He’s the devil himself: Damon Copeland (he practically carries a pitchfork), fiery-hot, a torturously sexy body, and a killer smile (if he ever smiled). He’s also the top dog at my father’s company and my brother’s best friend. Oh, and someone I accidentally slept with. In my defense, that was before I knew who he was and before he hired me. Now, my one-night stand has turned into my boss. What’s worse, he’s Mr. Bosshole Superior: brutish, broody, and impatient. He’s also 6’4". And I’m pretty sure he hates me. He's a billionaire heir. A grump supreme. Hater of people. Bigger hater of peopling with people. And my new fake boyfriend. "Emotionally unavailable" doesn’t even begin to describe Hayes Rutherford. He has more defenses than a nuclear missile silo. And he’s the ultimate catch of the century. At least, according to his bank statement. My job’s simple: Keep all interested ladies away from the walled-off heir, by pretending to be his one true love. But you know what they say about fake-dating a billionaire: It’s all fun and games, until the scandals start.

Am I friends with JP Cane? Ha! That's laughable. Besides the fact that he’s adopted some far-fetched notion from the movie When Harry Met Sally that says men and women can't be friends and work together, it’s safe to say we're not friends. He's annoyingly loud, obnoxiously handsome, and has made an art out of poking all my hot buttons...multiple times a day. So you can imagine how disgruntled I am when I not only have to fly to San Francisco with him for work, but stay in the same penthouse. Yup, we're sharing the same air, 24-7. We're talking full-fledged working roommates.

I knocked up my best friend's sister. Let's start with how she decided to inform me and Pacey the news...together. Imagine that nightmare. I was going into what I thought was a hockey marketing meeting, and then bam! I'm going to be a dad and my best friend/teammate is attempting to imprint my face with his fist. Threats were tossed around, friendships were revoked, and then I was marched up to her apartment, suitcases in hand, and forced to live with her so I could take care of her every need. Now I'm finding it harder and harder not to fall for my best friend's little sister.

The quintessential question asked to every couple. And the answer is usually some bubbly, lovey dovey tale of being struck in the bum by Cupid’s arrow. It’s official. I’m totally hopeless at love, parenting, and life. Single mom? Check. Massive debt? Check. A sassy daughter who inherited my gift of snark? Ugh. Check. I work three jobs, go to school, and do my best to be in my kid’s life. Men are the last thing on my mind. I wouldn’t have time to look at a man even if he fell into my lap. Until he does. Publisher's Summary
OMG - the cute little dog I adopted turns out to be a billionaire Maltese! That's right, my tiny dog just inherited giant corporation!
I'm Vicky, the dog whisperer. (Not really, but that's what my elderly neighbor says whenever I walk her dog, Smuckers.)
When she dies, she surprises everybody by leaving a corporation worth billions to Smuckers...and she leaves Smuckers to me.
Suddenly, I go from running my Etsy store to sitting in an elegant Wall Street boardroom with Smuckers in my lap. And my neighbor's son, Henry Locke, aka New York's most eligible bachelor, glaring across the table at me.
Rumor has it Henry's a business genius who's as talented in the bedroom as he is in the boardroom. Sure, he's gorgeous. Sex in a 7,000 dollar suit. But....
He's arrogant and infuriating. He refuses to listen to me when I insist I didn't con his mother. He thinks he can bully me, buy me off, control me, even seduce me.
Henry may have the women of Manhattan eating out of the palm of his hand, but I'm so over entitled rich guys who think they own the world.
No way will his wicked smile be charming me out of my panties.
His wicked...devastating...impossible-to-resist smile.
Oh well, who needs panties anyway?
A sexy enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy stand-alone!

A rom com that is full of heart
I am really digging this book because her wiring is fresh, intelligent and funny. This one is pretty whimsical which I enjoyed. The premise of leaving the company to a dog sold me. The narrators are really killing it in this one. I laughed during the funny bits and actually shed some tears during the emotional peak. I usually expect tears in the angsty ones and not in a rom com. Neva reminded me of Maxine’s narration whom I also love and Jason is now one of my fav one click narrator. The emotional range they brought to the performance is breathtaking. Did I mention this is a rom com?

