Publisher's Summary

Mortality Bites: Publisher's Pack contains Books 1 and 2 of the Mortality Bites series.

Mortality Bites, Book 1:

Mythical creatures are real, and the world is just finding out. Discovering that your neighbor was once an evil, blood-sucking fiend tends to bring property values down.

Katrina Darling’s only real friend has been murdered. And not just murdered - ritually sacrificed by a serial killer. Kat is sure more death will follow. She should know...she used to be the monster plunging the blade in. Trouble is, after 300 years of being a vampire, Kat has forgotten what it means to be human. One thing she does remember is that friends matter. Now she's determined to find whoever - or whatever - killed her friend before more victims surface. But just as the hunt begins, a mysterious young man discovers exactly what she was. Kat has a decision to make: run and keep her monstrous past hidden, or avenge her friend and save the city from a merciless serial killer.

Family Matters, Book 2:

Family matters...but so does breathing.

All I want is to be a normal college student, doing normal human stuff...you know - date the resident hunk, study, date some more. But when you’re once undead mother pops in for a surprise visit, well, that's anything but normal. I think it’s best to make good ol' mom's visit as short as possible. But when a deranged stalker from our past, hell-bent on making my mother suffer, interrupts our little dysfunctional family reunion, I’m forced into a perilous fight that could very well get me, my boyfriend, and everyone I know killed. I’m Katrina Darling, a 300-year-old ex-vampire who apparently still has mommy issues.

If you like the Dresden Files, Mercy Thompson, or Buffy the Vampire Slayer, then you’ll be helplessly addicted to the Mortality Bites series!

Ugh

I tried to like it but honestly I was bored after first chapter there just wasn’t anything holding my interest in the book the heroine is mediocre vampire at best who supposedly lost her vampirism and became human after the gods left with Their magic there was some scenes that were supposed to be funny but just fell flat couldn’t continue as much as I wanted to at least it is free but I have to admit the free plus catalog don’t have good books

too many unresolved issues

This felt like an unfinished book to me. Like the author stopped before the final chapter. There are too many unresolved issues. I felt frustrated.

Why did her mother change through the years?
Why the rush to marry?
Why be ousted from the community if she is personally assisting Luke the ruler (not sure if that is the word)?
And plenty more questions that leave me wishing I hadn't read the book. Frustrating.

Love Myths Come to Life

So I think if the "gods" left, our world would devolve. too much stake is out into religion for humans to survive it well, BUT the idea that all the possibly mythical and magical crashes into earth is absolutely wonderful!

Truth may be bitter, but it is always nourishing!

Mortality Bites #1 - The story begins as a light-hearted romp about a vampire struggling to fit in at the university among the humans. As the tale expands, the complexity of the true plotline makes itself known. As a result of the gods deserting earth, all the mythical, paranormal, and horror beings called “Others”, fell to earth and now must find their place in this human world. Our MC, Katrina “Kat” Darling is the vampire, struggling not only with fitting in but with her three-hundred-year past and the deaths she committed.
Family Matters Matter #2 – Someone is looking for Charlotte Darling, Katrina’s mother. Charlotte has gone to the university to see Kat. Charlotte was searching for something other than a family reunion. Charlotte was quite the stinker. We learn of Kit’s transformation at the age of fifteen, including the additional background of her childhood. Our girl has a tendency of saying out loud what she is thinking, which is pretty funny. I like the series so far. I may invest in the next two parts of the series. We’ll see.

Very obviously written by a man

The main character read like a teen boy's wish fulfillment. She was not a fully realized MC.

great mistory

These books are a great mystery suspense but the leading character drones on and on and I find that I can skip half the book and not really miss anything important.

So addictive!

I found this series completely by accident in kindle, and took a chance on the audio before even starting to read. Gone gods damn this story for being so addictive, with such perfectly fitting narration! I'm completely hooked, and none of the other books in the Gone Gods world seem to be in audiobook :-/

excellent young adult fantasy

was unsure about this series but thought I'd give it a try, during the first chapter I considered stopping and finding something else.
so glad I kept going because after chapter two I was fully immersed in this world and invested in the main character an ex vampire names kat.

a very enjoyable book and I recommend getting it.
I'm now off to buy the next two books in the series.
