery that is beyond belief.

"Is this safe," says mission commander too often!
I loved the story, but the delivery was far too repetitive. I can't imagine a space commander being so intimidated by the safety concerns. I really hope the next books in the series improve. I don't need a dozen reminders of the events that transpired in the last chapter. I would like it to move along faster and tell me more about the aliens.

Novice sci-fi author
A moon landing goes bad after encountering interference that breaks down the lander’s on-board computerized systems. Two astronauts—now being stranded on the Moon—discovers a powerful artificial intelligence and an approaching threat to Earth while investigating the source of the interference.
The story is simple, the plot line is simple, the premise is shallow, and the characters act like robots reading a script of their expected emotional reactions. There is no connection between their emotions and their behavior. Having read more than my fair share of sci-fi books, it is easy to tell that Raymond L. Weil is a novice sci-fi author.
The aliens are, of course, fully fluent in English and no Earth customs surprises them.

The content may annoy people
The story was great, it has been a long time since I read a book by the author. However, being older and no wiser, certain points of the story annoyed me when the author indicated why a certain question was asked. Did not mind it while reading, but frustrating while listening. overall, a great story except for the quirks. I will certainly purchase the entire series.
Narrator was great and used good tone and noises to indicate different scenarios and actions.

This is my narrative. My narrative is from grade 1
Would you try another book from Raymond L. Weil and/or Liam Owen?
No chance of ever trying this author again.
Listening to this book one is constantly reminded of the genre that follows the pattern of: "This is John. John is a boy. John is a happy boy. "I am a happy boy", says John. This is Jane. Jane also thinks John is a happy boy. "John is a happy boy", says Jane". You know: Grade 1 narrative.
The characters are also all bland and boring, and inhumanely too good and caring and sickeningly un-human.
I just couldn't take it anymore.
Has Moon Wreck turned you off from other books in this genre?
No, there are great books in this genre, just not from this author.
What three words best describe Liam Owen’s voice?
Potentially good, but not with this level of book
What character would you cut from Moon Wreck?

Complete waste of time!
Would you try another book from Raymond L. Weil and/or Liam Owen?
NO! This author must loath the editing process or the "editor" should be shot. There are so many "WTF" and "Are you serious?" moments that the book was complete unenjoyable.
Has Moon Wreck turned you off from other books in this genre?
No. But if this was one of my first ventures into I would be very concerned about wasting more time.
How could the performance have been better?
Give the performer a better script and I am sure he could have been better. Seriously, there was not much to work with here.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Moon Wreck?
Well, I would have suggested a few things.
1) The premise is pretty good. Begin there and rethink everything.
2) Rethink the characters and their motivations.
3) Stop endlessly reminding people of concepts and events that just happened. It is unnecessary and annoying. People do not want to be annoyed while reading things. So stop reminding then of those annoying things. Like the times that you restate some event or concept that just happened. Those things can be annoying. ;)
4) Spend TIME explaining things like how everyone speaks english, has similar gestures, similar rank structure. Also, come up with a better reason for the similarities and accentuate the differences. (of course you have to actually have differences to accentuate first). This is supposed to be a race of humans that evolved and lived on multiple worlds independently from earth. You might want to spend some time addressing how the hell that is possible.
That would be session 1 of about 50 meetings. This entire book needed 3 more years of development.
Any additional comments?
I don't think I can express in words how bad this entire thing is. I'm not sure what possessed this author to think this was done enough to produce a book or series out of. It is an ill conceived and ill explained nightmare of ineptness. Horrible, terrible, and easily the shittiest attempt at Science Fiction I have had the unfortunate opportunity to witness in at least 5 years.

A book of cliches
I just got done listing to this book. I will be returning it..
So much more could have been done with the base concept in the book.
I was hopping for something in the Lost Fleet or Kris Longknife type of space adventure.
I was very disappointed. The authors writing style needs lots of work.
Example: At one point everyone on the bridge of a ship or two were introduced along a few "interesting" details about each. Now I am sorry, but most folks will only remember the names of one or two key characters. One should concentrate on developing them. Not giving me useless personal details on folks I may on hear about only one time. It got to the point I just did not care any more.
As one reviewer also pointed out this author has a very limited view of professionalism of woman kind. Example: One of the first things a female computer expert wants to do is give the newly found alien ship the woman's touch. What??? There is more stuff like this...

