Just What I Needed!

Al Carraway, your enthusiasm for God and the gospel of Jesus Christ, including His restored church, was exactly what I needed in my life right now! I have felt the same thrill from the truths you celebrate. And I've had similar moments when I'm going through a trial so heavy I don't think I can bear it, only to find that as I turn to Christ and trust in Him, I am guided through it and come out better on the other end, as you testified. Thank you for reminding me of my own lifetime of conversion experiences! I hope to be better at sharing my testimony and inviting others to join us, as you are! I love your passion!
Hearing this story was awesome! I loved the honest and entertaining descriptions of Al's thoughts about the missionaries when she was first learning the gospel. She had me literally laughing outloud!

Game Changer!

This book absolutely pulled me out of a BIG funk I've been in for a while now. It helped me to focus on what I know is important and also to remind myself that God's plan for me will ALWAYS be better thank anything I can think up for myself. But I need to trust and believe that there is a plan! It reminded me that today is always the best thing to focus on. Don't worry about what happened yesterday or what will come tomorrow. Today is a good day to be happy and present. Thank you Al for your honesty, and being raw and vulnerable. This IS your mission :)

great story when it's a story. redundant between

I am very inspired from her guts to do what her heart told her to to. Loved the family dynamics, her conversion, her heart blowing her west, disappointment and trials to her destiny.

My rating is because of the many, "in-between", the solid inspiring stories - the cheerleader type, long scarament meeting talk became hard to listen to. Started sounding like the same thing, again, again.

But who am I to rate a book or a person. My opinion or, "take", on how I felt when reading is just my opinion - my DNA shows I'm part Neanderthal so take me with a slab of red meat. Read it. Fnd out what your opinion is. Glean what is good and matches you, inspires you - take it with you and leave the rest. She did the same on her journey, good or bad. Life.

Very inspiring

This book is so inspiring. I don’t understand the reviews that say this isn’t an autobiography. It definitely is. She talks about her childhood, and growing up Catholic with her divorced parents. She talks about her teenage years and early twenties. She meets the missionaries at age 20, and from there talks about her conversion and the trials and blessings that came with that. Yes, the majority of the book is from age 20 on, but going off the title one would assume that the book is going to talk a lot about her journey with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Her journey is full of awe and relatable. Some of the experiences she had, my husband as a convert had as well. Her faith didn’t come easy, and she went through some hard times to build her knowledge and testimony.
I definitely recommend this book.

Awesome

Loved the book, beautiful strong young woman. What a strong testimony and love for the gospel. The world would be a better place if it was full of people like her.

Story is missing the story part

As a narrator, I thought Ms. Carraway was very good. Her tone and grammar kept me listening at first. However, as someone telling an auto-biographical story, primarily based on religious conversion, it started to sound a little affected and sales-pitchy. She completely glossed over large chunks of her story; the "why" of why she even converted, the wedge created between herself and her family, her own personal life (all I garnered was that she was a parking lot attendant). She only devoted short passages to her story, and instead kept going back to euphoric experiences while at church, and even those seemed to be missing details. This read more like a motivational religious blog than a personal story with depth.

Not what I expected

I thought I'd learn more about her conversion and life than I could read online but most of the time there were religious messages all along. it is not a biography.
