Publisher's Summary

Things get textual when a steamy message from a random wrong number turns into an anonymous relationship in this hilarious rom-com by Lynn Painter.

Bad luck has always followed Olivia Marshall...or maybe she's just the screw-up her family thinks she is. But when a "What are you wearing?" text from a random wrong number turns into the hottest, most entertaining - albeit anonymous - relationship of her life, she thinks things might be on the upswing....

Colin Beck has always considered Olivia his best friend's annoying little sister, but when she moves in with them after one of her worst runs of luck, he realizes she's turned into an altogether different and sexier distraction. He's sure he can keep his distance, until the moment he discovers she's the irresistible Miss Misdial he's been sort of sexting for weeks - and now he has to decide whether to turn the heat up or ghost her before things get messy.

Critic Reviews

"Smart, sexy, and downright hilarious. Mr. Wrong Number is an absolutely pitch-perfect romantic comedy." (Christina Lauren, international best-selling author of The Unhoneymooners)

"This book made me burst out laughing while on the treadmill and I almost lost my balance and fell to my demise. So. Don't read it while running on the treadmill, because you WILL explode with laughter at Olivia's terrible luck, and you will absolutely swoon over Colin, and you will definitely fall in love with the two of them and root for them with all of your heart. One of my favorite romcoms, heavy on the 'com' and steamy on the 'rom'!" (Jesse Q. Sutanto, author of Dial A for Aunties)

"This book is an absolute blast, a classic rom-com setup with a modern twist. Lynn Painter’s clever, charming voice sparkles on every page." (Rachel Lynn Solomon, author of Weather Girl)

Disappointed

I’m so disappointed! This sounded like such a book I wanted to read. But it was tragic trying to get through her personality as a female protagonist. She wasn’t charming with her awkwardness, she was just plain irresponsible. It was so cringy to keep listening. It’s a fine line between being an airhead irresponsible and awkward and having bad luck. She definitely leaned towards being irresponsible.

Couldn’t Put it Down

I loved this book to the point that I now want to read more of what this author has written. I will probably read again.

Lynn Painter is a gift!

I always love a good rom-com, but Lynn Painter brings so much more depth, emotion and comedy that the average romance. I really enjoyed the texture and complexity of the characters and genuinely felt in love with them by the end! The narrators did a great job, too!

Not worth the read

Main character is so obnoxious. I could barely stand her. The narrator didn’t make it much better. She sounds like one of those mean girls from high school. Will be avoiding her in the future.

Love it!!

The narrators were amazing. The story was good and I loved the banter between the main character. The last 3 chapters were a bit too much for me. I felt the ending was nice but rushed. Would totally recommend this book.

Narration is good.. buuut..

Narrators have good voices.. an easy listen. Personally for me, not enough "wrong #" dialog. They barely text.. the reveal was anticlimactic. I liked the idea of this story and the quick wit was good..but I would say 90% of this was a bit boring.

In a single word, perfection.

As a Nebraskan it’s wonderful to read a book set in my state with so many places I’ve been. The characters were delightful, so many ups and downs, twists and turns. This book was perfection. The mispronunciation of Creighton was the only negative in the audio version. I hope this author writes more adult fiction!

Lynn Painter is going to be a new auto-buy author!

Lynn Painter’s other book, Better than the Movies, was one that I adored, so I was excited for this one. I ended up getting the audiobook to listen to and it was totally worth it! First of all, Olivia’s interviewing experiences sounded EXACTLY like my own lousy interviews. Not to mention how she wanted to stay living close to her nephews is my exact reason I don’t look at jobs away from my home city because I don’t want to miss out on any time with my niece and nephew. This book was unique though, different from a lot of usual forced proximity, older brother’s best friend, wrong number romances. I mean, he didn’t have a crush on her all along, and that seems more realistic to me. So I liked that aspect. And while I get why he didn’t tell her when he found out, I also know he should have, and I understood why she was upset at that point. It was more than just the not telling her, the author did a great job of making it more than that so that her emotions made total sense! Also, the female narrator on this one sounded soooooooo much like Sarah Michelle Gellar to me! Anyway, loved this one, and can’t wait for more by this author!
