Publisher's Summary
Mouse - the mysterious man with the unassuming moniker (and the mentor of teen super Kid Sensation) - finally has his story told.
Brilliant and gifted, Mouse is a mental whiz who fails utterly in his initial attempts to join a superhero team. With his dream ostensibly out of reach, he eventually ends up working at an electronics repair shop, toiling in relative obscurity but seemingly content and at peace with the hand fate has dealt to him. However, a surprise visit from the Alpha League - the world's premier team of superheroes - changes all of that in a heartbeat.
Implicated in a crime that he knows nothing about, Mouse is forced to go on the run. Hot on his heels is not only the Alpha League, but also an anonymous faction whose motives are questionable at best. But despite a lack of discernable super powers, Mouse - adroit and nimble in body as well as mind - is determined to stay one step ahead of his pursuers.
It soon becomes clear that he is at the center of events with far broader implications than anyone ever imagined, and Earth itself is in danger. However, with few resources and even fewer allies, saving the planet won't be easy, and even a cerebral crackerjack like Mouse might be forced to admit defeat.

The Super Secret Origin of Mouse Revealed!!
Mouse is an amazing character, and really does deserves a series of his own. I'd love to see Hardman focus a few books on Mouse after he gets ready to lay Kid Sensation off for a bit. Mouse's origins are revealed here, and man was it worth the wait. OK, I would've been happy if it came sooner, but as it stands we are fortunate to get a good run with the guy. I have to admit, the story was a little short tom em, but that is only because I wanted MORE MOUSE!!!! After reading this you will feel the same way.
This book filled in some questions and played out as a world building exercise, making it perfect for the master Hardman to continue with more Mouse tales. (Sorry) What is nice is that this actually builds up the existing storylines, and is not a spin off for its own sake, there are reasons we get this book, and now that we have it I think we will be clamboring for even more!!
Hardman has a great knack for telling a compelling story, and creating interesting characters, and it makes me wonder just how long he had been sitting on this story. I can't wait for more Sensation, but this was a welcome distraction to a wonderful series. Naramore knows how to tell a story, too. He really takes on the personas of the characters he portrays, and adds a dash of life to them that doesn't come from the written word. He can keep reading this series until Kevin says he's done writing it! Even though I did receive a promo code for this review it in no way influenced my considerations of the material, and in fact, inspired me to be more honest. In fact, getting a code generally makes me harsher as a reviewer as I am more often concerned what someone like Me will decide based on my review.

Quite different from the Kid stories
I’ve gotten through the first 3 books and Infiltration. The Kid sensation stories are more YA/teen but the Mouse’s Tale is definitely a little more adult with the number of curses. Not complaining, but might be good to know for anyone vetting the stories for their kids. As a teacher in a middle School, Mouse’s Tale likely wouldn’t make the cut.
That aside, this was one of my favorites so far. While Mouse has been an interesting character, he just took a bit more of a side role in the Kid books. This story makes him so much more interesting.

Mr Gadget meets MacGyvar
Really enjoyed this book. I like the way the Mouse uses his brains to do his fighting. It's entertaining to see the different weapons and gadgets he invents and develops. The story is filled with action and keeps you listening. I especially like the surprise ending. Mikael Maramore does an outstanding job in narrating the story.

Well That Was Fun!
That was my exact sentiment when I finished Mouse's Tale. When I began this book, I had no idea what to expect. It did not take long before I could not put it down. The characters, particularly Mouse, were complex and relatable, the writing was engaging and fast-paced, and the world of Superheroes, while not entirely original, had its own unique flair, which I found to be quite appealing.
One of the things I really enjoyed was that the story was more about the development of the characters than overcoming an evil villain, that’s not to say that this doesn’t happen. Moreover, Mouse is a rogue and the suppers don’t trust him, which makes this book more akin to a spy thriller where the main charter uses gadgets and cunning to avoid unjust imprisonment and in the process save the world. If you enjoy superhero novels, this is now one of the top on my list. I will definitely be reading more books in the world of the Alpha League and Kid Sensation.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A fun and exciting superhero story
Mouse’s Tale is a fun and exciting prequel to the Kid Sensation superhero series. This book is aimed at a slightly older audience as there are a bunch of f bombs included in the story.
The narrator of the audiobook is very good.