Awesome Series!
This is an incredible series! I didn't listen to this book first I started with The Slaver Wars: Alien Contact: The Slaver Wars Book Two (The Slaver Wars Book One) (Volume 1).
It was absolutely amazing! Looks of action, epic battles scenes, and just wow! Excellent story, don't want to give too many spoilers, but very exciting. After hearing and listening to that, I then listened to this one, which is a slower pace but provides much of the now what? After you hear Alien Contact.
Personally, I think you should start with Alien Contact, before listening to this, or it won't be as powerful!
Great series! Really good voice acting too!

I have both read books and listening
The story was “ok”, the author rushed the story line and was too repetitive on the details along the story. There is absolutely no reason to describe the same details every time they use FTL, describing the same details about the races met and many other things. It makes the story repetitive and boring to the reader and the listener. The story has potential, plus the skipping so much Time takes away from the entire story line. The issues the crew ram onto when arriving on earth could have made up an entire additional book but the author chose to mention it in passing. The author missed out on the great potential this story line had. I still finished every book in reading and have been listening to them in hopes that the constant repeating the details might have been filtered out but no such luck.

A slight story written rather badly
What would have made Moon Wreck better?
The story could have been more intriguing and complex, it was very simple, like an episode of Dr Who maybe! I enjoy listening to complex 'space operas' and listened to this so I could potentially move to the other books in the series, I won't do that as this wasn't good enough. The biggest issue for me was the extremely poor sentence construction. Words were repeated multiple times in consecutive sentences, ideas were repeated. Characters were not really developed. All in all I am surprised this was published let alone turned into an audio book.
What will your next listen be?
nothing from this author
What three words best describe Liam Owen’s performance?
ok job of poor material.

WARNING!
What was most disappointing about Raymond L. Weil’s story?
Firstly, this book is not strictly Whysper Sync as the text often does not match the Audio, which is annoying.
The book had potential with an interesting storyline but it was so badly written and repetitive. I persevered to the end hoping it would get better but it didn't.
I had hoped I'd found a new author but this didn't inspire me.
Mara's review 28/2/17) sums the book up well so I'll only repeat; that if I'd heard one more time about Gregg missing his wife and child, I'd have thrown my phone against the wall!
Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Liam Owen?
The narrator has a good voice and differentiated between the characters but he seemed as though he was racing towards the finish! Perhaps he was told he had to keep the length down! He seemed to slow the pace in the last third of the book - unless I'd just got used to the speed-read by then!

Horrible performance, weak writing, good storyline
To say it short - I wish that someone else had written the story and someone else had been reading it out loud. Because the storyline in itself is very intriguing.
At first I thought the problem was only the performance because he is reading like every sentence is a title for a movie (with that movie voice and an intonation of "what I'm saying *right now* is extremely important!"). And it continues for every sentence! Listen to the sample! It won't get any better!
But after some further listening to the story I understood that the writing in itself isn't helping the reader. It's very plain, like a skeleton without the meat around. A person's emotion is being declared in a matter of fact fashion and exaggerated. Many facts were repeated several times over - the listener isn't that dumb to forget it all so fast. A perfect example is in the beginning with "He has a wife and son. He misses them. He doesn't want his wife to grow the son up alone. He wants to go home." I mean - how many times do you have to repeat this? In almost the same words! It was more than frustrating!
I finished the book only because of the story itself but I will not be capable of listening to any of the further books...! I don't have a clue how it got so good reviews! It feels like it was written by a teenager in highschool - I wrote essays like this in my time at school!

Great Author
I had come to the end of my books that I was listening to and searching for another good book to listen too and I think that I have found that with this Author, I couldn't take my earphones off once I started and cannot wait for the rest of this series to come along.
(The storey line is a bit like Battle Star Galactica in some ways)
I would recomend these stories to other listeners.

Irritating voice, repetitive writing, good story
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Editing the text to remove the weak and repetitive characterisation and reading by someone who put a bit more enthusiasm into it.
Would you be willing to try another one of Liam Owen’s performances?
No
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Put up with dull performance and poor writing to follow the story.

A good story line
Took me a while to get used to the narrator, but after the first three chapters I got used to the delivery.
I am now looking forward to reading the other books.
I enjoyed the story immensely, which I found very credible
