Publisher's Summary
The sequel to the number one Audible Best Seller Earthcore.
From the number one New York Times best-selling author of the Generations Trilogy comes the second book in the Sun Symbol series, an epic story of lost civilizations, redemption, and immeasurable treasure.
With shades of Tom Clancy, Stephen King, and James Rollins, Mount Fitz Roy continues the tale of Patrick O’Doyle and Bertha Lybrand, who were part of the horror show that occurred far below the mountains of Utah. They learn that the "mother of all motherlodes” discovered there was not unique, that there is another deposit similar to it three miles beneath the towering peak of Cerro Chaltén on the disputed border between Chile and Argentina.
O'Doyle, a middle-aged former member of a disgraced black-ops unit, gets his aging team back together to go after this fortune. Funded by the mining company EarthCore, he, Bertha, and his crew of 40-something operators try to turn back the clock long enough to make them all richer than their wildest dreams.
But three miles below the surface, where geothermal temperatures will cook you alive, something is waiting. Waiting, and guarding. This time, O’Doyle is well-prepared and well-armed - if he survives, he will be set for life, and he will have his revenge for the Utah massacre.

Story
Ataegina was an isolated world of medieval castles, varied cultures, and conquests, vibrant until the demons rose and spread relentless destruction. Swarms of lethal creatures with black husks, murderous claws, barbed tails, and dreaded “tooth-tongues” raged through the lowlands, killing 90 percent of the planet’s population. Terrified survivors fled to hidden mountain keeps where they eke out a meager existence. When a trio of young warriors discovers a new weapon, they see a chance to end this curse. So worth the wait!
I've been waiting for this book for about 15 years, and it is so worth the wait. I discovered Scott Sigler's work in 2005 when he first podcast Earthcore, the book that precedes Mount Fitz Roy. This makes me an OG Junkie, I guess. (Junkie is the nickname for Sigler fans - because as we listened to the EarthCore podcast, which quickly became known as Earthcrack, we were addicted). It is classic Sigler - heart pounding, violent, terrifying, sometimes gross, and at times unexpectedly touching. If I were to compare Sigler to another author it would be Stephen King. Both are frequently characterized as horror genre authors, but both are so much more. As with many of his other works, Mt. Fitz Roy is, at heart, a story of honor and redemption - all wrapped up in a thrilling, fast-paced adventure.
Mt. Fitz Roy is a sequel to EarthCore. Patrick O’Doyle and Bertha Lybrand, members of EarthCore's security force, survive the disaster that was the company's attempt to mine platinum in caves that hid a terrifying secret. In Mt. Fitz Roy, after learning that the motherlode they found and lost in Utah was not unique, O'Doyle and Lybrand lead a group of former black ops professionals, with financial backing from EarthCore, on a clandestine mission to South America to avenge their lost colleagues and make a fortune.
While you could listen to Mt. Fitz Roy without first listening to EarthCore and thoroughly enjoy the experience, I recommend that you listen to EarthCore first. Not only is it an exciting and addicting story, but the background that it gives will make Mt. Fitz Roy that much more enjoyable. EarthCore is available as a free podcast on Scott Sigler's website or as an audiobook on Audible. Ray Porter does an admirable job performing this book, as he did with EarthCore. Having said that, more than any other of his works, these two are the foundational heart of the Siglerverse, and I miss Scott Sigler's narration. He brought a certain manic glee to his narration, and his excitement at sharing his story shone through. For those of you that are already Sigler fans, Mt. Fitz Roy delivers everything you expect from his stories and more. There are references to people/events from a number of his other works, and I was delighted every time I found one.
Purchase Mt. Fitz Roy, It is beautifully done and is now the work that provides the framework that ties together many of the other stories in the Siglerverse. At almost 30 hours in length, it might seem daunting, but do not be deterred. It is a particularly welcome escape during the pandemic shutdown. For long time Sigler fans, Mt. Fitz Roy is well worth the wait - and if you are new to the Siglerverse, you are in luck. Unlike the rest of us, you won't have to wait 15 years to experience this adventure.

Scott just keeps getting better and better
I have been following Scott as a writer since the PodioBooks days reveling in all the titles he has produced to date and always impatient for the next one. Scott is definitely a master story teller and Mount Fitz Roy is a sterling example of the high levels to which he continues to hone his craft. Ray Porter knocked the narration out of the park....his voice acting talents would keep one glued to earbuds during a reading of a phone book....8-). Overall...stop reading this now and get the book.

Scott and Ray,
You definitely knocked this one out of the park.
Earthcore always felt abbreviated to me, like it was just a small part of the story. So many questions left unanswered.
Thank you for taking the time to write a sequel that fills in the blanks.

A perfect blockbuster sequel in the vein of Aliens
Sigler at his very best. Like Aliens, a truly perfect sequel that reinvents the formula, blows the stakes sky-high, and offers clever surprises and thrills throughout. Rich characters and empathetic antagonists, a marathon-length adventure that never slogs to its emotional climax. Ray Porter crushes it, breathing life into a wide and dynamic cast. 6/5 stars for fans of Sigler’s other work, who will appreciate delightful and impactful cameos. I’d been waiting for this book since 2007 and couldn’t have asked for more.