Kid Sensation tie in, but not series relevant.
I was excited to finally get the nitty gritty on Mouse the gruff genius mentor of Teen superhero Kid Sensation. Kid is not in this novel. well maybe he is I think he had a cameo but I'm not sure.
Anyway if you ever wondered what Mouse's story was this is it. Everything from his power set to his name and backstory are revealed.
I loved Mouse's attitude, his intelligence and his sense of humor. He's so smart that he refuses to let others walk all over him. He also stays ten steps ahead of the bad guys for so much of the book that it really ups the tension when the climax hits. Does he have a plan? What's he going to do?
I do feel like I need to mention that I noticed a lot of Language in this novel. I don't remember Kid Sensation novels having this much cursing, so keep that in mind. Also, no sex but a woman does stay over night with him and things are implied. Mouse is an adult so his story does not have to be YA.
Mikael Naramore is back to to keep the narration voice consistent. And I am pleased that he keeps his mouse voice throughout rather than sounding like Kid Sensation.
*I was the recipient of a unique code that allowed me to listen to a story most fantastic and strange. The above is my honest evaluation of that story*

Mysterious Mouse
Another great addition (prequel) to the Kid Sensation series. Mouse, Kid's mentor, has a wild backstory/history with the Alpha League team before he became its leader. This is that story, replete with aliens and "bad" good guys fighting to save the world (as always, right?!?). Great narration, story line and character development...

Definitely an alpha book-in a league of its own
I have listened to all the books in the Kid Sensation series and loved them, so was glad to see Mouse had a story all of his own. It was great to find out more about this character, in the Kid Sensation books you keep getting little hints as to Mouse's past and I really enjoy this book where the author weaved them altogether. You don't need to have read the previous books to enjoy it, as it can be taken as a stand alone book but I think it really adds to the enjoyment if you have met him in previous books. He is also a fun character and I liked his first introduction into the big league's- namely his interaction between the other super hero's. With lots of action and a little romance this book sure added a punch to the series.
Mouse a simple repairman is questioned by the Alpha league super hero's when one of his gadgets is used to rob a museum and the suspect is killed in the ensuing battle. The only thing is, Mouse is no ordinary guy and when it becomes obvious that they aren't just going to leve him alone to live his simple life he has to stop playing defensive and go on the attack but what he and the Alpha team doesn't know is that there are more sinister plans in the work.
I can't wait to see who the author writes about next.
The narrator does a brilliant job and I might have to see what other books he has narrated as I know if he is reading them then they are going to be good.

Entertaining Superhero Action
I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Mouse's Tale is set before Sensation which is book one of the Kid Sensation series and is Mouse's story which is great because Mouse is the mysterious character in the series of which we never really know anything about. The narrator is the same as the Kid Sensation series and has done another excellent job with this audiobook, lending his voice to bring depth to the many characters and life to the story as a whole.
During this story we find out Mouse's extraordinary gift and powers along with some of his background and his inherent goodness. As with most of these stories it is filled with action, humour and plenty of twists, but the superheroes prevail in the end. The ending also links in nicely with the Kid Sensation series. A worthwhile listen to anyone who loves superhero stories, especially those who have listened to or read the Kid Sensation series.

It was wonderful to finally get answers
It was wonderful to finally get answers to many things which were hinted at in the books. How Mouse lost his arm, whether he does have any powers and how he actually came to the Alpha League.

I always carry a spare.
Simply one of the most enjoyable superhero books that I have read.
Written in Kevin Hardman's distinctive straightforward style, detailed yet not obsessive, the story of Dale Goodson, generally known as Mouse, unfolds. Very bright, he had three times failed the examination to become a certified super hero and gain entry to the League, instead becoming a sidekick for a while and opening a small electronics repair shop. Then the Alpha League come calling: he's been implicated in a criminal activity committed by an old friend wearing equipment Mouse had designed especially for him. Mouse goes on the run, after all, he has to save the world.
A bit predictable, it's true, but so delightfully written, fast paced, lots of action and, at times, rather comic action - especially a bar fight. The characters are glorious. Such fun throughout. Narration is by Mikael Naramore, as usual, again his deepish baritone lending gravitas, his pace accompanying the excitement of the text, his intonation excellent and each character individually voiced. A fine performance.
My thanks to the rights holder of Mouse's Tale who, at my request, freely gifted me with a complimentary copy, via Audiobook Boom. Totally stand alone, this novel still recalls some of the protagonists in other books, notably the Kid Sensation stories. Such fun, and recommended.

Subtle powers make for an interesting listen
This was the first book I have encountered that is set in this universe, so I cannot be sure if I am missing something by starting with this one, but it did seem like a good introduction with the focus on a single hero with fairly subtle powers rather than a flashy team.
The main character in this book was a likeable one, far more so than the mostly overbearing and obnoxious 'Alpha League' team members who were so annoying at times that they made me less interested in reading books that focused on them for most of it.
The narrator did a good job with enhancing this story, helping to make the main character more interesting and keeping the supporting cast sufficiently distinctive from each other too.
Overall, I would be very interested in reading more about Mouse and to a lesser extent other characters in this universe.

Great Super Hero Adventure
Even though I have never read any of the other books in this series I really enjoyed this story, there were plenty of twists along the way to keep you guessing where things might be heading. The characters are somewhat predictable in their personalty traits when paired up to a power but this doesn't detract from the story at all. Mikael Naramore does another great job with the narration and remains one of my favourites.
Overall I really enjoyed this book and it has made me look into reading the rest of the series.
Please note that I was provided with a free copy of this audiobook to give a non-biased review.
