Publisher's Summary

When you’re clueless, Mr. Romance can help.

Charlie

I’m not sure how it happened, but it turns out I’ve unknowingly been dating three people.

Friends don’t spoil other friends, apparently. My trust fund means I can afford to, though, and what’s a meal here and there? Or some clothes? Or textbooks? That doesn’t mean we’re dating, right?

Others disagree. If I want to get through the rest of college knowing who my friends are, I need help from someone who knows all about dating and can tell me what not to do.

Someone like Mr. Romance.

Liam

When people look at me, romance is the last thing they think of…but I’m still the first person they call. Need a first date planned? A big romantic moment? Gotta beg for forgiveness? I’m your man. When it comes to romance, I’ve got it handled.

Not personally, though. My romantic life is…barren. All I really want is someone to snuggle with and spoil me. What I’ve got is planning dates for people who have no clue about romancing someone.

But now I’m somehow Charlie Martin’s anti-romance consultant. Charlie, who’s completely clueless yet the most accepting and friendly person I’ve ever met. Who’s giving and generous. Who’s befriended me and wants me to be happy.

I’m supposed to help him stop his friends from falling for him. The last thing I need is to fall for him myself.

what a letdown

this series as a whole is so good, but this one? so shallow and unbelievable. Charlie was completely unrealistic with his inability to read social cues. no one is THAT dumb. given he wasn't on any spectrum or neurodigirgent, they'd just no way.

There was no real explanation to their deciding to go to friends with benefits aside from horny- no real romance despite the title. just these 2 end up together because that's the point, but we never really get to see what they see in each other.

hate hate hate the whole Charlie wanting to change Liam and being obsessed with how he dresses. Liam deserves better. and I hate that it ends as soon as they get together and we never get to see them as a couple after the truly painful patience it takes to get there.

i adore Greg Bordeaux as a narrator usually, but he cannot pull off college age guys voices. He is way too smooth and it's clear he'd older than the 20some year old characters.

I loved it!

This book was funny and sweet, with enough human insecurities and obstacles not to be an insta-love plot. The side characters are enjoyable and this clearly ties in with the other books in the series.

Swoon

Seriously swoon 😍 Charlie is the perfect himbo and Liam is the perfect man to save him from himself. This is a feel good, fun and funny book which will leave you full of sunshine when you’re finished. Greg Boudreaux does an amazing job of bringing this book to life. Great performance!

Did not love it

The first half of this book was really silly. Charlie is a good guy but totally clueless. Liam plans romantic dates for people. Points for coming up with a different storyline in a college setting. I just didn’t feel their connection. I didn’t like that Charlie wanted to change Liam to fit his standards. And I hate that as soon as they declare love the book is over…Add the epilogue. I’m really tired of this type of ending. We never get to see the growth that happens when they are officially together.

As always the narration by Greg Boudreaux was excellent.

Not what I was expecting but should have anticipat

I must start by saying that I LOVE Louisa Masters other books.

THIS book I did not love.

I actually hadn't planned on buying the audiobook but since I want to 'read' all the books in this series and prefer to listen I caved . Because of this I feel like perhaps I shouldn't review because I already knew that I would not appreciate Greg as the narrator . Don't get me wrong, he is a great narrator and provides depth and meaning to many of the books that he performs- however he sounds like himself - an older man. He is is completely unbelievable or passable as a 20 year old. completely unbelievable. It is impossible to picture two very young college students when its his voice.

Additionally ... this story has a premise that is completely absurd- especially in the universe that has
been created by all of these authors . It is impossible to believe that someone like Charlie exists in 2022 . In order to suspend disbelief and buy into Charlie's absolute lack of ability to read social clues as a 20 year old male living in California with a smart phone and more money than he knows what to do with .. you have to be able to tune out the depth of Brax & Ty's story, ignore what you know about Felix & Marshall or even Brady & Peyton and you just can't . (Plus there's Ian & Max and their goofiness which are amazing in her other series but not set in this reality!) . Charlie is the human representation of Alistair from Hidden Species (READ THAT SERIES!!!! Its so good)

This story is akin to an Adam Sandler rendition of Anna Karenina ... I stopped listening when they decided to be "kissing friends. There was literally NO set up to their physical attraction, not a single mention of either being a horndog or anything. they were client/advisor and then "BOOM can't keep my hands off", they zipped through it and it was done - which one should be able to believe when its 2 dudes but it wasn't addressed even in THAT capacity . I felt zero connection to either MC and just skipped to the end.

Awwww!

This is probably one of the sweetest books I ever listened to. The main characters of Charlie and Leon are just perfect for one another. Charlie is an oblivious cinnamon roll. In advertently ends up “dating” 3 people,
really through no fault of his own. Others just assume, because he’s just so nice, that they’re in a relationship with him. He just thinks they’re friends.
Liam is known on campus as “Mr. Romance.” He helps the romantically challenged set up dates, etc. it’s a nice side business to help pay expenses. He is a romantic at heart but never has anyone so these things for him.
Charlie’s friends think Liam might be able to help him figure out how to learn the social cues he’s missing when it comes to friendship vs romance. They form a friendship that is absolutely adorable!
I love the call backs to some of Louisa’s other books and characters! So fun!
Greg’s narration is perfect, as usual! I’ll be listening to this again when I need something super sweet and endearing.
