Story
Most families are dysfunctional, in the sense that everyone is all over the place. There are different views, morals, judgments, and characters, but at the end of the day, the family is there for you. However, that’s not the case in a narcissist’s home. Whether there is one or three of them in the family, it is always going to be dysfunctional when a narcissist is involved. It’s time to break the cycle of narcissistic abuse by becoming aware of the hold and power they robbed you of. You owe it to yourself and your future to experience the best life possible.

For each of us, there is a connection between our early family dynamics and experiences and our current attitudes and decisions. Many of the people Dr. Laura has helped did not realize how their histories impacted their adult lives, or how their choices in people, repetitive situations, and decisions, even their emotional reactions, were connected to those early negative experiences, playing a major role in their current unhappiness.

Publisher's Summary
Does every interaction with your mother make you feel terrible? Do you hate going to family events because everything turns negative while you are there? Does your mother take every chance she can to correct your behavior? Does she always seem to be disappointed with you? Are your mother’s words harsh and irritating? Does it seem like she is always trying to control you?
Is she never happy with your successes? Does she seem like she cares little about who you really are? Do you feel as though your mother never really attuned to you? Did you often envision having a better relationship with your mom, but it never truly pans out? Do you feel guilty when you go no-contact with your mom, only to feel even worse when you finally do contact her?
Are you suffering from depression, complex PTSD, anxiety and more? Do you feel anxious when you are around your family because they always blame you for your strained relationship with your mom? Is your mom codependent on you, like she views you as an extension of yourself rather than accepting that you are your own person?
Mother wounds can wound a child deep in their inner core. We look to our moms for nurturing, safety, and comfort. But when our mothers cannot supply that, it leaves us feeling alone in the world. We always blame ourselves because we cannot seem to make our moms like us or get our mom’s approval.
If you feel wounded by your mother, this book is for you.

I expected a lot more, no valuable information
Don't recommend if you have an abusive mother. The entire "book" is just a long list of what ifs and excuses for why mother's have it rough. It made me feel a bit better as a mother myself, but it's a VERY narrow point of view with a lot of "matter of facts" which are not true in every situation. For a book called "Mother Wound" I'm not understanding why the point of view is only the "mother's." The whole takeaway is "Mother's have so much going on, it's not really their fault they did something wrong."
They also called single moms desperate so that's a bit insulting. Not a fan of the fact a man is narrating this. It just doesn't fit.