Everyone knows a Vonda...
It's so messed up how nameless, faceless people literally shape the world's perception of others. Nothing is worse than being innocent and wrongly vilified. Hats off to all the Henrys of the world - who believe or at least gives people a chance to tell their side of the story. To all the Vondas out there - dont allow a patriarchal, nameless and faceless society to stop you from speaking your truth...if you're a victim, let everyone know and if they dont believe you, dont let it matter love the Henrys that do believe you, let those Henrys in your inner circle and smuck you to all the rest! Your truth is the only thing that matters.
Loved this HEA! Loved this story, that (un)fortunately is too reflective of real life.

I laughed. I cried. I got angry. I fell in love!
I went into this story knowing that I would enjoy it simply based on the Author and the narrators. It absolutely superseded my expectations! There are cute moments, hilarious moments, and some down-right hideous memory moments highlighting the ugly truth of our society. BUT - There are also tender, sweet moments and SEXY AS HELL moments to sky rocket you to just the right place. Altogether a great story that I will listen to again. The characters are complex and interesting with back stories that unfold naturally through and reveal things I did not anticipate. Even though a lot of romance HEA stories follow a similar arc, this one surprised me a few times in a very pleasant way. You think you know what and how everything will happen, but you are probably wrong on at least part of it. I laughed. I cried. I got angry. I fell in love with Henry and Vicky.
The performances are excellent! Jason Clarke is one of my favorite narrators, and his performance was exactly what I have come to expect from him. I finished in one day and was never pulled out of the story by anything other than RL. Neva is a fairly new narrator (to me) with an interesting voice and style. She delivers some gut-wrenching moments when you can just tell she is caught up on the moment and taking you with her on this journey.
Vicky is strong and someone any woman could look up to. She has been through something terrible that was twisted and made worse - something the corrupt powerful and our society in general is all too capable of doing by fanning the flames of bullying and shaming without knowing the facts, and absolutely tearing an undeserving person apart. She remakes herself and takes care of her sister. She stands up for herself and learns from past mistakes. She is evolving, as are we all!
Henry is my new book boyfriend with his protective nature, forward-thinking business sense, conscientious design, and let us not forget his sexy-as-hell personality and platinum-level dirty talking self. Henry puts that situation-appropriate dirty mouth to good use and evolves into my latest book boyfriend throughout the story as the layers are pealed back. I don't want to give any spoilers, but holy hotness in a sex-positive, strong male character without being a douche way!

Good story
I enjoyed the story and the chemistry for the most part but I’m really tired of stories that spend 80% of the time on the stupidity and drama (oh I love him but I’m not good enough and no matter what he does, I certainly can’t believe in a happy ending for me) and 5 minutes on the celebration of the inevitable happy ending! Can we not have more happy and less misery in our entertainment???

More than its Title
With a funny start this story turned to more than a rom com, as it continued it slowly revealed a dark moment in the past of our heroine's life.
the performance was great, while it was dominated by the female narrator as the book is told in the female's pov there was not a moment the emotions where not expressed to grip on to the listners emotions, as I enjoyed this one and do recommned I have to mentioned it was a bit more emotional than it was expected in the best ways it held a HEA.

Great story!
Really love this series, just don't like the narration. The female narrator sounds nasally like she has a cold. It's quite annoying and hard to listen to. I just overlooked it because I like the author and the storyline. Hope there are more books coming in this series (but with a different female narrator).

Anticlimactic Ending
Story was good. Kept me guessing the whole time. Narrator pretty good. But at the end, after spending so many hours listening, the two leads were separated by an ocean, and it took only TWENTY MINUTES to tie up all the threads of the stories in a HEA ending. Left a very bad taste in my mouth.

3.5, more painful than fun
Overall, glad I listened. yes, it had funny moments, but I found a lot of it emotionally painful, and in some ways that felt a little heavy handed by the author. not enough balance, and not for this genre. I don't really enjoy the billionaire/millionaire male lead storyline, as think they are old fashioned and speak to old school power imbalances, and girl needs saving, approaches that don't have a place in our current world. I guess in this case, the power imbalance was still there, but some was more perceived than real. I also struggle when authors try to create male leads who have come from abusive or neglected childhoods, apparently have had no counselling, but still appear quite emotionally well adjusted- add many layers of wealth and entitlement, and its not believable. narrators were pretty good for this - the female narrator took me a little getting used to, and there wasn't much differentiation between her female voices. not sure if a production issue, but each chapter she read, including final words of book ended so abruptly that I thought it had been cut short and I missed something!
