Publisher's Summary

Finding happiness is the best revenge.

From the outside, it seems 36-year-old Tess Campbell has it all. A happy marriage, a successful career as a novelist, and an exciting cross-country move ahead. Tess has always played by the rules and it seems like life is good.

Except it’s not. Life is a bitch. And suddenly so is Tess.

When Tess discovers the truth about her marriage, she decides it’s time to live the life she’s always wanted, despite what her family and snake of an ex-husband expect of her.

Tess throws caution to the wind and embraces her lifelong dream of exploring the world. Her first stop - scuba diving in Mexico. The sharks she can handle, but the handsome Scottish diving instructor with the flirtatious smile and broad shoulders has Tess tied in knots. With her hard-won independence on the line, Tess must decide what’s scarier - learning to love again or letting her past control her future.

Fun!

Definitely a chic flick (what do you call it for a book?). Knowing both Tess and Aiden it was fun to hear their story in detail other than the snippets of conversations we've had with them over the years. Like I said, it's a chic flick so some of the chick moments, emotions, insecurities, etc are a little cringe-worrhy at least to me. What's most important though is Trish did a fantastic job capturjng Aiden very true to his sensibilities. I could picture him saying the words in this story. He is a very amazing man, genuine and intelligent which makes them a perfect match for one another, as Trish is equally amazing. Congrats on a great story and hope to visit again soon!

One last word about the narrator. I thought she was very good. With over 300 audiobooks in my library I place her well within in my top.10.

Nice to Have the Authors Story

Even though Tricia says that this story is not exactly hers it is easy to see how it mostly is. I have listened to most of her books and I can now see the influence her life’s experiences have had on her writing. So much of Tricia’s writing seems like she has pulled the words off of my heart and put them in print. I cry so many times when listening to her stories. I wondered how Tricia and her husband managed to finally get together and now I know. It gives me strength in my struggles to do the same with my life.

Great summer read

What a great read! Tess’s feelings and struggles to find herself resonated with me. The struggles we have to be true to ourselves and still maintain the family ties and friends that don’t agree with us and try to influence us to do things their way.
I found myself jealous again of those that don’t struggle with claustrophobia and can dive. Something I’ve always wanted to do. Tricia O’Malley’s descriptions of diving with the sharks made me feel as if I was there.

I am completely hooked on her writing style and can’t wait to find more by her. Do yourself a favor and read this book.

Blessing just when I needed most

I have never written a review for any of your books that I have read but I have loved them all. However this book I found at a time in my life when I needed it most. I so identified with all that the book was about and it helped me remember yes I need to live my life on my terms. I too like you found love a second time around and have now been married for 17 years I just needed to be reminded to listen to my own heart and not let the rest of the world Bring Me Down. thank you so much all of your books but this one truly touched my heart.

Illuminating

I was reluctant to read this book just because it was another down on your luck story. But I love Tricia’s style and humor, so I listened and I am so glad I did.
It made me love the author so much more because it seems to be about her.
It made me want to be Tricia’s sister because of the foolishness of family.
This book shows what guts , strength and hope can do for one and I was drawn to this character and author.
Now I am an avid fan and admirer.
Read this book it is enlightening and fun.

An inspiring life experience shared. 💖

Thank you Tricia, for sharing such an intimate experience with all of us! It actually was very inspiring to hear your Journey of self discovery & more, through & after your divorce.. I wish I’d listened to it when I went through mine, it would of helped immensely, at the time.
Its amazing we do judge ourselves to harshly & we are our worst critic’s.
I’m so happy for you Tricia, for your growth and happiness that you have found in every aspect of your life. You have a beautiful openness & forgiving soul.
The many books or audios, that you have written have more meaning to me now.
It’s funny when I read them, I felt at times they came from some reality or personal experience but of course not the magical, mystical, fantasy sides, which I truly love and look forward to listening/reading to many more of your books.
Amy narrated wonderfully as always.
Thanks 💖

I’m sorry

I’m sorry Tricia that you had to go through a divorce of such shame (on him not you). I enjoyed your “Mystic Cove” series immensely but I’m unable to get involved in this book. I listened to it the first time and barely got through it and this second time, I am unable to get past the first few chapters. I hope that chapter of your life is well and over and that you feel better for having written about it.

Disclaimer

Maybe I didn’t read the description close enough to realize this book wasn’t for me. As a strong woman, who’s also been divorced, I couldn’t connect to the main character.

I did enjoy the descriptions of the diving experiences. HOWEVER, I was offended by the storyline taking place in the Bahamas. As a resident of a small island which like the Bahamas is dependent on tourism as a main source of the economy, I did not appreciate the only depiction she gave of the island people. If this was part of the author’s experience, and she truly had visited the island, she could have shared how warm and lovely the people there are. Or if fictional, she could have invented a name. Not at all a fan after that.

Light & easy

Nice & easy story. Narrator's Scottish & English (?) accent was not fantastic, but I can overlook it.
