Our Favorite. So far.

We've had an audible subscription for about one year and this is our favorite story by far. We are ages 3, 7, 38 and 40 and we've listened to it countless times.

The narration is amazing. The story is delightful. As a bonus we were able to tie in some related geography, history and science to our homeschool memory work. Highly recommend!

Enjoyed by a sensitive 4 year old and her parents

What did you love best about Mr. Popper's Penguins?

This is a charming story, and our whole family enjoyed it. No scary scenes or anything that might frighten a sensitive child. It was read at a pace that kept my 4 year old engaged with the story.

Fun Story

Between the fun sound effects the narrator includes in his reading and the simplicity of the story itself, "Mr. Popper's Penguins" will be sure to brighten up the afternoon of anyone who enjoys a cute, family friendly, and comedic story.

great story

my 7 year old listened straight through and cried when it finished because she was not ready to say goodbye to the characters. she wanted to immediately start the book over again. I thought the voice could have been more into it, but he did attempt voices for the characters at least and my child liked listening to him, which is the point. overall it was fantastic and I'm very glad I got it.

Strange story

A weird story. It was hard to explain to my kids that you probably shouldn’t rework your life around penguins that arrive at your doorstep. It wasn’t that funny so it just became odd. The ending was jarring too, and even more unrealistic than the rest of the book.

A children's classic

A lovely, gently humorous narration of a book beloved by my children; as satisfying as reading the book aloud myself and a much more authentic experience than the movie of the same name.

Totally disappointed by the end

Performance is great.
Creativity of story is remarkable.
Content of story is really a sad commentary on a selfish and distracted man, the kind that makes American culture disrespect the role of a father in the family.
The fact that the mother and children don’t mind saying goodbye for a couple years speaks to the emptiness of their relationship.
I’d not read this story to children unless I wanted them to believe that fathers care more for pets and passions than they do for providing security and care for their kids.

Kid Favorite

My daughter (7) loved listening to this in the car. Difficult to adjust to the voice reading it but overall a total success.