Repetition is the key word
Ray Porter is one my favorite narrators and Earthcore was a great story, so I was really looking forward to this book!
There is a good story hidden in there, but all the superfluous statements drown it out. The number of times your given the same reason for an action or the reflective internal struggle by each and every character for EVERY decision made is so very very tiresome. For the first time in over 100 audible books I found myself skipping fast forward.. so many times, just to get back to the story. Readers are not idiots and don't need to be told the same point over and over again, once is enough, even twice is OK but five or six times is too much!!

Superb story
Scott Sigler is a genius. I hadn't read a fiction book for 20years and picked up his work one day. Addictive characters you will love and hate. Stories that have made me cry, laugh and be on the edge of my seat. This story does not disappoint. The follow up to Earthcore is a great read and I'd highly recommend all of his work.

A great sequel that adds depth.
Excuse the pun in the title but I couldn't resist. No spoilers here as per Scott's totally understandable request.
This story greatly expands on the background to the rocktopi and makes them seem far more real and interesting. Excellent characterisation of all characters and each of them feels like a real person, with understandable motives, quirks and drivers. You, like me, may think you've missed something early in the book but everything is explained in the course of the tale so don't worry if things like 'Banda' doesn't mean anything at first.
There is a satisfying conclusion that still leaves the "Siglerverse" open for more fun and I look forward to it.
As always, Ray Porter's narration is excellent. Each character has their own voice and he's fantastic at putting emphasis on words to deliver exactly the effect Sigler was obviously aiming for.

Another Masterful Work From Scott Sigler!
Scott manages once again to produce an amazing story that draws you in, mixes you around and leaves you breathless and emotional at the end. This book is the follow up to Earthcore so if you haven’t read that one stop and do that now.
As a lover of science fiction I love the fact that Scott works closely with experts in various fields to ensure that there is an authenticity to his story that only comes with that close collaboration.
Earthcore is the entry point to the Siglerverse, the world of Scott Sigler and Mount Fitz Roy just takes you deeper into that world. Get the book, enjoy the story and meet us Sigler fans in a very special place.

another fantastic book!
I absolutely love the stories from the Siglerverse! Characters have depth as does the sci-fi! I've been sharing these books with my dad and we can't wait for the physical copy so he can read it and we can talk about it! I get so excited when I see another release from Scott Sigler. Write on Scott! always hungry for more!

A great listen
If you enjoyed earthcore this won't disappoint. Plenty of twists and new characters. Ray Porter is excellent again, he is becoming my favourite narrator.

Brilliant! GET THIS BOOK!
If you have read or listened to any other Sigler books and enjoyed them then get this. if you haven't ever experience the Siglerverse then do yourself a huge favour and grab a one way ticket to scifi and alien awesomenes! One of his most enjoyable and best written reads yet. Though not quite as scary as Earthcore because we already knew what was coming.
Thanks Scott. Keep them coming... can't wait for the Gangster!

Scott Sigler did not let me down.
If you haven't listened to this book on Audible then do it.
There is only a little bit of :
Swearing
Violence
True Love
Nature
Helicopters
Computer Programming
Dogs
Mules
Spiders
and a really good time.
...You didn't think I would give anything away do you?

Different Fun
Sigler takes his Earthcore creations and uses them in a totally different way. Mt Fitz Roy is not Earthcore again, and its great.

One EPIC sequel
I’ve been a fan of Scott’s work for almost 10 years. I’ve listened to every book and novella he’s released and Mount Fitzroy did not disappoint.
If you’ve only just got on board with this go check out Earthcore and if you’ve only listened to these two do yourself a favour and go check out the rest of his catalog, plenty of characters were slotted in and you’ll get to know their backgrounds. Start with Ancestor 😉
Ray Porter delivers as always, the story, the characters and the plot will keep you listening and the finale... wow

Scott at his best, but you should read Earthcore.
If you haven't read any of Scots work before, don't start with this one. You have to at least read Earthcore before this book and preferably all 3 of the Infected book Series. I know that sounds a lot of reading before just one book, but it is well worth it if you like this kind of thing and there are plenty more books from Scott that follow this but not directly.
This is not a YA book and if you don't like offensive language you're not gonna enjoy this, but if you like sci-fi and seeing how the best and worst of humanity would react when all hell breaks loose you will enjoy this book.

15 year wait!
After listening to Earthcore back in 2005 on its original release and Mount Fitz Roy being promised! It’s safe to say this book delivered everything I wanted!

Just brilliant.
Brilliant story, great characters, great performance.
Two weeks ago, I hadn't heard of Scott Sigler, i simply grabbed it as it was another Ray Porter job... Two books later, I can absolutely say I'm a fan. Ray Porter as a narrator is a win from the start, but I loved the story & the characters that Sigler spun. Time to expand my Sigler collection 😊
